She loves it still!
  4. Anybody interested in trading me a: 06 Black Nickel Earth Turtle for my 06 Nickel Earth Turtle perhaps??? I started with about 5 ET's But Missioned and traded em off! I have had this one Trader ET for some time and really wanna get me a BN to accompany its Brother Sister in my collection. Guess since I havent been able to get in on the Mystery Threads Im cuttin myself off from a chance!...Better get in there!
  6. Been eagerly awaiting opening my Bday card from Kehunt64! Well, I DID Inside was quite the lovely Chippewa Valley coin and her Pathtag! Wanted the Chippewa and needed a few more tags to fill another page!- Thanks Karen!
  7. While I failed to "contact" the owner of the cache of which my only EC was placed by, I posted in the find log that I was placing it nearby. I read the guideline, but failed to actually contact them, supposing that my log was good enough. Ya'll know what they say when you assume! Id better go ahead and make the contact- YIKES! Only common courtesy
  8. Still a little unsure of how usefull this topic will be... It seems pretty selfish to assume that I would take the time of you folks to review "MY" EC aswell as any others here to help with the listing, but guess there is no better place to go for advice. Its the "Bandwidth" thing and I feel like its a little too personal to be posted here for review tips on ones own EC. Anybody else think it would be better off closed? I think we'd be better off with a "Best of" to get some cool EC ideas and how some ECs are placed, although I am sure there are some EC's out there that are definatley in need of some help! I just wanna place worthy caches and wanna see other ECs that people are placing... I thought a "review" would be a great way, but on 2nd thought... Im not so sure now. Sorry for the HimHaw
  9. I think you are talking about the lack of fresh soil formation and the lack of nutrient migration from upland environments, which also will retard plant growt, but over all you are not talking to people with B.S, M.S, and PHD's and that is good. You seem to have your information geared twoards the everyday person. I really like the track log idea, it is easy to look at and see the terraces when compleated and it proves that the person was there. It is also a great example of a learning activity that doesn't involve reading a sign. I don't care for most of question 5, overall it really is just read a sign and take a photo to prove you are there, not really high on the educational factor. (there are a few like that in Washington where the needed info is in the first line of the write up and then you take a photo. I look at this as an interesting virt, but not an EC) I think you did a great job and I do mean for these comments to be taken constructively and not negatively. Thanks for the info! ~ Good point on #5 being quite "virtualistic" ill rethink the step and improve on it. I tried to use as many generic terms as I could to better accomodate the average cacher (such as myself) as per EarthCache guidelines, but may incorporate some better fitting geological terms upon further research. Glad the track log was a good point for you, as I had a local review the listing and he was totally bewildered at that step! He made a point that "anybody without a Map60Csx will be lost", but I think its a pretty standard function amongst receievers. Just another learning point for some, that i believe will prove usefull. (may even provide tips on this step-dunno) ~ Thanks again!
  10. Cant wait to see the finalized product! Just traded for a 4 elements coin today...The one that "looks" like an Earthcache coin Probably get a few of em, as I like dem coins!
  11. Thanks, ill get a few more suggestions on this topic... I wondered if we should do without, I just really wanted some sort of feedback is all...aswell as on this topic, so I appreciate your honesty. No worries, just thought it may be usefull...especially for the newbies such as myself. Next Please
  12. I posted this topic because I went to the "publishing" thread that is now closed and wanted some sort of feedback for my newly listed EC, which is in fact my first. We dont have many around here and this is the first EC in my county... I almost feel like its too much info and may be to much for some, but hence the higher difficulty. I havent done but a few ECs and just wanna know what ya'll think. The EC is GC1MX8G ~ The Marine Terrace Ecological Staircase http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_detai...0c-9bad6a560be0 Please feel free to let me know what you may think of it...Im rather proud of it myself, but unsure from a ECers standpoint. Disregard the spelling errors Thanks
  13. Dont know what I hope to get out of this, but basically I wanted to provide a place for EarthCachers to list a link to their EC's so others could check em over and critique them in a way. Find ways to improve the listing or point out changes that need to be made. What may be evident to those who listed the EC may not be for the readers who intend to hunt them. It is intended as a tool to better improve what you already have, aswell as shed some light on different types of ECs that are out there for future placements of others. I would like to limit the usage of this topic for newly listed ECs, otherwise we may end up with a whole slew of ECs that folks want reviewed! Unless you have a particular currently listed EC in mind of yours that you think may need some sort of help. I realize this is in part the job of the reviewers that initially review the ECs, but we'll see how it goes! You can also state your opinion of this topic if you think it is irrelevant and I will have it closed.
