  2. I was a geocacher long ago (three years). My VW club is interested in geocaching but I can't use my old account. I have updated my profile with the correct email address but no response from Groundspeak. I would surely hate to start over again. Thanks, Gary gary.scurlock@kaferweb.com
  3. Hello, I have been gathering my own coordinates for good places to eat in Louisiana. I have them posted on my website. If you have a favorite restuarant and you would be willing to give more info, such as what to wear, how much to spend, what is the best dish to order. I would be happy to add your favorite place to my favorite places. I also include historical spots and other places where caches aren't allowed or are too commercial for GS. Thanks Gary South Cache Website
  4. Been offline a while. Mosquitos too big and hairy in the spring and summer so I avoid Geocaching. Been lurking and not posting. I like the new format and I need to restore my I-12 Cache. Since I tend to put in my two cents even when it isn't wanted I'll just continue to lurk about. Already today I have made two posts.... must resist....
  5. My Cache Site South Cache Webpage Actually been up for nearly 9 months now. If want to visit a good restuarant or other interesting places to visit I have the coordinates listed on my website.
  6. My father served fifteen years in the Army, Korea and two years in Germany. I graduated high school, 17 years old in 1973. Viet Nam was over, the draft ended. I decided to attend college. I worked for NASA for 9 years on the Space Shuttle External Tank project and Peace Keeper Missile Systems. I guess that is serving but I didn't risk my life other than driving to work every day. 8. Oh, I would never put old junky stuff of any kind in a cache. I have found stuff in a cache that is "cache worn" you can tell it had been there a while in dampness etc. As far as the Pokemon stuff... just wait about 10 or 20 years the stuff will come back and be worth mega $$$. I only have about $30.00 invested plus the meals I ate. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the tops." Robert M. 10. So McToys are out. I assume that includes the Burger King Toys too. Kids love that stuff, or they wouldn't put it in the burger boxes. Check out eBay the stuff sells. I have about 15 complete sets of Pokemon Gold cards. Hopefully I'll get to sell them and retire some day. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow. 11. You are right about supply and demand of course. It just irks me to gouge people simply because it is legal. It isn't ethical in my book. Taking advantage of people in need is wrong. In the case of the football game I weigh the value versus the cost. $20 to park, $30 for a ticket in the nosebleed section and $5.00 for a cup of warm flat beer is no value. Plus watching the Saints, better to watch the high school games at home. My only solution the parking ripoffs is to park at my office in the garage and walk to the event, typically four blocks either way. Since I pay a monthly fee already the parking cost is covered. Events don't happen that often since I don't watch football or basketball anyway. Watch the news, when they report rising oil prices the pump price goes up immediatly. When the news reports falling prices the pump price is slow to drop. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the tops." 13. Dad, It was great to get your last letter. I am sorry you are feeling so bad lately. Be sure and don't let the Sheriff know about all the bodies I buried in the field behind the barn. Your son... A month later he writes again... Dad, I am glad you are feeling better. I am glad to hear that the FBI and Sheriff's deputies did such a great job digging your new potato patch. I told you I would find a way to help out. Your son.. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow. It's the sides of the mountain that sustain life, not the tops." Robert M. 16. Same thing happened to me. A Mardi Gras bug was started in New Orleans. Nothing attached just a paper note. I passed it along with the full length of chain intact. It is like most things. I do software support for the company where I work. Many people don't listen to instructions and don't follow best practices. I see many complaints about lost bugs and I wonder if the total fault is always on the finder. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow. 22. quote:Originally posted by jak324:You're right, other things due cost more per gallon. BUT, they don't vary in price from day to day. They do charge you for what is in the bottle, not the futures. I went and bout gas one day and the attendant/owner was talking to another owner and he asked what his price was. The guy says outloud where I can hear, "You're charging this?, Yeah, I'll think I'll raise my price to that". That is why you get crap for working for an oil company. Needless to say, I will not go to that gas station anymore. jak324 My father had two service stations and we had several "gas wars" in the 70s where we would drop prices to drive others out of business. One time a hurricane came threatened (Camille) several stations jacked up prices to 70 cents. The owners were arrested for price gouging. The practice is common here in Louisiana. During the week I can park at the Super Dome for $5 per day. On game day the rate is $20 for the duration of the game. During Superbowl or Sugarbowl you can't park anywhere for less than $30.00. To me the price should be the same all the time. Why is is ok to gouge people just because they want to watch a football game. South Cache "To live only for some future goal is shallow.
