  1. "Civic" because I am a political science/government nut. Absolutely bonkers. People avoid me at parties. "Doodie" because... uh... poop jokes are funny. My wife actually came up with the name, so the credit goes to her.
  2. I'll start passing around the tin cup. In time I should have that for you.
  3. While not a road sign this sign gave me a smile. While I was out tracking down GCJ6X0 - SKARURE - with the rest of my crew I came across this sign laying on the ground. Guess the honeymoon is over Doodie
  4. I'm trying that, but it doesn't look like it's working. The date on the modified query is still reading 10/03 after I ran it. Worked for me too, but do so at a slower than normal pace. I walked away from it and after several minutes I got the email, which was a surprise! NOTE: I have not been able to duplicate this work around with a second altered PQ as of yet.
  5. Not on an actual log, but currently serving as my profile picture... I have photoshopped out my father-in-law from a picture. You know, just to clean it up.
  6. "Who am I? Why am I here? What planet is this? I demand you take me to your command authority as designated by your governmental structure system or cultural identity ascriptions! Why am I naked?" When said as rapidly as possible it has a rather stunning effect. Of course, you could always try plan B... just tell them the truth. I always keep a stack of pamphlets from Geocacher University on hand. It helps do wonders in explaining what I am doing.
  7. I take my camera with me just about wherever I go. On many occasions in the urban setting I have found that if I am just doing the amateur photographer thing people just accept it. For the most part if you are not acting like you should not be there nobody will think that you should not be there.
  8. Whew thank goodness that is over! Almost got excited there. *deep breath*
  9. I leave an American flag pin as my signature item, but it is the signed log that is the real note that I have been there. I want people to take the pin. I don't want them just sitting in the woods for ages, I want someone to pick it up.
  10. Generally, I think everyone has been "guilty" of not trading up at one point or another. For the most part, I carry cheap little American flag pins as my swag, and as such, I generally leave and do not take. When my boy is with me though I do have a reserve of toys to trade out for the various trinkets he might want to claim. I do not know if my trade is equal, or if I am trading up, but I try to get close. The guiding principal is that one should not take all the nifty articles others have placed and leave behind the Ubiquitous Ball of String in its place.
  11. Generally Joranda is right. They may have permission. But it is not the owner of the mailbox that you need to worry about. It is the United States Postal Service. The USPS is not very understanding of anything that has to do with the mailboxes. Anyone remember the guy who was blowing up mailboxes in the Midwest in order to make a happy face pattern on the map? From the USPS website:
  12. "My what an oddly busom shaped forest!"
  13. I weigh in at 22.28797% - Geek I am not sure if I want to admit that or not.
  14. I lurk, therefore I am. Generally I keep to myself, but will speak up when needed. Good hunting everyone!
