  1. You're totally missing the point! Read Moose Mobs log, he understands exactly the point! And you are missing the point that its been discussed many times and never flew. Just because you bring it up again does not mean it now makes it a fantastic idea. I never said it was a fantastic idea. By the way is there some reason this section is called "Geocaching.com Web Site"? Maybe you should rename it: "Geocaching.com Web Site: But don't dare bring up any ideas that SOME of us have seen before!" Look there will always be newcomers that haven't seen all the topics that have been discussed. So please try making the next newcomer feel a bit more welcome!
  2. It's not that hard! I should lower the rating! Edit: OK, now it's a 2.5! I've made it easier since TT and Flagman gave me some feedback on one particularly tough riddle. That part tripped up almost everybody. Anyhow, it was a 3.5 back when they did it!
  3. You're totally missing the point! Read Moose Mobs log, he understands exactly the point!
  4. Cool! Batman is awesome! Speaking of Batman, you should try my Riddle Me This, Batman cache up in Daley Ranch sometime! There are several great caches in that area you could also hit while you were up there!
  5. I really like that idea! You could also do a version of that idea allowing each cacher to maintain his own Top 5 caches. It could be a part of his profile and viewable to others and Geocaching.com could compile the Top 5 of all cachers to show the Top 100 for each region! It would be interesting to see which caches a 1000 or 2000 find cacher would rate in his Top 5!
  6. By the way TT, that photo I put up there was actually Keith Moon of The Who. Moon was one of the greatest R&R drummers ever to have sat on stage! He would have been a riot to cache with but unfortunately he's dead.
  7. TT that was gross! Why couldn't the nude cacher have looked more like this:
  8. How about this one. She's at least got a good geoname: visit link
  9. If you go read reviews on digital cameras on CNET it is useful to see the consensus rating before you buy one. You don't have to use the rating but it does provide some indication of the quality level! The cache rating idea would be the same concept. If 95/100 cachers don't enjoy finding a cache stuck in a bush in a blah area then that cache would get a lower preference rating. Now thinking about it some more, maybe it would be better to only show highly positive ratings so no feelings are hurt. By the way, if you don't do the difficult puzzle caches than your opinion would be not included on those caches anyhow. The rating would only poll the people that have found the cache!
  10. I've done some of kablooey's caches! What an awesome idea! Think that could work down here for me??? --TT-- TT you should go for a multi on that one!!
  11. I saw that! If you look down ~4 more logs down there is an even better geobabe! In fact, everybody was drooling over the second one and she later logged in and was totally embarassed!
  12. Unfortunately, it was without Mike Nesmith! So now you can subtract 10 years from my age!
  13. Trust me, if you get a large enough sample size this idea is not useless! The best caches will rise to the top! We all know what best is because we write about them in our local forums all the time!!
  14. I'm glad that I didn't mention that I've seen the Monkees in concert!
  15. I scanned through the forum and didn't see it so I decided to discuss it again!
  16. I had this idea that when you log a cache you also rate it on a scale of 1-10. Geocaching.com could keep a rating system that you could sort on to search for the highest rated caches in whatever area you are going to visit! The highest rated caches in each region could receive even some recognition or award from Geocaching.com! I had this idea because I really enjoy doing certain caches. Some guys really go all out and deserve some recognition! So what do you think?
  17. Have any of you guys seen this latest type of event cache called a Date Cache?
  18. I think the accuracy of different units will be similar IF they are able to receive about the same number of satellites and there is no multipath error. A GPSR with a better antenna may be able to lock onto more sats than a unit with a less effective antenna, especially under trees, and this can make a big difference in accuracy. Of the variables that affect accuracy, I have found mutipath error (signal bounce) to be the most troublesome, because the GPSR may report an EPE which is flat wrong. It is frustrating to have the unit tell you you are within 10 feet of the position, with a 20 foot EPE, and then tell you you are 80 feet away, with the same EPE. When the GPS acts like this, I don't rely on the output. In places where signal bounce occurs, two GPS units side by side may differ by 60 or 80 feet, both reporting a 20 foot EPE. FWIW, CharlieP I'd like to know more about signal bounce. I typically notice large errors/eratic readings near roads or other large masses of concrete.
  19. Sorry, if I did see you guys, I don't remember. The first concert I ever saw was Aerosmith back in '76. I was right next to the stage and my ears rang for like 3 days! Anyhow, next time I'm down in the Santee area maybe we''l bump into each other on the trail!
  20. I saw Journey in concert at SD State last year with REO and Styx but I would have rather had a strat like you got! But speaking of Styx. I used to have a tape with Styx on one side and Rolling Stones on the other. I called it my Styx and Stones tape. We are getting off topic: So speaking of Sticks and Stones that is an awesome cache up in Escondido you should add to your list!
  21. That's a great idea! Only two official covers, and one bass drum piece so far, but (Godwilling) more will come! I figure Journey is a good name to drop to band managers...lol. One or two should be OK. I only have placed 3.33 after almost 2 years. The 0.33 is one that Rocket Man, Fkrexcal and I recently placed together at a degree confluence (N33,W116). Yes, I know I'm a slacker compared to some. But I am working on some cool ideas, I just need time to gather the props! But everytime I get time I go caching instead! By the way, no offense to the new guy but I liked Journey with Steve Perry better!
  22. I totally agree! When you go to a place that you have been to, most of the coolest spots have geocaches! So Geocaching is like a free tourguide! It's that "wow" factor that keeps me going!
