  1. No - put that in the too hard basket and posted our GPS to mexico, but that is another story. When you apply for your visa, this would be a question to ask. Our guy played ignorant, and/or he did not understand what we were asking and did not understand the concept of geocaching. Have recently purchased a book called "My Seductive Cuba" by Chen Lizra. If you are considering going to Cuba, I would recommend you get yourself a copy. It is quite up to date. Have fun - love Cuba! Cheers Lyn
  2. We are planning to go to Cuba in November and are happy to leave the GPS turned off, however also plannig stopovers in Chile, Mexico,Peru and Brazil. We will need the GPS for those places, so will investigate the permit side or even pre-arrange from here for the GPS to be cared for while in Cuba by the authorities. That way we could take the memory card out to protect our maps, rather than being caught with it and not having the option.
  3. I use a combination of about three of the above responses. Trade folder in outlook, flag emails that need to be attended to, and attending to usually means spreading sheeting. We don't do alot of trades, but are very busy in life. Also use this system to track our travellers.
  4. Its a real hard one - we currently have 12 in the hands of cachers dating from 12 June 07 to 28 Feb 08 and six stranded in caches over the same time frame. Two caches appears to have been muggled Was concerned so I set up an excel spreadsheet (we have 46 out there) and update it every time a notification comes in. Quite handy. Have emailed some, only one responded, saying they had forgot they had it and that they would place it soon. That was a while ago now. But I suppose the odds of having so many out there . . . . . We really do try to move coins and TB's on quickly although we have a few at the moment that we are either having trouble placing or fulfilling their missions - but they are not lost nor forgotton.
  5. - letterbox empty today (Saturday) too, so nothing now until Monday. Yes, thank you. They're awesome!!! Especially that 2 tone. Cool- was a bit worried that you box might have got muggled.
  6. There was something in your mailbox last weekend - I hope? Hand delivered.
  7. Thank for all the offers of help. We are releasing six as high up as possible. I have contacted those who will get to release them in the first instance and will post the links to watchlist, for those who wish to help them on their travels. We don't mind some dipping, as sometimes it is necessary (too small a cache or in route to being dropped) as it is not a race. However we would like it to meet as many people as possible along the way. So it comes down to discretion. Thanks again Lyn & Richard PS We have had a little fun with the listing page for each coin. A status icon will allow you to see how all the coins are and how they are doing at a glance. 8. Wow - we are stunned with the response. Thank you to all. I am spreadsheeting all the responses. The coins arrive yesterday. I will let you all know who we send them to to start and include links to all the coins so that they can be watchlisted. many many thanks Lyn
  9. Quite right - should be Peebles. And "P" is not even close to "F" on the keyboard.
  10. Thanks for the prompt reply. The coins are in transit - we will definately be in touch.
  11. A tilling geocoin mission – this one will not be easy! (We need a lot of help – World Register help) In 1953 the very first world ploughing contest was held in Canada. 57 competitions later and the competition will be back in New Zealand for it’s 4th time. The first and second were held at Lincoln, Canterbury and the third in Taieri, Otago. In 2010 it will be held on farm near Methven, Mid Canterbury. Not just any farm, but ‘homefarm’. At every competition location, a cairn has been erected and stands “as a symbol of peace and unity for world peace” (the three in New Zealand are cache sites – GCQVD3 & GCP86T). The question is, are any other the Cairns in other countries also cache sites? DEDICATION: “That Man may use the Plough to Cultivate Peace and Plenty” To commemorate and promote the competition we have produced a set of trackable coins that we would like to set free in the Northern Hemisphere with a two-fold mission: 1. We would like the coins to travel to agricultural locations and if possible cache locations as listed, but also other countries – anywhere soil is tilled, collecting pictures of along the way. We would like to learn about agriculture around the world. 2. To make it home to or close to North West Soil Best GC10T3J by January 2010. * We are looking for volunteers to set them free in Great Britain, Finland & Sweden and others to watchlist them to help them achieve their mission. We will post the links when available. * 56 locations in 24 countries: 1953 Cobourg, Ontario Canada 1954 Killarney Ireland 1955 Uppsala Sweden 1956 Shillingford England 1957 Feebles, Ohio USA 1958 Hohenheim, Stuttgart Germany 1959 Armoy, Antrim Northern Ireland 1960 Tor Mancina, Rome Italy 1961 Grignon, Paris France 1962 Dronten, East Flevoland Netherlands 1963 Caledon, Ontario, Canada 1964 Fuchsenbigl, near Vienna Austria 1965 Ringerike Norway 1966 – 1967 Lincoln New Zealand Cache on site 1968 Salisbury Rhodesia 1969 Belehrade Yugoslavia 1970 Horsens Denmark 1971 Somerset, Taunton England 1972 Mankato, Minnesota USA 1973 Wexford Ireland 1974 Helsinki Finland 1975 Oshawa, Ontario Canada 1976 Bjertorp, Vara Sweden 1977 Flevohof Netherlands 1978 Wickstadt, near Friedberg Germany 1979 Limavady Northern Ireland 1980 Lincoln New Zealand Cache on site 1981 Wexford Ireland 1982 Mt Ireh, Illawarra, Longford Tazmania, Australia 1983 Harare, Zimbabwe Rhodesia 1984 Horncastle, Lincolnshire Great Britain 1985 Naera, Belgium 1986 Olds, Alberta Canada 1987 Marchfield Austria 1988 Amana, Iowa USA 1989 Kleppe Norway 1990 Zeeworlde Netherlands 1991 Limavady Northern Ireland 1992 Albacete Spain 1993 Vastraby Gard, Helsingborg Sweden 1994 Taieri, Outram New Zealand Cache on site 1995 Egerton, Njoro Kenya 1996 Oak Park, Carlow Republic of Ireland 1997 Gelong Australia 1998 Altheim/Landshut Germany 1999 Pomacle France 2000 Lincolnshire Showground Lincoln England 2001 Eskjær, Skive Denmark 2002 Bellechasse Switzerland 2003 Guelph, Ontario Canada 2004 Foyeview farm, Limavady, Bellykelly Northern Ireland 2005 Czech University of Agriculure, Prague Czech Republic 2006 Grange – Tullow – Carlow Ireland 2007 University of Agriculture, Kaunas Lithuania 2008 Castle Grafenegg, Krems Austria 2009 To be at Moravske, Toplice Slovenia 2010 To be at Highbank, Methven New Zealand

  13. We have had a set of four we released at the geocoinfest 2007, and these have been travelling - simply to be seen. We liked these coins enough to get a second set of these originals and keep for ourselves - to take and let others see when we can. These are the first one colour set, and the travellers were destined to travel together but have now become separated, which is OK so long as they are being moved and enjoyed. We have recently received two of the yellow qilin "center" to complete the initial set - one coin to release at an upcoming event and travel off to who knows where, and another for us to keep and take with us to show others. For shipping success, considering we live on th eother side of teh world to most, we have had all sets arrive pristine and the service has been amazing. We enjoy the work and look forward to what is around the corner. travellers tracking codes are, for those interested: TB1T56K TB1T58V TB1T599 TB1T591 TB20WQ0 Cheers All. oops - edit, the above were the personal ones - the codes are now the travellers.
