I'm sorry if the answer to this is obvious... I've looked and I can't find any explanation.

 

When I go back to some of my old logs from previous months, I notice that the number of caches I have found next to my name is lower than it really is. When I go to my profile, it has the real number.

 

Does the number of caches indicated next to a user's name signify how many they had found up to that point? Or am I just missing something obvious... or am I crazy?
