  1. In 2007 I attended an event in a neighbouring city. Since then I get announcements from this event for each monthly reoccurrence. These are spam mails sent by the Groundspeak HQ and they need to stop. I only wrote a 'will attend' log for the very first time I wanted to attend and get announcements for this single event. How could I have known that the owner/organizer of this event would make this a recurring event for more than a decade instead of creating a new event every time? Groundspeak should provide a mechanism to unsubscribe from announcement mails associated with recurring events.
  2. When creating a PQ I must enter an email address to which the system sends a notification email when the PQ is ready for download. I'd like to be able to *NOT* be sent an email when the PQ is ready.
  3. Given the fact that even for Windows users a special upgrade, which includes another Windows tool, from 3.71 to 3.74 is needed, how can I upgrade my Oregon 550 from 3.71 to 3.74 with a Mac? The gupdate.gcd trick will probably not do here...
  4. After dinner I gave 3.61 another chance and guess what? No problems so far. My profiles are back, waypoints and geocaches are back, the unit doesn't freeze without gps reception any more. I think it's very strange that the same GPS unit behaves so differently with the same software update in the morning and in the evening. Maps are displayed much faster than before with this software version. The geocache filter bugs are still present (means: not working at all).
  5. I upgraded to 3.61 during breakfast and after the reboot my Oregon550 got stuck at the screen where the Garmin logo is displayed. Then I found this thread and read Dr Jeckyl and Mr Hide's post about the need for satellites during an unusual phase of the boot process. So I put my O550 outside, nothing changed for 5 Minutes. I rebooted outside, got a sat fix, the unit started as normal and I verified that 3.61 was running. Then I took the unit back inside the house where I lost sat reception again. This caused the unit to freeze. Now I'm back at 3.52 and lost all user data during the downgrade process. Thank you, Garmin, for offering such a bad beta for download.
  6. I just asked myself and Google the same question minutes after my shiny new Oregon 550 arrived and here's the answer. Thanks to Rock-hopper. You can load GPX files from multiple PQs into the Garmin/GPX directory and they are all shown on the Oregon (up to the 2000 waypoints limit I guess).
  7. Tried the site again, logged in and did some testing. When entering a non-existing Geocache ID in the "View Cache" dialog I got the confusing error message "You must be logged in, and also a geocaching.com subscriber to view this cache." To Erica & Drew: And now I also would like to see an iPhone optimized version, with much more features too. Loading the regular www.geocaching.com site over GPRS is just unacceptably slow because it contains so much unneeded contents.
  8. Just tried to access the site with my iPhone. I only get a "Server Application Unavailable" error. I don't think we need an iPhone optimized version, just a general version suited for low-bandwidth mobile connections without all the ads, graphics, frames of the standard site would be good. Maybe the wap site is something like this, I'll just have to wait for it to get available again.
  9. And I seriously thank you for that! Just downloaded it. I also very much appreciate this work. Thank you very much. I also like the program logo, reminds me of Psycho Bob eating a bread *g*