  14. Depending on the situation, I don't mind if our coins/TB's are dipped to some extent. For example - if a major interesting trip has been planned. Their purpose is to travel, but also to be seen by as many cacher's as possible. It is great if the dipper shows it to others along the way. We had one TB that when placed, the log mentioned that it had had a whirlwind tour of NZ - no miles, no pictures as it was not dipped. Racing - no dipping is fair for all. We have dipped, but only 2 or 3 times before placing and usually on the same trip.
  15. Oh my - these are absolutely "STUNNING"! Well done Any chance of a Schnauzer version?
  16. We have not posted for literally ages and have a whole heap of magnificent coins still unactivated, and today we recieved some lilly pad dwellers. very cool - one set to keep, one set as a gift and 1 silver to release. As I am at home of a forced day off -I feel some catch up work coming on.
  17. Yes activate rchdlyn did, and discover did I. Very unique and beautiful most unlike any other I have seen. We can confirm we are going to release a set at the Aotearoa Multi Event (6 October 2007) to be held in Ashburton with another set there to discover, and maybe even some new coins ,if they arrive in time If you are in NZ at this time - it will be the place to be. Look forward to meeting cacher's throughout NZ and indeed the world. That will be our honor if you add our coins in the event. Hope you have a wonderful time there! Best wishes, sssooocool I can confirm that there was one entire set of these coins released into the wild at the Geocoinfest Aotearoa event. Must add them to my watchlist to see where they travel... TB1T56K: Four Spirit Geocoin - Asure Dragon TB1T58V: Four Spirit Geocoin - Black Tortoise TB1T591: Four Spirit Geocoin - White Tiger TB1T599: Four Spirit Geocoin - Red Phoenix UPDATE: The set have now travelled 781.6 miles since October 6 2007 and are still in NZ. There have been some interesting pictures posted on their links if anyone is interested. We have not been on the thread for a while and have just spotted the coloured. We are in two minds, but only because we have so many coins and are way behind on our activation of our private collection. Well done Sssooocool.
  18. Had this forum pointed out. We'll write a log to help keep track. Writing verse is not our strength. But like all things we'll have a crack. To win the prize would be a thrill. (Like getting toys from Santa's sack). We'll run down soon. (Its skills we lack), and also words, that rhyme with "...ack". Merry Chritsmas all rchdlyn
  19. Oddly enough the only time we have ever been asked is by another cacher. It is sad comment that doing odd things is not abnormal. When we have been finding caches in odd places such as inside statues, photography is a key tool - its amazing what wierd stuff you can do if a camera is around - rustle around in bushes, lean up against things, stick your hands in funny places etc. The other tool we used was poor catching with a tennis ball - works in front of anyone. Try explaining it to your friends - that can wind down into quiet mumbling as they stare at you, without saying anything. Thanks for the T shirt link.
  20. We also have extra Event coins (Aotearoa) that we would like to trade - preferably for other event coins but . . . .
  21. Well, a busy morning for a Saturday. Awoke to our first geocoinfest trade - North California (trading our Aotearoa geocoinfest for other parts of the world..) A geodiamond personal coin Then, just to make sure it was a good morning, An i-cache coin the gc coin (for explanatory purposes for muggles we meet) 2 corrected 7 year anniversary coins to match up with our incorrect 7 year coin 2 travel bugs 2 nano caches (just to make the local caching that bit harder) Oh, and a replacement phone battery from Nokia in case the faulty one burns the house down (only took 3 months - fortunately house still standing).
  22. Our 6th Anniversary Mission came today and exceeded expectations. 1 x Eternity (Australian) 1 x Australia 2007 1 x Isle of Man 2007 1 x geocoinclub december 2006 Thank you ever so much In our INBOX We had a note that the second minting the coins we are working on have been dispatched.
  23. Yep! Your package and another one were returned to him because they were sent in the wrong kind of package!!! He sends his profuse apologies, and will resend immediately. Well well, You learn something new every day - there is a wrong kind of package? Now I am curious. Anyway, thanks for the work. Cheers Yay yay yay yay . . . . A brilliant package in our mailbox today. Thank you ever so much. I recognise some from The weekend geocoinfest - one of which k1ngbobby actually brought home to move on.
