  1. Yes, I typically select a cache to find within automotive mode so that my City Navigator maps will auto-route me to the cache, when I get as close as I can I simply change profiles to geocaching, this then (automatically) de-selects the City Navigator maps so that my TOPO and 24k maps are the only (active) maps. Even when not auto-routing to a cache when switching between profiles the GPSr will change my active maps based upon my previous settings. I am currently using v2.50 however I found this to be true for me when using 2.51 also.
  2. I also have had no issues with my IS on my 400t, I wouldn't use anything else!
  3. I am selling a BRAND NEW IN THE BOX Garmin Colorado 400t along with a BRAND NEW Kingston (Lifetime Warranty) 4Gb (SD6/4GB) SD Card and will also pre-load the entire Garmin City Navigator North America 2009 mapset (maps unlocked, original discs not included) onto the included SD card. $560/paypal shipped to your door. (note: this is a new unit and not the one I am currently using, the one I am selling is brand new in the box, never used)
  4. I have a RAM mount for my Colorado and wouldn't trust my unit with anything else. I picked up the Garmin branded car power cable for $20-ish on amazon.com. No issues, no complaints.
  5. It appears to work for me? once in maps hit the top left soft button, select mapset then check/uncheck the desired maps. It saves it to the profile, so my automotive profile includes CN 09 and my geocaching profile includes TOPO and 24K.
  6. This does produce some interesting results as in unit will turn on when holing the usb but then will turn off when i let go of it. however it still never gets recognized by the computer... and still doesn't explain why the SD card doesn't work if I put it into my PC directly...
  7. I experience the same problem on other PC's, so it's not the PC. Also, if I take my SD card out and put it into a reader the pc hangs and won't open/mount the card but other cards work just fine. with or without the sd card in the unit will not go into mass-storage mode while connected via usb to a pc. also, I tried to use my power cable in my car last night and then the unit went into mass-storage mode no matter what i did/tried. i am thinking something is corrupt on both the unit and the sd card... I made a backup when i first got the unit i just need to get to the files somehow to reload them... is there a 'hard reset' for the colorado? i tried the 'soft reset' with no luck... any ideas?
  8. So my 400t isn't going into mass-storage mode... tried a different cable and I finally got the logo/banner/icon to show up on the unit as if it were in mass-storage mode... but I don't see anything on my pc, nothing in disk management, no pop ups about a new usb device, etc... its worked just fine in the past, nothing major has changed that i can think of... tried removing the batteries, tried a soft reset... nothing... anyone have any ideas? thanks.
  9. I like to run two pocket queries, one for the north end of the city where I live and one for the south end of the city where I am sometimes. My question is both gpx contain some of the same caches, so if I load both gpx files will the colorado "know better" and only show me the cache once? or will I get double listings? I tried to put both gpx's into GSAK and then export it (to a gpx, nothing special) but that strips some data from it as I wasn't able to get the cache description/notes/hints/etc. Thanks in advance.
  10. wow, how come i didnt know about this before? thanks for the link!
  11. I just got my Colorado RAM mount in the mail yesterday. WOW! I am super impressed, its 11ty thousand times better than my old 60CSx RAM mount... the Colorado slips in and out with ease (unlike the 60CSx RAM mount) yet it holds very secure. I'd highly recommend it to anyone considering a mount.
  12. ordering mine today! is everyone pleased with theirs so far?
  13. 400t (mine) has 4Gb of built-in memory, with 1Gb being free 300 has something like 512mb of built-in memory, with 384mb being free
  14. the 400t comes preloaded with TOPO 2008, which are NOT 24k maps...
  15. My best advice for new geocachers; I bought a used Garmin eTrex Venture off Craigslist for $35 when I first started... I had to manually enter all caches by hand because I didn't get a data cable with it. But it still gave me a feel of what geocaching was all about. I would highly recommend picking up a cheap used Garmin eTrex series first, if you like the hobby then let the little ones use it, or if you don't have little ones sell it and invest in a better unit (HCx/60Csx/400t). if at the worst case scenario you don't like the hobby you can simply sell the cheap gps you bought on Craigslist without losing a ton of cash.
  16. Mapsource download link POI Loader download link 60CSx driver download link
  17. yeah, don't forget with the new 'field notes' feature, logging finds after a day of caching is now a breeze!
  18. Thanks guys. My 400t was shipped with v2.40 and I have yet to run into any major problems... so I just wanted to make sure I had way to revert back to a 'stable' firmware should I need to...
  19. I would also like to see that feature come to the Colorado. It was a nice feature on my 60CSx that it showed all my info upon start-up...
  20. Is it possible to revert to 2.40 after you upgrade to 2.51 BETA? if so, how? thanks.
