  1. Well good news, Kerry and I went out today and set up a tent and secured the Campsite so all is now set for the weekend. I will be out there Thursday night and most of the day Friday so guess all that is left to say is see you all this weekend.
  2. Well will be sad thing to not have you make it Phil, but understand not everyone can just get away. Will look forward to seeing you this spring. guess that tent spot I was gonna save for ya is now open again.
  3. I could bring an Plithera of assorted Road kill. it is a long drive out there I am sure I can scrape some critters off the side of the road if that would help ya Alex of all the wood I bring you can use it all but that one special log I plan to use to take those Pot-shots. Or more better defined Crotch-shots.. the gauntlet has been laid.
  4. ok as the time draws near here is the list of what I plan to bring: 2 fair sized tables Some wood Lots of beer (which should just have been a gimme) World famous Camp beans to go along with the pig Lots of good Humor (another gimme) and the Usual camping items. Just a note to everyone I want to remind that I am planning to go out and get us the camping area Thursday afternoon so Kerry and I will be there most of the day Friday of you want to come in early. A Side note to our friend to the North, Consider a tent spot reserved.
  5. Scheduling problem, Scheduling a hooter debauchery for the previous weekend in which you will spend all you money and can not then afford to come the next weekend is not considered a scheduling problem. All seriousness aside. anyway it will be a dadgum shame if you miss this outting. Hope things work around for ya
  6. This is a long point with plenty of flat area for tents.
  7. Hey the good news about the cache is that it went live before the camp out The bad news is that someone stole it before it went live so there is no longer a cache. it sucks that there are low lifes out there that obviously can't read or if they can they just don't care. My bet is they are a Test Tube Baby cause no one with parents could be such an ***
  8. Just a note from the female half of cenlacouple. I am really looking forward to seeing everyone again. As an update to Don's latest post: Find the Scooby Snack Cache is finally up and running on the web page. Hummm, I wonder where we got the idea for a Scooby cache? In closing, Don will be telling a lot of wild and crazy caching stories during this weekend. Don't beleive them. They are lies all lies. Can't wait to see you guys Kerry
  9. Still trying to get my new cache approved in time for the camp out but if not I will bring the Coordinates so that everyone can get a chance to look for it while you are here for when it finally goes live.
  10. the gates are open all night but if you come in after they close the office you will just have to go up in the morning to pay, and get your car window pass saying you paid.
  11. In response to Jamie, and I will probly voice my response to his displeasure several times by telling him to stick a canoe in it but seriously, There will be plenty of room at the campsite chosen to accomidate multiple tents. And as for November first we would not expect someone from outside the state to understand the implications of missing LSU play The Cajuns. Beside I am sure I can speak for atleast a few other folks when I say I sure don't want Jamie stumbling into camp late at night all Boozed up with vision of Hooters in his head.. god only knows what might happen.. :lol
  12. OK here it is I finally got the chance to get the out and run the route to get the specific directions to the Main gate so here they are. Take I 49 north or south to exit 73. Head west on Hwy 3265. From Convience store go 1.9 miles to Indian Creek RD. Turn Left. Go 1 mile to where the road splits, stay on the black top follow road to main gate. Basically follow the signs it is well marked. From Hwy 165 north or south, goto Woodworth. At the only traffic light in Woodworth turn east on Hwy 3265(Robinson Bridge rd). Follow .4 miles to Indian Creek Rd and turn right. go 1 mile to split in the road stay on blacktop rd and basically just follow the signs. A VERY GOOD NOTE TO REMEMBER: Do the speed limit and only the speed limit in the town of Woodworth. This town is speed trap central and you WILL get a zero Tollerence ticket in this town. Seems no matter what we do we can't seem to get away from the LAW
  13. quote: _______________________________________________ Don, do you think you'll be squatting all day Friday for us? _______________________________________________ I plan to be squatting all day Thursday for anyone that wants to come early. When it comes to Indian creek you have to come a few days before the weekend as the best camping spots tend to go really fast and the one we have selected is the best of the best.
