  1. agreed! on another note, I just got my 400t last week and it shipped with v2.40 software (also has 4gb memory *whew*) and I have yet to run into any lockups or any problems! (still on v2.40)
  2. It wasn't a big deal to me either... until I started using it, it just feels tremendously better. Also since the data fields are transparent it just 'feels' like the screen is bigger (although its only marginally bigger than the 60CSx) also you can easily hide the softmenu icons (top left and right) as well as the datafields (with 2 clicks vs. the 60CSx like 4-10+ clicks and the colorado's profiles remember this) which again, makes the screen just feel bigger and better. I don't think I could ever go back... at least without a fight
  3. the paperless caching function is reason enough to upgrade (imho) not to mention the gui/maps feel like Apple OSX and the 60CSx gui/maps now feel like Windows 95/Palm OS, It's a world of difference! I recently upgraded from a 60CSx to a 400t and have zero regrets, sure there are some minor quirks still... but for me the pro's outweigh the cons at this point. if you have the means to upgrade then do so!
  4. yep, auto-re-routing is working just fine for me... it just doesn't re-route as quickly as my 60CSx did, but its not biggie.
  5. Yes, I am using the automotive profile. I guess I haven't gone very far off route, only like 1/2 block so that might not make the 1/4 mile in order to make it auto-re-route... I'll have to do some more testing tonight...
  6. So I just got my 400t last Friday, haven't gotten a chance to use it in the field yet... I have City Navigator 2008 NT loaded up and noticed this small quirk testing routing on my way to work this morning. I set a waypoint and it calculates and sets my route, now on my 60CSx if I strayed from that route it would do another 'Calculating...' and then set a new route or as i call it 'auto-re-routing' does the 400t not do this? or am I just missing a setting somewhere? or will this be addressed in some future firmware release? thanks in advance, Aberrix
  7. I bought a used Garmin eTrex Venture off Craigslist for $35 when I first started... I had to manually enter all caches by hand because I didn't get a data cable with it. But it still gave me a feel of what geocaching was all about. I would highly recommend picking up a cheap used Garmin eTrex series first, if you like the hobby then let the little ones use it and invest in a better unit (60Csx). if at the worst case scenario you don't like the hobby you can simply sell the cheap gps you bought on Craigslist without losing a ton of cash.
  8. ^ I don't think anyone could have said it better. I am a former 60CSx owner myself and used it for road navigation, geocaching as well as hiking/snowshoeing. I think I put it through its paces quite well in all aspects. Now I just got my new Colorado 400t last week so I haven't put it through its paces quite like the 60CSx yet, but so far I am able to put the entire US City Navigator maps along with the entire central US 24k:1 national forest maps with a TON of room left on my 4Gb SD card. Not to mention I already have the entire US Topo 2008 built in w/ 1Gb free of built-in-memory. The GUI its like upgrading to Mac OSX when you compare it to the 60CSx which now feels like Palm OS/Windows 95. The rock and roller wheel is far easier to use vs. the lower buttons on the 60CSx, especially with my larger hands. PROFILES?! omg, how did I ever use a gps without this? no more changing 4-10 settings when switching from road navigation to hiking/geocaching, 2 clicks and your done! paperless geocaching... now I don't need to carry around a palm w/ cachemate, this is a HUGE pro for me. The *only* con I really have, is it not saving my backlight preferences when turning it off/on... but I'm sure this will be fixed soon (my unit shipped with 2.40 and haven't upgraded to the beta firmware yet) I would HIGHLY recommend the 400t if you have the means.
  9. I would only buy from an 'authorized Garmin retailer'
  10. Yeah, I ordered my 60CSx from pcnation and was VERY pleased, great company. I even had a pre-order for a 400t with them, but then decided to wait until all the issues were better resolved... last time I checked pcnation hasn't even got the 400t's in stock yet... So $20 more from gpsnow.com ($506) isn't that big of a deal to me especially since they have them in stock. I was just curious if there was any other place besides those two... Regardless I purchased my new 400t from gpsnow.com yesterday
  11. bah! now its changed to an estimated arrival/ship date of April 11th... wow... now its estimated to arrive/ship on April 20th... yeah, this doesn't give me *any* hope, at all of it arriving anytime soon... hah, changed again! estimated arrival/ship date of Apr 30th...
  12. I know gpsnow.com sells the Colorado 400t for $506 w/ free shipping. Just curious if anyone knows anyone else that sells it cheaper? Thanks in advance, Aberrix

  14. bah! now its changed to an estimated arrival/ship date of April 11th...
  15. i know gpscity.com has a arrival/ship date of April 4th for the colorado ram cradle....
  16. i dont know if this holds true for the colorado, but I know in order to get direction "from the car to the cache" or just on foot, I'd have to disable my City Navigator mapset. Do you have multiple mapsets loaded? if so, I'd venture this is the problem (that the gps is trying to auto-route you to the cache via the roads).
  17. awesome! thank you very much! I just got a Colorado 400t screen shield for 5.97 shipped to my door!
  18. Brand new still in the plastic packaging and never opened, was going to buy a new Colorado 400t and use this on it but now have changed my mind so my loss is your gain. It has a lifetime warranty, you can't go wrong! Capactiy: 4GB (Class 6) BRAND NEW! $34 shipped via paypal
  19. I just bought this 4 weeks ago, used it maybe twice and now sold my 60CSx. This is in BRAND NEW condition. Compatible with the entire Garmin GPSMAP 60 series line. Great replacement if yours is worn or broken, or buy this to piece-meal your own RAM mount from scratch! link to manufacturer website *cradle & hardware only* as shown in picture. $12 shipped via paypal for fastest response e-mail me;
  20. pcnation.com has them for $304 w/ free shipping. absolutely stellar company also!
  21. Thanks for the 'hands on info' guys! Also, I contact Garmin again to confirm a 4gb sdhc card would work and got the response "The unit will accept a 4GB standard Micro SD card." ... good to know they got their information straight
  22. I contacted Garmin and they told me the Colorado can accept up to a 4gb SD card, but would not accept SDHC cards. This is confusing since I can't really find any 4gb SD cards that aren't SDHC. Can anyone confirm that the Garmin Colorado will accept a 4gb SDHC card? Thanks
