  1. Email Jeremy or the crew... they'll fix it for you. I had a TB in a traveling cache not too long ago. Before temporary deactivation was possible I had changed the coordinates for the traveling cache to N 00 00.00 W 00 00.00.....that really tacked on the miles to the TB's map... he fixed it up right away. icon_smile.gif Good Luck!

  3. Dx...

Of course it's a great idea and I'd be thrilled to help again... just hitting my busy period this month so I'm slow in responding. I actually have another project I'd like to talk to you about one of these days too but don't have the time right now to go into it.

I know it's tough but be patient, keep planting caches and spreading the word. Eventually it will catch on. People that read the same article as you may have been initially discouraged by seeing there weren't many in the area.....if they start seeing them pop up it may stir their interest enough to get them out there hunting. Something else you may want to think of trying is planting a traveling cache on the outskirts of a more active area... then if the cache get picked up and moved you can still have the fun of reading about it's journey. Gilbert's Stash is such a traveling cache... the thing with traveling caches is that you must keep up the communication to keep it posting correctly... but it may be the extra time and attention that you need right now to feel apart of the geocaching community. Just a thought! Good Luck to you and Happy caching! icon_smile.gif

  7. I do agree that this would be a great idea. The caches that I have set up with cooperation from the parks are great. But honestly there's still something missing... I need to email the land use managers and ask if I may use them as a contact person to keep the door of communication open to the geocaching community. I don't want to become the local georat by reporting any newly placed caches.... but I would like people to realize that geocaching can be done with the parks support and enthusiasm.

It would be nice to have a new feature added that would collect this data. Just a couple of quick optional questions, Something like:

    Park system/land owner identification

    Contact email and/or phone number

    Permit required Y/N

    Special instructions

These being optional questions asked on a cache submission form. It does make sense that this information would be best collected and offered for viewing by geocaching.com It also does sound like a hefty project for a quickly growing and changing overworked website. How about giving us an idea though... is it something you geopuppets forsee in the future? or is it an area the website is trying not to get too involved with, leaving it more in the hands of local geo-associations? With more and more of us trying to legitamize and authorize cache placements it would be a very helpful bit of data to be able to share

  8. Or is it just the homepage that is not showing new listings. The new caches on the homepage have not changed for over 24 hours now. When I go to do a state search caches that have been approved more recently then those on the front page show up. Were those predated or am I just being picky here or did I miss something?

  9. You'll never know until you try! Some go bad, some have great fun. We have about as much control over them as we do over our children we try to raise to be good people. Is it worth the effort, investment and frustrations? I used to say get a puppy first to test your resilience... now I think I'll say get a TB first ....work your way up ;-)

  11. Sorry, don't know records but I just wanted to say .... Excellent TB story icon_cool.gif Love the pictures. So honestly now Capt... what do the guys say when you pull out darth and start playing with him in the cockpit?... hehehe I tried helping out an army guy TB a while back and felt pretty silly stopping traffic at the gates to West Point so I could get a pic of him in front of the gates, but what a blast. Haven't had that much fun alone playing with a toy since I was a kid icon_smile.gif
