  1. I see nothing wrong with your log! As a cache owner, I enjoy reading about the cachers experience when they search for my hides. On a personal note, when is first got into this hobby, a "seasoned" geocacher complained about my logs - they were either too short, too long, or not specific enough. I got so paranoid about my logs that I nearly quit. Then my husband (who doesn't cache) asked me why I cared what this stalker cacher said and I realized that I didn't care. So I ignored him and years later I still enjoy geocaching. So write what you want!
  2. I did my first Wherigo using an iPhone4. I had no problems at all, did all of the zones and found and signed the log. My problem started when I tried to unlock it. I tried the preferred option1 - upload yiur saved game. I don't know if its because I used an iPhone, but that didnt work for me. So I tried option 2 - and typed in the code that the Wherigo gave and error msg. Thought maybe the "O" was a "0" so I tried it again with no luck. What am I doing wrong?
  3. If you go to the YOUR PROFILE page on the right hand side under SEARCH OPTIONS you can click on "filter out finds". You'll then get only those caches that you haven't earned the
  4. I was born in Pittsburgh. My birth certificate (which I just checked) says that I was born in the "Commonwealth of Pennsylvania" and the birth certificate was filed in the "state health office in Harrisburg". So for Pennsylvania the terms are interchangeable.
  5. I don't normally comment on the forums, but I have to clarify a few things: The caches in question are a series of 75 caches in a power-trail running from Atlantic City to the Ben Franklin bridge. I would think that the higher difficulty ratings come in because you are searching for a cache on the side of a highway in plain site of all drivers. I have done most of this series and had a great time being out with friends. A number of people have commented on various forums that they enjoyed this series, others have commented that choose to ignore the series. That's what makes this hobby so great - you don't have to do the ones that you don't want to. The CO who put this out is using a sock-puppet account. They are not new to the sport, from what I'm told by someone who knows the CO's true name, they have been avid cachers for years and have many finds and many other hides. Yes, I have done cachers where I don't think the difficulty/terrain numbers are right; I have done caches where I don't agree with the listed size; I have done caches where I don't think that the type of cache is correct (some marked as "traditional" should be "unknown/puzzle" due to requirements needed to find the cache). We all have run into these situations. But I tend to keep my comments to myself because at least someone went to the effort to place the cache - and maintains the cache.
  6. EXACTLY! I forgot to mention that! The cacher is brand new (or at least using a new name) and they placed an entire series across the entire east coast. We were just commenting today on how it's going to be impossible for them to maintain them. I know they're new and I would cut them a break, but you can't do a search for nearby caches without 40+ of their caches showing up...all rated too high. I sent a very friendly email explaining how many cachers find this series overrated, and providing a link to rating guidelines. I understand what it's like to be new, but I certainly hope something changes soon. Especially since there's no way to ignore these caches when doing a search and since they're monopolizing my "hard caches pocket query" -- ugh!
  7. Disney won't allow any physical caches on their sites, there are a few virtuals that you can do while at the various parks: Epcot -- GC3336 GC9F98 Animal Kingdom -- GC3334 MGM Studio -- GC3338 Magic Kingdom -- GC10FB Hope this helps - have fun and tell Mickey and Minnie that I said hi!
  8. Dumb question time -- my daughter just had her first geocache published (yeah her!). Anyway, there are 3 people watching this cache. Is there a way for her to see who is watching the cache? Just curious. Thank you!
  9. I have a silly question. Someone went out to one of my caches this weekend and I got a DNF notice. I went out to check on it and it's still there - nicely tucked into its hiding spot. Should I contact the person who got a DNF and say that I checked on it and it's still there? Do you give them a hint (in addition to the hint in the cache)? Or do you ignore it? I'm new to hiding caches and don't know the proper thing to do. Thanks!
  10. Thank you - I was able to post it.
  11. My daughter and I went out geocaching today. I have a premium membership and she doesn't (she's 13 years old). The cache that we went to was listed under premium members. I can log my visit but she can't. Do I have to pay to get her a membership as well?