  14. I count 3 truckloads of wood so far, one more and we should be set
  15. just off the subject a little can someone tell me why my new cache might still be on hold after a week and a half, I do not seem to remember it taking this long for it to go live last time.
  16. I wonder if we are gonna play another exciting round of "My favorite Sinefield episode" where we learned such Helpful hints like "If it is on top of Refuse it is refuse" Oh maybe we can play another round of "Remember when I went Canoeing down the Mississippi river" where we learned.. ummm..ummm.. well we really didn't learn to much from that one except Jamie is a good sport. But whatever it is we talk about I am sure it will be as entertainning as the last time so if you did not make it to the last one I urge you to plan to stay atleast one night out there cause we did not even get really going till well into the evenning and well into the cases of beer. I should be able to bring a good size table so that is one out of the way. I am going to bring some good hard wood for the pig and try to get some pine for the campfire. Yes it is true my camp beans will be a good hardy side dish. If someone could bring some good homemade Patato salad that makes a good side dish as well. I will probly make several runs for wood either Thursday or Friday but if we could get one more person commited to a truck load of hard wood that would be great, you can never have to much wood. Seems the plan is coming together nicely and I do love it when a plan comes together. I find myself Hoping that October flies by as fast as September did.
  17. One more thing I forgot to Mention about the Old campsite and the Road/Resource. As luck would have it I happened to be out in that area a few days after our campout (for a reason that will make for at least one funny story this time out ) and they were as good as their word, The resource was Burmed with a 3 foot high wall of dirt.. so even if we had permission to drive in there, we could not do so. I confirmed today that I will be able to get Thursday Nov 6th thru Monday the 10th off so I will be in a good position to get out early and researve the campsite, As it should be cool then and me and Kerry like camping anyway we will probly be out there Thursday to put up our tent, if we do not stay the night then we will surely be there Friday afternoon. As far as the Pig Roast is concerned I am all in for that as well, the only downside to that is someone will have to stand vigil over the pig as it slow roasts saturday which might cut into someones Geo Caching time, but I am sure we will work it out, I plan to make a huge pot of my Camp beans as a side dish and will be glad to kick in extra for the pig. PS Alex when are you and Katie planning to be down this way camping, perhaps me and Kerry can catch up with you all and visit for a few hours if nothing else?
  18. Yes fires are allowed and yes there is an area large enough there for a pig roast. You can take wood that is fallen such as limbs and such but as this is a rec area there is not much wood in the area.. I had planned to bring wood reguardless of where it is held and if someone could bring another truck load then we should have plenty of wood. I say we go ahead and change it to Indian Creek on the cache page and since I live not far from Indian creek I am going to do everything I can to get out there and get the spot I gave Coordinates for because it is the biggest most out of the way campsite in the primitive area and provides us with the most privacy as well as having the most flat ground area for tent setting and parking. No matter what we have to eat make sure it goes with My world famous Camp beans and by world famous I mean that at least 3 of the people that have eatten them have traveled the world. I also plan to go out early and set up a tent in the spot so that we are sured to get it. The bathroom thing in the primitive are has not yet been updated on the LA website for the park.. the restrooms in the primitive area have been added in just the last 2 years.. so do not fear when you read about the primitive area and no rest rooms. will keep checking the website and get detailed directions to post to the main gate from I 49.
  19. Hey everyone, we went out yesterday to hide our New Cache "Scooby Doo Where A You" and went out by Indian Creek Recreation area. and got the Coordinates for a really good site that was not far from the restrooms as the car drives in fact probly less then a 3/10ths of a mile. The Prices are a little more then I thought but still it is not bad considering that there will be a road all the way to the site it is off the beaten path but still near the restrooms and we will be supporting one of the best rec areas in Central Lousiana. Prices are as follows: $7.00 per night per tent #3.00 per car per day for the single day come to visit folks or those that will be sharing a tent. So as you can see the prices are not that bad and it is a huge area for me and Kerry to Hide our Second poker run in to make it a tad more challenging this time. the Coordinates for the the campsite are N 31* 07.629 W 092* 27.971 Coordinates for the Main gate of the park are N 31* 07.262 W 092* 28.726 if you all should find that you would like to move it to Indian Creek Rec area please let me know and I will get more detailed directions to the park entrance from Interstate 49.