  14. Got me my Masters of Cache yesterday from Fox and the Hound aswell from Kehunt64 had to round em up for the cointest I held What was funny is that I didnt realize that the coins Chris had sent a bit ago were a matched set so I needed another now for the cointest Whats even worse than that- BOTH coins were sitting next to each other in my coin album, SO I DID KNOW!!! Whats even better is that I found my trader in my keepers! ... I have waaay too many coins! Along with my coin from Kehunt64 came one of my personals AND a Birthday surprize I cant even open till my Bday! Thanks Karen and thank you Chris for the trade- ill be sure to put the extra Masters of Cache to good use in the future ~
  15. VERY COOL! Just cool knowing that they were dropped! Just like the old days-eh? Too bad I wasnt around then, but its nice to know you still have the spirit! Im sorry it turned into a bad deal for ya, but you made somebody happy! Gotta give ya a thumbs up for the drops...too cool! Thats a coin I can say EVERYONE in this forum would love to have! Just a special coin thats right up there with the Moun10Bikes. Thanks for gettin a couple more out there and for keeping your personal coins as pure as the day they were first dropped!
  16. One more thing! As EmmaGem fondled my treasure, she dropped that thing bout 4 times on the Hard wood Floor (Ok, its laminate) with no issues at all! So my coin took some pretty good abuse and held up nicley. I remember there being issues with the spinning Eartha, so I was a tad worried, but nothin really to worry about My Eartha held up well to the child abuse...If I had an issue with the pin, someone stated that its just a watch pin and those are easy to come by, so I wasnt too worried, but it was definatley runnin through my brain. Thanks again and I hope Eartha does have a chance to venture overseas...she does represent the Earth afterall ~ ~
  17. Sweet! Quite a few Eartha grabs since the last time I checked in! Congrats to all of you! Wasnt expecting this, but last week came a surprize package in the mail for me- YEAH the mail! Just looky at what was inside! "Hey Dad, CHECK THIS!" "Holy Smokes- Gimme dat B4 you drool all over it!" It was a Birthday present from DafunkyFrogs!!! WHOA! Still have no idea as to what they went through, but for them to do whatever they did means a lot to me! Gots well over 12 hours into huntin this baby down on 2 different occasions where I was shut down by Elusive Eartha! Still yet had one more chance in sight just to see it was grabbed aswell!- What to do now? Guess just sit back and wait for it to come to me! Which is exactly what had happened! So Thanks DafunkyFrogs and Big Thanks to Team DeLorme for puttin these beauties out there! What a Coin! Very happy to add this one to my collection! Sorry it took me a bit to post in this thread Congrats to all and for everyone else- Keep up the Hunt for Eartha! Pssst, I think you can still get in on the Delorme contest- GET IN THERE!
