  1. Either the Spanish in the 15th century, or the Chinese in the 4th century?
  2. It was built in Jonquière, Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean, in Québec (About 60 km of Alma, where I live) ! There is a cache near that bridge. Here's a picture of it:
  3. There are lots of people that deactivate the weekly email option. I guess they think it's some kind of useless spam
  4. Here's the direct link to the official website: Rendez-Vous Québec 2008 On their older website, they actually had 500 pre-"will attend". But of course, the more people there will be, the more fun they will have!
  5. I asked them, and they said to use Zip Seal 'n Peel, because it is easier to remove if you ever have to open up the case again.
  6. I'd like to have an answer for you, however I didn't buy a dummy. I found pics on a Quebec forum. I'll ask your question there, and I'll come back with an answer. But my guess would be that you just have to screw.
  7. At some places you can buy dummy units (Cases without the electronics inside). You just have to open the unit and switch the electronics from case to case. There were a place in Quebec (Horizons Nord Sud) where you can buy some, but as for the US I don't know. Good luck!
  8. HAHA! Silly me. Try the image now... The file name has changed after I first looked... So it really was the answer (or at least related to)?
  9. I was told by Garmin's tech weenies that 4 GB was the upper limit. I think there's no such thing as a non-SDHC 4 GB (or larger) card. There are non-SDHC 4GB cards. I know because I own two. A-Data made a 150x 4GB card. The SDHC cards are cheaper now of course. In fact they exist, but they shouldn't, as the standard tops at 2GB. They don't even have the SD logo on it (or if they do, it's illegal, because it's not a "real" SD card). They work most of time, but it if doesn't, you don't have to wonder why.
  10. I guess that it won't. Even a properly calibrated barometric altimeter has an error margin. In the case of sat-only altitude, the error can be way more than 50 meters. And also, GPS signals won't pass through concrete.
  11. Which is why I specifically asked about 8gig or larger SDHC cards. People seem to think that 4gig SDHC cards are working, I was just wondering if anyone used anything bigger with any success. --Marky I am using a 4gb SDHC card in my 300. I have about 300gb's of Topo 2008 data on the card; it works fine. I also have an 8gb SDHC card which I am using in a camera. I have not tried the 8gb card in the 300. 300gb on a 4gb card great It must be compressed data. And it must be very precise DEM Topos Like 1:1000
  12. Some people tested them, and it does. I think Garmin also confirmed that.
  13. This is Charlie... a Fox-Terrier. As you can see he's pretty good at CITO
  14. Well... you should have read the entire topic to find your answer. But I'll answer anyway: There is still no official confirmation. However, the unit supports cards up to 4 GB, which means that they are supported (SD's are no larger than 2 GB). But we should still wait for an answer form Garmin.
  15. It could be hardware specific... If you extrapolate a little bit, as the iPhone and iPod touch are running OS X... it may be an iPhone/iPod touch GPS! But of course, Mapsource is another possibility.
  16. Just for this point, it's worth the upgrade
  17. There are about 3 SD card manufacturers in the whole world. The brand makes no difference. However, there are new SD cards (SDHC) that are way faster and that have increased capacities (4 GB up to a theorical 32 GB) , but they won't fit in current GPS units.
  18. I'll try... 1) The city of Asbestos (it could also be Murdochville) 2) An asbestos mine (and in Murdochville, it's also a mine, but of another rescource) 3) Finding some geocaches EDIT: After verification I see I was wrong. (But I had part of the answer)
  20. I hid my first cache when I had found 4. It is still my most popular cache, (altough I think the others I hid are way better) and yet nothing has happened to it. The only thing I suggest is to read the guidelines very carefully. Just know what to do and what not to do. And, for the first one, just hide a traditionnal. Simpler is easier.
  21. Don't buy these!!! Altough the form factor is exactly the same, the insides are completely different. It works by sector adressing instead of byte adressing(something you don't need to understand to realize that it just won't work). That means, unless it's specified that this particular product is SDHC compatible, it won't work. Most SDHC-compatible products are backwards compatible to standard SD cards, however. Maybe the Colorados will support them??
