  1. The licorice ones are like ammo cans on a beautiful trail!
  2. Thanks for all your hard work Dave! That was a cool site! I'm not a numbers person but your site made it fun to load my caches and see a bunch of interesting stats and trends. Good luck!
  3. You should put a tiny lamppost inside of it! Now that would be a switch!
  4. I just looked and I have 400 regulars within 15 miles of my house. Those will keep me busy for a long time. Only searching for regulars eliminates the Russian Roulette aspect of caching. You can lock and load with confidence!
  5. Not right on your route but well worth the side loop from San Luis to Los Osos. There are some great caches in Los Osos and it is a lovely area besides. Then from Los Osos you get right back on Highway 1 near Morro Bay. Thanks. We could stay around there and head to San Simeon early in the morning. Do you remember any particular cache names? If you are looking for some awesome hiking with no caches try parking at Hearst Park near GC240JA (On a Mission). Hike along the beach North, then up along the ridge (fence line) and pick up the trail heading out to the point. The Trail meanders North along some great beaches that are secluded. It's not a official hike but my bro lives in Los Osos and gave us the scoop. We have hiked it about 4 times and enjoy it. Just a thought! Thanks! That sounds really cool! How long/difficult a hike is it? The hike itself is flat and easy and you can go as far north as you need to. We usually go out for an hour or 2 then relax on a beach we hike to. Usually some cows are roaming around. Some awesome views on the point. Park on the street so you don't have to pay for parking. Sounds like a great late afternoon/ early evening hike. Thanks!
  6. By cracky, back when I was a boy money hadn't been invented. You could get a tank of gas for eleven eggs 'cause a dozen eggs hadn't been invented either. ... back when I was a boy. If y' want to see one of those old-timey US-80 gas stations just walk up over the saddle south of Sandy Creek Cowboy Cache No. 10. By cracky .... You guys remind me of Grandpa Simpson, "Like the time I took the ferry to Shelbyville. I needed a new heel for my shoe so I decided to go to Morganville, which is what they called Shelbyville in those days. So I tied an onion to my belt, which was the style at the time. Now to take the ferry cost a nickel, and in those days, nickels had pictures of bumblebees on them. Give me five bees for a quarter you'd say. Now where were we, oh ya. The important thing was that I had an onion on my belt, which was the style at the time. They didn't have white onions because if the war. The only thing you could get was those big yellow ones." You just can't get this kinda good stuff on Facebook. Hail, back when I was a boy books hadn't even been invented. See whut I'm sayin'? Two oopses? Whut th' hail's wrong wit' you boy? Grampa Simpson knew what he was a talkin' about ... back when i was a boy during the BIG WAR we had t' eat horse meat on account of rationing. One thang f'r shore, horse meat and yeller onions just don't go t'gether, by cracky. Back when I was a boy eatin' horse meat, shoot, that's when the word "Ptui!" was invented. Thank about it, who th' hail wants t' eat ol' Dobin? Not me by cracky!

  8. I feel your pain. I asked for this feature over 3 years ago....

  10. I visited Gem of Big Sur a few years ago but I just realized that I never logged it. That is a great spot. It's so close to highway 1 but unless you stop, you'll never know it's there. Thanks Randy! That looks like a great one! Plus my wife won't know that I'm caching because it's a virt!
  11. Lostguy, we like the same kinds of caches. So I wish I could click a button to add your ignore list to mine. It would speed up the process... It's amazing how caching has changed over the years. For example, when I started caching I honestly thought it was amazing that some people had found 400 caches! I found 50 caches in my first 3 months and I went hiking almost every weekend. So 400 was an incredible number to me. I had most of the Escondido and Poway area cleared out by that summer. So I took a break during the hot summer months. I met RocketMan the following spring on a Dan-Oh cache that we both got stumped on. Remember those? Anyhow, I still remember when we found our first LPC up in Temecula. We almost didn't find it! yeah...but you probably remember bread at 27 cents and a bottle of coke for a nickel too....Hi Pat! Hi John and Jodi! I don't remember how much bread was but I do remember when money was called "bread."
  12. Nowadays you really need to check the satellite map before you head out.
  13. Same here.. I'll do suburban caches... (not really urban ones), when I'm near where they are, but forest caches are what keep me interested in the hobby. Ditto.
  14. My wife and I are headed up to Santa Cruz in a few months. We are going to take the 101 to San Luis Obispo and veer off on the 1 to San Simeon. There we'll stop and see the Hearst Castle, which we've been told is very cool. From there we'll head up to Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey and finally to Santa Cruz. So if there are any great caches along that route, we'd really like to know about them. Thanks!

  16. Be Careful What You Wish For A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich behind him. The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich, "What's yours?" "I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later the waitress returns with the order "That will be $9.40 please," and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries and a coke. The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change. This becomes routine until the two enter again. "The usual?" asks the waitress. "No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked potato and a salad," says the man. "Same," says the ostrich. Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will be $32.62." Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket and places it on the table. The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer. "Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with the exact change in your pocket every time?" "Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be there." "That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would ask for a million dollars or something, but you'll always be as rich as you want for as long as you live!" "That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man. The waitress asks, "What's with the ostrich?" The man sighs, pauses and answers, "My second wish was for a tall chick with a big butt and long legs who agrees with everything I say."
  17. Truffles? This is the Star Trek thread, so didn't you mean tribbles?
  18. What sort of REI catalog models do you cache with? Most cachers I know dress like homeless people to go cachin'. ALL of my cachin' clothes started life as normal clothes that I ruined while cachin'. Exactly. When I've come home with my clothes all torn up and filthy, my wife would ask "where the heck did you go hiking?" I've also caught a ration of s___, whenever "I ruined a brand new pair of shorts."
  19. Little Johnny's at it again...... A new teacher was trying to make use of her psychology courses. She started her class by saying, 'Everyone who thinks they're stupid, stand up!' After a few seconds, Little Johnny stood up.. The teacher said, 'Do you think you're stupid, Little Johnny?' 'No, ma'am, but I hate to see you standing there all by yourself!' * * * * * * * * * * * Little Johnny watched, fascinated, as his mother smoothed cold cream on her face. 'Why do you do that, mommy?' he asked. 'To make myself beautiful,' said his mother, who then began removing the cream with a tissue. 'What's the matter?' asked Little Johnny. 'Giving up?' * * * * * * * * * * * The math teacher saw that little Johnny wasn't paying attention in class. She called on him and said, 'Johnny! What are 2 and 4 and 28 and 44?' Little Johnny quickly replied, 'NBC, FOX, ESPN and the Cartoon Network!' * * * * * * * * * * * Little Johnny's kindergarten class was on a field trip to their local police station where they saw pictures tacked to a bulletin board of the 10 most wanted criminals. One of the youngsters pointed to a picture and asked if it really was the photo of a wanted person. 'Yes,' said the policeman. 'The detectives want very badly to capture him. Little Johnny asked, " Why didn't you keep him when you took his picture ? " * * * * * * * * * * * Little Johnny attended a horse auction with his father. He watched as his father moved from horse to horse, running his hands up and down the horse's legs and rump, and chest.. After a few minutes, Johnny asked, 'Dad, why are you doing that?' His father replied, 'Because when I'm buying horses, I have to make sure that they are healthy and in good shape before I buy. Johnny, looking worried, said, 'Dad, I think the UPS guy wants to buy Mom ...'
  20. Deaf too. And Blind. But they sure play a mean pinball. (Must be the magnets?) I bet Tommy could find the dang things!