  20. Well I know you all have been eagerly awaiting the reply from Cenlacouple so here it is. We are going to do everything we can to make it as the last one was a blast. Well all except for the unfortunate Log to the groin incident but hey lets forget about that I am sure Alex would not want to dredge that memory up Anyway I think that we should move the camp out to the Indian creek recreational area just south of Alexandria LA. There are good areas to camp out in for like 4 dollars a car I beleive. All campsites in the primitive area have roads that lead all the way to the campsite and though they look like what we were told were resources I assure you that they are perfectly legitimate roads There are restroom facilities at the park and by moving into the park we also eliminate the Hunter factor as November 8th is the second weekend of hunting season. If this is exceptable to everyoen let me know and I will get the specifics and get coordinates for percise location. I have to agree with a previous post I bring way to much stuff to be hicking in Again can't wait for this campout and seeing all the friends we made at the last one as well as new friends that will come to this one.
  21. I do not know much about the New Orleans caches as I have yet to do them, BUT FOOD AND DRINK that is a different story. all the restraunts listed are good ones but no trip to New Orleans would be complete if you passed up a trip to Ralph and Cacoos for some fried alligator tail and fresh made hushpuppies. As far as drinking goes.. If you try the Pat Obrien's Hurricane and find it a bit tame, you must take the short walk to the Tropical Isle for another New Orleans only drink, THE HANDS GERNADE. This one will surely blow you away.
  22. This turned out to be a really awesome outting filled with a butt load of laughter good food and the best group of people I have had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. I told several people and I think it worthy of repeating, I have not since my days in the military gotten together with such a diverse group of people from different social and ecconomical back grounds and found such a refreshing spirit of Comradery. Everyone was interacting as if we were old High school friends at a reunion instead of folks who had just met. Thanks again to everyone and we were glad that we were able to help out and will look forward to doing it again. Maybe on the next outting I will treat everyone to some of my dinner time cooking which I guarantee will be far more substantial then a throw together breakfast. Can't wait till the next one and I am already checking on things out at the Indian Creek camping areas as a location for it. I think that this area will be a great place as it has a nominal fee for camping and plenty of areas that are away from the main RV camping area that we will not bother anyone with our late night conversations about Sinfeild episodes and yet still close enough to take advantage of the short drives to the Bathrooms with Showers. Look forward to seeing everyone again. Until we are together again Happy Geocacheing!!!
  23. Good news it seems that our plans were changeable and we are now planning to make it. This means that I can now annouce a plan for an activity. since we live in the alex area we plan to go out a week in advance and hide 5 cache boxes. In each cache box will be 11 envelopes and in each envelope will be a playing card and directions to the next cahce. Incase you haven't guessed we are setting up a Geocache Poker Run. Now I know what you are thinking.. 5 caches 11 envelopes equals more cards then there are in your standard playing card deck.. well to keep it even we have decided to throw in an extra joker. the exact rules will be discussed when we kick off the event on site, and there will be a prize right now for Highest hand. And depending on the amount of folks that participate we will have a prize for the person or couple that completes it in the shortest amount of time. And ofcourse we are all in for the crawfish.. I and my wife will be willing to bring our crawfish cooker set the seasoning, potatoes, sausage and corn as well as an extra ice chest for crawfish as well as my old ice chest used for purging. can't wait for the weekend to get here now if there is anything else we can do to help just let us know Cenlacouple Don&Kerry
  24. Me and my wife hope to make it there for this since we are new to the caching game we are eager to talk to you veterans of the game. We are even hoping to set up an event if we are able to shuffle something we have planned for that day to another time. So keep your fingers crossed and hope to see you there.. One thing I did want to ask though was is it fend for yourself dinners or do we all try to bring some part of dinner and hook up the group? and what time does everyone meet on saturday?
