There are over 75 "Code 3" Geocoins now out in the world. I would like to have a friendly contest at this point. I will personally watch the progress of all "Code 3" Geocoins on geocaching.com that have been placed in caches or "set free", as we like to say. To the first "Code 3" to reach 5,000 miles traveled, placed in at least 5 caches, and grabbed by 5 different geocachers in the process, i will send TWO Limited Edition "Code 3" Geocoins that are being minted now for the September 11th memorial. If you would like to get in on this contest and you have not yet purchased your own "Code 3" Geocoin, there are only a few left, so contact myself or "shades of gray" at geocaching.com or check out the auction on ebay. Thanks and good luck...ready?...set!...GO!!!

activated geocoins ready for adoption...
Odyssey Voyager replied to Odyssey Voyager's topic in Trackables
many of those geocoins are hard to find and the fact that there is no cost for shipping makes these a steal, which is why they sold so quickly! i paid much more for these coins than i sold them for, now whether i paid too much is another matter, the fact is, i took a huge loss on each and every one of these coins. good luck to you all. -

Yep. Many events have had coin sales/trading going on. Some events even set aside space for it, like at the Midwest Geobash. thank you for the replies. i am so glad you all could shed some light on attending my first geocache event.

yes, i'd like to take my small geocoin collection for all to see, discover, and hold, along with my own personal geocoin design and a few brand new, unactivated, uncirculated geocoins for sale if cachers like my design. is there anyone here that has been to an event with someone sharing and selling coins?
-
this question has probably been answered a thousand times here but, i could not find a thread that made things clear. so my question is: can personal geocoins be sold at geocache events? i've just had a new geocoin minted and i wanted to share it and sell it with local cachers at a near-by event, but the host has not replied to my email asking for permission to sell my coins there, so...here i am. i just don't want to step on anybody's toe's. thanks for any advice you all can share. by the way, this is my very first geocache event, so please be gentle with me...

How long do geocoins make it out there?
Odyssey Voyager replied to Redcap the Druid's topic in Trackables
my very own personal geocoin lasted a whole 3 days before it disapeared! funny thing is...the person that took it actually signed the log book recording his actions! and, yes, i placed a note with the coin stating it was a travelling trackable and not for keeping, but it didn't seem to matter and that has just totally floored me. so my answer is...3 days...lol... -

as a fellow coin designer that gives a portion to charity, i whole-heartedly support the idea of coins for a positive benefit or foundation. right on! -
when we received our coins, we got a kick out of looking at the activation codes and naming each one of our little children! most of the names sounded like pokiman characters though!

congrats on your first baby! she's a beauty! -
thats a cute design, i like it!

and now that last statement reminds me of the coin "tempting the fates"!!!

trackable geocoins are even more enjoyable than baseball cards, or stamp collecting, simply because you can keep them or you can share them with strangers. as the website states, we all "live vicariously" through those trackable items! i have my own personal collection of usually more expensive geocoins, and i also purchase less expensive geocoins or micro geocoins to release and share. there is also my own geocoin design that i sell and give away to others. it makes my heart joyful just because, once created, a geocoin will always and forever be part of the landscape, much as the places we visit and cherish through geocaching, and that geocoin will be here long after you and i are gone, so that perhaps another generation will hold it and smile!

I'm letting go of my entire goecoin collection

who benefits from the funds raised? which charity would we all be helping out? -
Canada also has a Breast Cancer pink ribbon coloured quarter too, plus many other special edition coloured quarters available from the Royal Canadian Mint. Both the Poppy and Ribbon quarters are popular trade items in caches within Canada. Also of note is that the nano technology for the spy devices in the quarters failed to work, so that is why these coins were released to the public. thanks for the information on the royal canadian mint. there are several beautiful coins there with lots of color added. awesome!
-
the rumour is that canada was using the nano technology in an attempt to find out the colonels secret recipe for making kentucky fried chicken so tasty! there are some poppy quarters on ebay, but they are very very popular! anybody with their own poppy quarters interested in selling a few? email me.
-
watch the video if you get a chance at that site too, its good. now i must have a couple of these canadian "poppy quarters" for my coin collection! can anyone help? thanks.
