  1. Just to let you know Iplaced mine about 30minutes ago and its showing as ordered. Great Job!
  2. I'm Not Geowoodstock isn't the only game in town. Champoeg, for example, is pretty large.
  3. I am posting this for a friend show was part of the project. I thought maybe somone in the area would like a challenge. On Thursday May 25th at 08:48AM, Portland State University professor Dr Mark Weislogel and five of his students launched a helium balloon loaded with six individual payloads for a group of middle school students in Sheridan Oregon. The main payload included a GPS, a radio, temperature and pressure logging systems, and a camera. The other five payloads were individual experiments that the middle school students had designed. During its flight, the balloon reached a maximum altitude of over 104,000 feet, and a maximum speed of 112mph. The total flight time was approximately 200 minutes, during which it traveled over 90 miles from Sheridan, OR to just south of Mt St Helens, WA. Tragedy struck. During the balloon's descent, contact was lost with the radio system in the main payload, and the balloon's exact ground position was never received. Despite numerous attempts, the package has not yet been recovered. The descent rate data that are most critical are plotted in the attached file.(E-mail me for file) Here are the final stats at the last transmission Time: 12:08:44 Elevation: 14665ft Latitude: 45deg 56.17min N Longitude: 122deg 18.68min W Course: 6deg Speed: 15mph The clear cut area approximately 0.7 miles north of the last known position has been thoroughly searched. There is a $250 reward for the confirmed exact location or recovery of this package. The equipment in the main payload has value for Dr Weislogel and his students, but they are most concerned with reuniting the middle school students with their experiments. Any help you can give with recovering this package is greatly appreciated, and if the package is recovered, you'll be making some kids very happy. The package consists of (starting from the top): A six foot diameter parachute The PSU payload - 12" cube in hunter orange bag with two antennae sticking out the sides Five student payloads in a string - approximately 8" cubes with different colored tape on the corners of each one. Total length in flight - approximately 30 feet. It's probably a tangled mess right now, so you'll be looking for a mass of white and orange fabric with a rat's nest of string and small boxes surrounding it. If you are interestedin helping drop me an E-mail and I can forward you the assent data and last GPS readings to try and make a fix.
  4. I often wonder how many of people's first hides go missing. I took great care in my first hide, extreme camo and the whole bit. It lasted a couple of months and came up muggled. They left most of the container but took everything else. Never hid another one close by I figured who ever took the first could be back. Since then all I have hidden have been Amo cans painted black and they are all still going strong. Good luck in your next try.

    Bookmark List

I actualy enjoy the added bookmark lists. They can be quite informative. As an example I live in Oregon and am planning a trip Washington. I know I cannot find all the caches in the area I am going to so I picked a cache close to where I was going and noticed it contanied a favorite book mark. I then looked at the caches contained in the book mark choosing more caches that apealed to me. Found more lists ect. Its a great way to find more of the caches that I like to do. I found the quite useful this way. But I can see how it could be abused or add volume to a page. I would hate to see them all go away.

  10. On my new explorist XL i found out you have to follow the directions to the letter. Such as connect to computer, turn on unit ect. We were not doing it in the exact sequence it asked for and kept coming up with the same error message. Also make sure you run the Magellion instalation disk. again I have an XL so I dont know if it is the same but I had to download the way points to the hard drive of my computer then look it up in the manager. I also found that is you are a member and can do queries that you get more information from a gpx file than a loc file.

  20. I was up there on the 11th and it was still there They are bulldozing in the area but on the oposite side of the trail. I realy cant see them bulldozing the cache. When you get there you will see what I mean. From what I can see they might actually be making a little park or somthing right at the trunnel. Or it could all be cable work it was flagged when were were there but once again not where the cach actually was. Close but not that close. Its a great view and popular spot. You do need the cache page the coordinates take you to the middle of the trail you will need the directions mentioned to find it.
  21. You might try the Oregon cache site you might find more results. Oregon
