  1. Wow! New site does not work well under Chrome. I wonder if it was tested?
  2. Somebody could write a song about that You may know somebody in a similar situation, or you may be in a similar situation, and if your in a situation like that there's only one thing you can do and that's walk into the shrink wherever you are, just walk in say "Shrink, You can get anything you want, at Alice's restaurant.". And walk out. And I proceeded to tell him the story of the twenty seven eight-by-ten colour glossy pictures with the circles and arrows and the paragraph on the back of each one, and he stopped me right there and said, "Kid, I want you to go and sit down on that bench that says Group W .... NOW kid!!"

    New

Welcome to the wild and wacky world of Geocaching! I hope you get many FTF's and not too many DNF's I think there's a glossary around somewhere... heh.
  4. My Navman has been sending me the wrong way recently so I thought rather than upgrading the maps I might look at a new Tomtom. The Navman only supports ASCII so it can't sync properly with my iPhone. I just get gibberish for the contacts names. Navman support don't know what ASCII is and suggested a map upgrade may fix my issue... Besides, even the good folks at Tandy mentioned a Navman rep saying the new versions were difficult to use hehe. I don't want to spend AUD$500 again as I did with my Navman, but everything is much cheaper these days. What I'd like in a car navigator: * Enter Long/Lat. My Navman does not support this. Do any Tomtom's? * Text to Speech * Sync contacts with my iPhone nicely. Or, alternatively, just work well with my iPhone through bluetooth so I can use the navigator for hands-free * I know most (all?) Tomtoms support customisable voices. I'd like the ability to use the navigator to enter Long/Lat as a backup second-opinion to my iPhone with Geosphere. The iPhone's GPS is not terribly accurate. Any other suggesions for brand/model? TIA!
  5. Howdy! I love the look of the large GEOCACHING.COM window cling, however putting stickers on the INSIDE is very bad for people like me with Window Tinting. Nothing is to be stuck to the inside of these windows on the tint film. Does anyone know where to get a big see-through sticker to put on the back window at the top of the screen to advertise my fondness for Geocaching? Also, I'm in Australia. Does anyone know a good place to purchase Geocaching equipment and stickers, etc from over here? TIA!
  6. Thanks for the replies, guys! I did buy Geosphere and created my first couple of queries. I'm off to do some Geocaching during lunchtime at work today hehe. Hoping to drag some friends along as well! Fantastic app so far. Downloaded my PQ and am ready to go!
  7. I see people are talking about Geosphere so thought I'd check it out. A couple of questions. If a Geocaching.com premium membership is required to get access to GPX files, why do I also get GSAK to import the GPX files and re-export them as GPX files for Geosphere? Aren't I doing the same thing twice? ?!? Why do I need GSAK if I already have a membership to export GPX files from Geocaching.com? With Geosphere, it only contains the GPX files I install to it, so if I am in an area I wasn't expecting to have some spare time in and want to Geocache I can't really use Geosphere and so should purchase the Geocaching.com application, yes? Thanks!
  8. Oh I see, so it was found yesterday but I found it 04. Thanks

    Yahoo Maps

Does anyone else have issues with the default Yahoo Maps that appear on cache pages? They always seem to have a star in the middle of just a big grey box with no other markings inside them. I suppose the Yahoo Maps don't feature Australia? In which case I wonder if it may be better for the Geocaching.com admins to use something else there. The Google ones are fantastic and I use them all the time, but Yahoo? Seems useless.
  10. I can't find any up to date forums with Queenslander Geocachers on it. I found an old mailing list and none are on the .au gc website forum either. Is there some secret location? Gimme the coordinates!!

    Why is it so?

Yeh. Thanks. I've figured it out a few ways. I do have my location in the profile, but it just still came up with other states as close to me, go figure Nevermind, I have many ways to find caches near me now that I am getting the hang of it. Esp the "type in your zip code" box! We didn't come here to cause trouble We just came here to do the Red Dwarf Shuffle.
  12. Thanks! I got a couple from a $2 shop but they have RED lids hehe. Maybe I will hide them upside down lol. We didn't come here to cause trouble We just came here to do the Red Dwarf Shuffle.

  15. Well, I've only just started, but the ones I've looked at are: * Kiddie Cache * Watching the Curranulla * Strange Items * Two suns in the sunset * The Aussie Munster Hunt None of which are too difficult. I didn't find the last two yet as the first one (two suns) had people nearby the first waypoint and the second one (Munster) I couldn't find. But, will check these again this weekend. I will be heading off again this weekend (Sunday) for some more Geocaching. I might look at: * Just for Her * Ansett's lament * The M5 one (can't remember the name offhand lol) "Mayhem" I think it is.. and the two I missed last time. Maybe others as well. I will have to check the list of nearby caches. I also have looked at "Transposing Oats" and "Grounds for pleasure" but didn't read the info on them and see they were somewhat difficult. (especially Oats. I still can't figure out how the code works). I almost found "Tiny Shiny" as well, but my car broke down and I haven't been back up that way since. We didn't come here to cause trouble We just came here to do the Red Dwarf Shuffle. 16. I also figured out how to compare the UTM coordinates with my Sydway Makes things much easier. Tomorrow, I will have to head for the $2 shop near work and get some geocaching containers. Any recommendations? It's cold outside, there's no kind of atmosphere, I'm all alone, more or less, Let me fly, far away from here, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun... I want to lie shipwrecked and comatose, Drinking fresh mango juice, Goldfish shoals, nibbling at my toes, Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun... Fun, fun, fun, in the sun, sun, sun...
  17. OK I figured it out. I thought it was supposed to open a new page or something when you click on it, but it displays info down the bottom of the screen dynamically. Why is it so?

When I click on: Search for nearest caches in Australia I get caches in QLD, TAS, WA, VIC, etc... I get two in NSW (not necessarily nearby) and then three in QLD and two in VIC, etc. I have my "zip code" listed correctly in my profile. 19. Hi! I'm new to geocaching and don't have my GPS yet (Monday), but was wondering how I would tell just by reading the site which caches are not too far from me.
