No - put that in the too hard basket and posted our GPS to mexico, but that is another story. When you apply for your visa, this would be a question to ask. Our guy played ignorant, and/or he did not understand what we were asking and did not understand the concept of geocaching. Have recently purchased a book called "My Seductive Cuba" by Chen Lizra. We are planning to go to Cuba in November and are happy to leave the GPS turned off, however also plannig stopovers in Chile, Mexico,Peru and Brazil. We will need the GPS for those places, so will investigate the permit side or even pre-arrange from here for the GPS to be cared for while in Cuba by the authorities. That way we could take the memory card out to protect our maps, rather than being caught with it and not having the option.

I use a combination of about three of the above responses. Trade folder in outlook, flag emails that need to be attended to, and attending to usually means spreading sheeting. We don't do alot of trades, but are very busy in life. Also use this system to track our travellers.

Its a real hard one - we currently have 12 in the hands of cachers dating from 12 June 07 to 28 Feb 08 and six stranded in caches over the same time frame. Two caches appears to have been muggled Was concerned so I set up an excel spreadsheet (we have 46 out there) and update it every time a notification comes in. Quite handy. Have emailed some, only one responded, saying they had forgot they had it and that they would place it soon. That was a while ago now. But I suppose the odds of having so many out there . . . . . We really do try to move coins and TB's on quickly although we have a few at the moment that we are either having trouble placing or fulfilling their missions - but they are not lost nor forgotton.

Thank for all the offers of help. We are releasing six as high up as possible. I have contacted those who will get to release them in the first instance and will post the links to watchlist, for those who wish to help them on their travels. We don't mind some dipping, as sometimes it is necessary (too small a cache or in route to being dropped) as it is not a race. The first and second were held at Lincoln, Canterbury and the third in Taieri, Otago. In 2010 it will be held on farm near Methven, Mid Canterbury. Not just any farm, but ‘homefarm’. At every competition location, a cairn has been erected and stands “as a symbol of peace and unity for world peace” (the three in New Zealand are cache sites – GCQVD3 & GCP86T). The question is, are any other the Cairns in other countries also cache sites? DEDICATION: “That Man may use the Plough to Cultivate Peace and Plenty” To commemorate and promote the competition we have produced a set of trackable coins that we would like to set free in the Northern Hemisphere with a two-fold mission: 1. We would like the coins to travel to agricultural locations and if possible cache locations as listed, but also other countries – anywhere soil is tilled, collecting pictures of along the way. We would like to learn about agriculture around the world. 2. To make it home to or close to North West Soil Best GC10T3J by January 2010. * We are looking for volunteers to set them free in Great Britain, Finland & Sweden and others to watchlist them to help them achieve their mission. We have had a set of four we released at the geocoinfest 2007, and these have been travelling - simply to be seen. We liked these coins enough to get a second set of these originals and keep for ourselves - to take and let others see when we can. These are the first one colour set, and the travellers were destined to travel together but have now become separated, which is OK so long as they are being moved and enjoyed. We have recently received two of the yellow qilin "center" to complete the initial set - one coin to release at an upcoming event and travel off to who knows where, and another for us to keep and take with us to show others. For shipping success, considering we live on th eother side of teh world to most, we have had all sets arrive pristine and the service has been amazing. Depending on the situation, I don't mind if our coins/TB's are dipped to some extent. For example - if a major interesting trip has been planned. Their purpose is to travel, but also to be seen by as many cacher's as possible. It is great if the dipper shows it to others along the way. We had one TB that when placed, the log mentioned that it had had a whirlwind tour of NZ - no miles, no pictures as it was not dipped. Racing - no dipping is fair for all. We have dipped, but only 2 or 3 times before placing and usually on the same trip.

We have not posted for literally ages and have a whole heap of magnificent coins still unactivated, and today we recieved some lilly pad dwellers. very cool - one set to keep, one set as a gift and 1 silver to release. As I am at home of a forced day off -I feel some catch up work coming on.

We can confirm we are going to release a set at the Aotearoa Multi Event (6 October 2007) to be held in Ashburton with another set there to discover, and maybe even some new coins ,if they arrive in time If you are in NZ at this time - it will be the place to be. Oddly enough the only time we have ever been asked is by another cacher. It is sad comment that doing odd things is not abnormal. When we have been finding caches in odd places such as inside statues, photography is a key tool - its amazing what wierd stuff you can do if a camera is around - rustle around in bushes, lean up against things, stick your hands in funny places etc. The other tool we used was poor catching with a tennis ball - works in front of anyone. Try explaining it to your friends - that can wind down into quiet mumbling as they stare at you, without saying anything. Thanks for the T shirt link.

Well, a busy morning for a Saturday. Awoke to our first geocoinfest trade - North California (trading our Aotearoa geocoinfest for other parts of the world..) A geodiamond personal coin Then, just to make sure it was a good morning, An i-cache coin the gc coin (for explanatory purposes for muggles we meet) 2 corrected 7 year anniversary coins to match up with our incorrect 7 year coin 2 travel bugs 2 nano caches (just to make the local caching that bit harder) Oh, and a replacement phone battery from Nokia in case the faulty one burns the house down (only took 3 months - fortunately house still standing).
