  1. I would think it all depends on how confident you are, where the cache is and how much time you have. From my point of view I like to cache 'n' dash as time is always against me.
  2. I have been known to have a bit of fum as well. Adopting a Cockney accent I try to sell them my car. I just won't take no for an answer and get very upset when they are not interested. I do also claim to be from a religous sect that has no use for gas / electricity / mobile phones / solar panels etc and this can keep them on the phone for a while. The way I see it is that all the time they are talking to me they are not bothering anyone else!
  3. I have a multi that is about 6 miles walk. A cache is at each turn in direction with one along the longest stretch to break it up. Seemed the logical thing to do. People seem happy with it.
  4. Got me thinking. I hold my hands up and say I am guilty of hiding a cache that others might find pointless, however in my defense I have explained the reason in the listing. When I first got into this malerky I was dog walking a lot, this meant I was was pounding the streets in my area where there is not reall much of intrest, so I hid a couple of caches that were there as a point of intrest to other dog walker in my position. These were not designed to pique the intrest of travelling seekers, although one has gathered a bit of intrest, something I am proud of. The point I am trying to explain is that perhaps that there are cahes for everybody, different people have different intrests. I love the unique caches that have me treking miles but I also love the buzz of a quick hitter in the middle of town, or in a town I am visiting. Is it possible that Geocaching can be all thing to all people if they want it to be?
  5. yes they do - and they have their own icon.. I guess though theres not that many of them. Thanks for that.
  6. I do believe you are right! I think it showed a certain level of lateral thinking that one!
  7. I have looked at the above link, however I was thinking do these "earth" ones show up on the normal search from the home page? (The one where you can put in your postcode). Thanks.
  8. I did a cache on Boxing day last year and one of the sticks covering the cache was a TB. I saw there were 2 TB's in the cache from the description but assumed one of them had been muggled, it was only on closer scrutinisation that the answer became obvious! I think a walking stick as a TB is an excellent idea.
  9. Here is a link to a site that specialises in country sports and pursuits. The link is to the Craft section where everything about sticks is covered and if you have any questions they are more than happy to answer them and help. PIGEON WATCH DISCLAIMER. THE SITE COVERS COUNTRY SPORTS SUCH AS SHOOTING. ANYONE NOT KEEN ON THAT SIDE OF THINGS BEST NOT VISIT.
  10. Thank you for all the replies. I am going to use the lead method to begin with and go from there.
  11. I have a Garmin ETRAX, the £99 yellow one from Millets. Would it be possible for someone to please tell me what extras are available and what help they would be for geocaching. I know it has a computer cable link but i am wondering how i could best utilise this. Thank you for your help. (Oh and sorry if this has been covered before I have briefly checked but saw nothing relevant. If it really is old hat then a link would be appreciated and I could do the homework from that). Thanks again.
  12. Whoa! Not a good idea!! Someone needs to get out there and remove this ASAP! No it'll be alright, you'll need it to light the dynamite i left in there!
  13. I started off by converting to British grid but finally started to use Long/Lat. Once you take the plunge andgo for it you will not look back. Anyway once you plot the co-ords you can always change the format and double check on a map, like I do.
  14. As an aside could you not plan two caches? One that is wheelchair accesable and clearly state this in the description and another one that is however you want? Thus keeping a balance and making everyone happy! This Winter I have conciously gone out of my way to make my cahes non muddy and bad weather friendly! I like to think I am adapting to the climate. Infact I have had several comments thanking me for making them good to do in the foul weather we have had. Just a thought.
  15. Well I'm fairly new, I got into this malarky via another website. I was looking for some information about my little yellow box on the Garmin website when I followed the link here! I was hooked immediatley. I had posted on here a couple of months back but dropped off a little whilst other commitments took hold. However I am back again with a headful of ideas for new containers and locations to stash them!
  16. Thanks to the Mods who helped, very much appreciated. Having this support really makes a difference.
  17. Thanks, I have since discovered it was "Deceangi" that put it on hold and have sent an email, but I will try this as well. Thanks again for the help.
  18. I had a cache put on hold last night due to the fact it was 298 miles from where it should have been. The fact that it was in the Irish Sea was a bit of a give away really. Anyway the reviewers dutifly sent me an email notifiying me of the error. However being the klutz that I am I have deleted the e-mail with the link. I have searched for the cache but have been unable to find it. (The link that is, the cache itself is exactly where I left it ) Would it please be possible to either send me another email please or let me know how I can access it. At this point it would be handy to remember the reviewers name but like I said earlier, being the klutz I am....... DEGANO rings a bell but I maybe wrong.
  19. Wouldn't dare to... Not with a signature line like yours... MrsB I am actually only 3' tall and made of glass, I have that signature to make me look all rufty tufty
  20. I have just had a horrible thought.................... You are not talking about me are you?
  21. I had a cache over the Xmas period where there was meant to be a Geocoin but it wasn't there. The cache still indicates it is there. What happens in a situation like that?
  22. It would blend in loverly in Brighton (am I allowed to say that? ) LIving 12 miles North of it I know of a few places where it could go. ............... can I rephrase that last bit please?
  23. I did read one or two when I first joined but then they just fade into the background. However I do have a tendency to ignore/not notice things that I should really be reading carefully.
  24. It has just crossed my mind that perhaps the person involved maybe dyslexic or afflicted in another way (How can I say that nicely?). This maybe to the best of his abilities. Maybe an offer of help from someone local might be appreciated. Just a thought.
