If you haven't already done so today, please take a moment of your time to reflect on all the blessings we share, and keep the family, friends, and loved ones of all those we lost on 9/11/01 in your thoughts and prayers. Never forget. Please also say a little prayer for all our active duty firefighters on the line and working in our community every day too, they need it. Welcome to the 9/11 Memorial "Code 3" Geocoin giveaway contest! i know this is a rhetorical question and meant purely as "tongue in cheek" on your part, but i'm glad you posted this. there are those in this country and around the world, that want us to "move on" from all the 9/11 memorial events. i can understand the desire of many to not want to "re-live" that tragedy over and over every year. my heart is very heavy, too. i lost many brother firefighters that day, the largest loss of firefighters in history, and it should ALWAYS be recognized. so, when i use the term "awareness" when referring to this geocoin, i use it to emphasize the SIGNIFICANCE of the event, not to pretend that someone may not know what occured on that day. .

if the above tip doesn't help, give it a couple of days for the mileage to reset. i've had the same thing happen with several of my own geocoins. .

welcome to geocaching, geocoin discovery, and the geocoin forum. it may take a little time, but you will soon be very familiar with everything there is to know about geocoins. so far, it seems you have done a great job on your first few geocache finds and logs! congratulations! so, some basics about logging geocoins...most geocoins you find in a geocache will have a "tracking number". with this geocoin and the tracking number you can do several things on the website. first you need to find the geocoin page, so on the geocaching.com home page, find the link on the left hand side that reads "TRACKABLE ITEMS" and click on it. you will then find the box that reads "Enter the Tracking Number of the Item:" you can enter the geocoin tracking number here and click on the "Track" button. you will then be taken directly to the geocoin page, where you can "add a log entry" (top right hand side of the page). when you go to "add a log entry" you can then either "grab it from somewhere else" (remove the geocoin from the geocache and place it into your online inventory, if you took the geocoin with you) or "write note" (add a brief note on the online geocoin page to the owner of the geocoin or other geocachers about this geocoin) or "discovered it" (you saw the geocoin but you didn't remove it from the geocache). you can also write a few words about your experience. once you finish the log, go to the bottom of the page and click the "Submit log entry" button to complete the transaction. it would help you greatly to understand how geocoins can be logged, if you had your very own geocoin to keep and take with you as you find new geocaches. you can then log your own geocoin into and out of geocaches before moving other geocoins. so, if you like, i can send you a new geocoin as a welcome gift from the forum. just let me know! its always fun to welcome a new geocacher to the geocoin collecting community! ~odyssey voyager~

thank you for your story. i've read so many uplifting stories associated with the "code 3" geocoin. i was also very moved when geocachers "BVnLJ" placed their very own Limited Edition "code 3" geocoin at the site of the United Flight 93 crash. This "discovery only" geocoin is now archived and will become part of a permanent Memorial Tribute Display to the Heroes of Flight 93. i hope to someday have the Honor of "discovering" this geocoin myself, in person, as i pay my respect at the Memorial. i hope you join me here on 9/11/09 for a chance to win a "code 3" geocoin. best wishes. .
