  1. This is something that always bugged me. The answer is to delete the old cache(s) gpx file before loading the new one. For whatever reason the unit reads the older dated files, not the newest. I've asked Garmin about this and have not gotten a satisfactory answer. Maybe someone else can enlighten us? Robertlipe?
  2. We are in upstate NY as well. Have a look at the Garmin 64s. Does it all, and now offered at a good price if you shop around.
  3. Take a look at the Garmin 64s. It does it all, good price lately around $250, good battery life.
  4. I use POI Files for maintaining data points that don't change, such as your Parks data. It will free up memory for other gpx files that you load/delete at times. I name various POI files individually to save long term.
  5. And, if it is set to Archive Weekly, has enough time passed for it to create a file.
  6. I might try using WebUpdater again to re-install the same version.
  7. Make sure you get a new good lock on your position. Watch the Sat page until you see a good lock, might take a few moments after the update in firmware.
  8. I use Chrome and click on the gpx option to save it directly in the Garmin/GPX folder.
  9. Unzip the PQ and put the two .gpx files in the Garmin/GPX folder. This is one simple way to load your caches and will show you the 64s is an awesome unit.
  10. The 62s or 64s are excellent all around units. I came from the gold standard 60cx myself. Super pricing can be found on the 64s lately.
  11. This may or may not work, but when this has happened with my 62sc, I'd power on till it got stuck at the mid-way point on the progress bar, then hold the power button till in shut down. It would then let me boot up. Once you get it to power up remove the files you feel caused this. Mineral2's advice to load on the card is a good move.
  12. Good job Viajero Perdido. I never knew that, and the ESRI WorldStreetMap layer does indeed show county boundaries!
  13. All your loaded caches are there. There is a distance limit so they won't be seen or listed if over ~112 mi from your last known location. If you pan over to those far away and zoom in enough you will see them. You can "Move to Location" (or similar name) when you have selected no GPS (demo mode).
  14. Click on 'GPX file' to save it on your device. (Not 'Send to My GPS')
  15. When in Mass Storage mode simply save the gpx file in internal or card memory in the Garmin/GPX folder.
  16. If you mean caches don't show as listed anymore, go to Find/Geocaches/Enter/Menu/ and select Show Found. Found caches should display on the map page as open chests.
  17. The 64S for $223 is a great deal, and you'll love it. Grab the Free mapping you want.
  18. The map .img files go in the Garmin folder. You may have Enable them in the Map Setup menu?
  19. Ah, Ok. Open GSAK and go to File/Load GPX/LOC/ZIPand point to where you saved your PQ. GSAK as I'm sure you know can then let you sort, edit, customize your output, etc. When you have connected your Oregon to the PC go to File/Export/GPX/LOC File/ and click on Generate.
  20. If you got the PQ in a Zip file, unzip it and place the two gpx files in the Garmin/GPX folder either in internal memory or on the card. For the card create the Garmin/GPX folder first.
  21. If you wandered outside the 24K coverage you'd still have topo. That's how I have mine loaded- both. You can Enable/Disable it as desired.
  22. Please excuse me if this sounds too basic. You are putting the cache gpx files in the Garmin/GPX folder, yes?