  18. I gots me a few bikes! 3 mountain bikes and a Crotch Rocket Ill go with my trusty lil peddler first! Here's a pic in San Diego when I was huntin down some Bikedog caches! At Butterfly Hill At Bikedogs BeanieBabies I slept in my car and this pic was taken in the morning after my very first event ever-Geocoinfest 07! I have had this bike since June of 1996! Bought it new with the funds from my first REAL job and EVERY part has been changed on it at least 3 times-seriously! It has went to Phoenix with me and have literally thousands of miles on it! ~ I remember the first scratch Last year I did my first Mountain bike race on it, of which I could not finish due to the family wouldnt wait for the 2nd lap with the heat! Been everywhere on that thing, but unfortuanatley I havent ridden it for months due to a small crack in the wheel support...Its a lifetime frame replacement, but GT got bought out in 02 and they wont help me! I gotta get er welded My most memorable was in fact all the Bikedog caches that it accompanied me on and it came in very handy on those hunts! We were hittin the same trails as Bikedog rode and it was just great! Beat the heck outa me, but those are the best! Ive got 2 other full suspension bikes including a Trek Fuel 90 and a GT I-Drive, but my little Hardtail beats em all! I cant wait to have it back in action.
  19. I wonder should an EC need adjustment, if the waiting period is extended aswell. Also will the plans that go into effect in March provide a quicker EC review period initially? Really its not a big deal, just sure is exciting to get my first one submitted...of course id like it to be listed, but the powers that be are workin hard on last months Joe EarthCacher who is eagerly awaiting thier review aswell. Keep up the good work EC.org!
  20. OH my little coin releasing friends have I got news for you... When a coin is released you almost have to anticipate it goin away eventually! Ive had coins that never even left the cache I dropped em in before gettin nabbed, lost and muggled! Its such a fact of life with geocoins and upon releasing them you will quickly realize, that they may travel, but in the long run...They'll probably go MIA on ya You CAN prolong the life by tagging them, drilling them or anything else you can think of to make them undesireable or evident that they are in fact a Traveler and not a Trade item. I have SO MANY that are no longer traveling and its just part of the game! I still dont tag most of my travelers, which results in a higher number of lost coinage! I even bought a laminator for making the tags...Just gotta figure how to make a little coin flip sized sheet to include and I think my travelers would have an edge over the ones that dont! Good Luck in ALL of your little Travelers and May they travel well for you!
  21. A Well deserved Lump of Coal too! CONGRATS indeed GoldiDarlin Whats funny to me is that Tsun herself said that this thing really aint so purdy! ... YOU KIDDIN ME??? You betta WATCH IT Lil Sista or ill start the word that Nutella is INFESTED with Melanin and you wont be seein the likes of the Yummy lil jar of goodness sittin on the shelves for MONTHS!!! I think you may be suffering from a wee tad of Nutella Overload and the effects are reflecting in the tastes of your own coinage!!! ~ Sheesh! ~ You Smokin that Nutella??? WELL STOP IT...The Cats outa the Bag and Im yankin its tail!
  22. SWEET! Thanks Karen, so I can now announce... We have a new WINNER Well, actually I am awarding a FTP prize (First to Post) To:Trek-Es Send me your addy and as soon as we get a trade worked we'll have your prize off! Now it'll be one of YOUR firsts that you now own! - Enjoy! I suppose as soon as Trek-Es claims th eprize, THIS COINTEST IS OVER! Thanks for the fun...and to DaFunkyFrogs!!!~ THANK YOU I dont know what you went through, but I know it wasnt and easy task!
  23. Thats YOUR call, we'll see what happens in the days to come. These things seem to work out pretty well around here I am asking MODERATORS, can we close this topic tomorrow some time rather than immediatley after the winning announcement? Mainly in hopes that my request may be met Thanks for all your deicated moderation!
  24. I had wanted to do somethin special with that Masters of Cache since the day it was givin to me as a set with the Artist Edition. Chris sent it to me, as he knew it was my first geocoin I ever actually owned and how special it was. So it is brought to you by not only me, but Fox-and-the-hound (the Artist) aswell... His gift made it possible for me to host this cointest Now if I only had another!... Ill work on it, as id like to fork one over for the FTP as a FTP prize ... Tell me it wouldnt be a special coin for yet another! With good reason too, so if anybody wants a trade, id go fer another Masters of Cache to accomodate! Thanks to all and THANK YOU Chris! Ill leave this topic open and ask that it be closed tomorrow. CONGRATS BVnLJ! Hope its as special to you as it is to me
