  4. Hi WHarkness,I think you found they place to be for knowledge. On the forums very infomative and nice people.I've learned almost all I know from the people here. That was my start and then took there information in the field and have been sucessful.14 caches 1 dnf, went back and found it. Thanks again for the people on the forums.

  5. Have you gone into the Preferences menu and Active Setup to make your POI file active?

On the map setup screen, are all the display boxes checked for POIs?

when i go to active setup, under "My POI's" it says default poi file, i tried to select a different poi file but there was nothing that i could select. i looked under both the internal disk (which its not saved to) and i also looked under the SD card (which i saved it to). but under the "geocaches" menu in active setup it has the file i created listed. i set it all up with the geocache software that came with the unit and uploaded it, everything seemed to have worked, but nothing shows up on the map. could it be because i didnt name the geocach in the actual program??

also i have all the boxes checked for the map display. thanks

Hi market garden Ive had the same problems i dont know if me (im new to this) but i found them on my geocaches pts but dont show until i put find by position then they come up and then can find lol hope that helps Mike

  7. Hi all im new to this.but i use explorist 400 with mapsend topo 3d for both.good for route go to detail map and choice the area and then go to detail maps in your gps.works great if in fact that is what you are talking about...lol like i said im new to this. Mike

The OP is a Garmin owner. Mapsend is not an option, anymore than Mapsource would be an option for a Magellan owner.

thanks prime suspect i told everyone i was new at this. thanks mike

  8. If you want good road maps that will allow your unit to make best use of its autorouting capability, you will want City Navigator V8.

If you want topo maps that show terrain features you will want Mapsource Topo.

Ideally you'll have both on your unit, but if you can only have one you'll have to think of your primary use for the unit. If its for hiking, backpacking, hunting, off roading, geocaching in the woods and other outdoors activities you'll want Topo. If its for driving and finding your way around town and for suburban and urban geocaches you'll want City Navigator.
