  1. Ok, I am going to try a gmail account. I just have so many mail accounts, I hate making new ones.... Unfortunately, they are all hotmail accounts.
  2. When I go to my page, I getting the message below: You need to validate your account. If you have the validation code from the email we sent you, visit the validation page, otherwise you can send a validation email. Did this happen because of the recent site maintenence? Do I need to revalidate?
  3. I am having the same trouble with GE as with the maps on GC.com. For some reason it only displays the cache on the top of the list of my PQ. I can go into the list of things that are in it on the left hand side and see that all the caches are there and checked off, but only the top one shows. If I uncheck it, the next one down the list will show. This is also what happens on the website. When I click the "show in map" icon, it only displays the cache that is first in the list. Is this a bug or something that is wrong with my PQs.
  4. How do you get it into GE? I see no option to make a KML file out of it. Doesn't need to be a KML - GE will open a GPX file directly (thanks to a little GPSbabel magic deep under cover in there somewhere) You can actually drag and drop the GPX file onto GE and it will open right up. But this is something that has to be done with the GPX file right? This isn't something you can do from the PQ results page is it?
  5. Here is an example of a cache that did not trigger any notifications. GC163Y1. It is within a mile or two of my house and I never received any emails about it.
  6. Party in the forums while the site is down......
  7. I am getting a mapkey error also. Does this mean that the site needs to update it's google map key?
  8. How do you get it into GE? I see no option to make a KML file out of it.
  9. I have checked all of the above. I have and had them set for Publish and the map it shows right on my house. I have increased the range and removed the virtual. I guess I will have to wait until a new cache is placed to test.
  10. I have notifications setup for Mysteries, Traditional, Multi, and (well I just realized this is dumb) Virtuals. I suppose there won't be new virtuals. Anyway, the new caches were all traditional. Do the notifications come from the same address as the PQs? The "noreply@geocaching.com? Also what is the difference between Publish Listing and Enable Listing?
  11. I use a hotmail account and have never had any trouble with any other GS emails.
  12. So, since I am not the owner of either the cache or the TB, I would need to ask one of them to do it? I do not have that option you mention.
  13. I have also been wanting a quick easy map view of a query. I hadn't noticed that icon before, so now when I click it, all it maps is the first cache in the PQ. It takes it to the Google map which is on every cache; this also makes me wonder, should it be working, would it show more than 20 which is the limit for these maps. I zoomed out hoping it was just zoomed in on the first cache, but then it reverts to the normal maping feature of finding whatever is in the map view up to 20 caches.
  14. I was not aware Reviewers could remove TBs from caches. Can we request this? There is a virtual cache here that someone logged a bug to and even said in the notes that it is the final log. He logged it to the virtual to hide it I guess? GC983B Is there a way for the owner to kill the TB?
  15. Do you mean the different types of caches? If so, then you have to find them and log them and then they appear automatically. They are listed under your Geocaches tab in your profile.
  16. I am curious as to what notifications are supposed to do. I have set up four notifications for a ten mile radius of my home. I assumed they were a way of detecting new caches without having to run a daily PQ. Sounds good, however I have had these setup for months now and received no emails about new caches. I am aware of at least three new lots in that radius since I set the notifications up. Is there something special to do to make this work? Do they work? Just curious. Oh, and yes, they all have the box checked that says to activate it. By the way, I am searching for "Published Listings." Is that correct for new caches, or is it something else?
  17. Does the lack of response mean that nobody knows, or that nobody would be interested in this?
  18. I am curious what kind of impact PQs have on their servers. I have never noticed any delay in my queries like they might be flooded with requests. Are there any statistics available about average PQs they receive in a day or something? I admit to being "bandwidth usage and impact" ignorant and do not really understand the limitations involved in things like this. Are there any threads that discuss this?
  19. Wow, for a 50 mile radius that includes Dallas, Ft. Worth, and Denton, it took 11 PQs to reach yesterday's date. It started slow; it took from 1/1/2000 to 5/1/2004 to reach the first 475!! The last search only covered 2 months. People are throwing caches out of their cars as they drive around, I guess...
  20. Ok, I just found that info halfway down the page.... Sorry.
  21. Is it possible to display the total number of registered users as well as the total number of active caches? Or is this already located somewhere?
  22. I could see that. In Dallas, I might have to have a query for each year, though. And in these later years, for every six months or less, depending on my radius. I will have to try this out. However, and I may be stupid for this, I would kind of like to create my own map of a large portion of the USA with the caches. Kind of similar to this one: World Map but only the USA or parts of it. I was thinking that a steadily increasing circle of filtered searches would be the best way. Can anyone think of another way to do it? Forget about the possible reasons as to why someone would want to do it (because I don't have an answer for you).
  23. Would this kind of thing be possible? It would be useful to upload a GPX file from GSAK to the site and import the listings into a bookmark list.
  24. I would like to be able to filter by more lists than just the Ignore list. I don't know how easy that would be to implement since it would probably require that the list be a standard name. Even if it had to be standard it could be something as simple as a couple of options like Filter List 1, Filter List 2, etc... (I know, not very creative.) You could then have these as options to select like you currently can select your Ignore List. I would think something like 5 or so would allow people to be more flexible in their queries. This all comes from the frustration with the 500 results limit. If that could ever be removed (which I understand the reasons why it can't), the queries would be great as they are. So as a work around, I would like to do this: 1. Query 500 results 2. Put those in a Filter List 3. Query a bigger area with those 500 filtered out to get another 500 4. Add those to the Filter List 5. And so on.... I currently have to create overlapping queries, which are a pain with circles as there is lots of overlap to get everything. I do this to create KML files of all the caches in my area (creating one big map of them), and living in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, there are thousands of caches, which means many queries. I would still have to do almost as many queries this way, but it would eliminate the multiple finds on the overlaps that just use up room in a query's results.
  25. I guess you could say I was wanting to adopt the GC#. I was planning on putting a cache there, regardless, due to its meaning to me. I just wanted to be able to bring it back to life instead creating a "tribute" cache. I understand I may have to do that, but I wanted to check this option out first. I guess a tribute cache just seems kind of cheesy to me. I mean if it is going to be at the exact same spot doing the exact same thing, why not use the old listing. It would be a different situation if I wanted to hide another cache in a different locacation that was nearby (within the 528 feet rule), but I plan on using the exact same place.
