  1. What I want to know is it bad form to put a travel bug in a cache that you have found before.I picked up a travel bug a week ago 1/1/03 and starting to feel bad about not placing it yet.Ive been very busy this last week and not sure when Ill have some spare time to do more cache finds.Would just logging a note that I was just placing a bug be an appropriate.Just wanted some people oppinions on this.
  2. Does anyone know if there is a store or other supplier that will let you try out a gps unit before you buy one?I have a gps12 and I am satisfied with its performance.I would like to buy an upper end unit but just not sure what to buy.I dont even know if I want or will even use some of the bells and whistles that the other units have that the 12 doesnt.Ive read alot of comparison charts but would rather try a unit out for myself and make my own decisions on what is better or not.I was also thinking about buying a unit then use it for a week or 2 then put it back in the box and return it,as another possible option.
  3. Now I have to deal with 5 more people trying to get the first find.Dont tell any more people its hard enough as it is with all these retired peole with gps and jeeps around here!!Well actually I'm just kidding .You did warn them about possible side effects of geocaching though didnt you? What theres side effects you say???Dont take my word for it but you might want to check this link to see for your self. There wasnt anything about this listed in the disclamer.
  4. We took pics of our first find but prob was we also just got a new digital camera and didnt know how to use it that well. Finally got the pics to the computer ,but they were to big to meet the 100k maximum.By the time we finally got a decent program that reduces pics size. We had unknowingly deleted them from computer.OH well we did find the cache though.Love this game just wish I could quit my job and make a living doing this.Maybe I could start a guide service for people who dont have gps's or maybe even rent them out.Hmmmmmmm...............the possibilities(sp?)
  5. yes i get the same thing with the map trying to download my finds and generate a new map is quite slow but they have disabled the caches found feature so uploads are faster. They are getting a new map provider should all be better (we hope) in febuary

  8. web page this should be cool You dont have to be afraid of the creatures you hear in the woods. Its the ones that are silently stalking you that you should be concerened about.
  9. I just got a new 4x4 and talked my friend into doing some off roading .He had told me about geocaching and I thought it was a neet idea. When I got home and told my wife she looked at me with such a look.(married guys should know that look all to well)She didnt look any more pleased when I told her the price of a low end gps unit.Well I went out and bought one anyways.I was so exicited I couldnt wait to find my first cache and found one on the website a few miles from my house.I punched in the cordinates and away I went .I came home an hour later discouraged ,I couldnt find the darn micro cache.I talked her into going back out with me to help me find this impossible to find cache.Reluctantly she went with me.With flashlights in hand she found it in about 2 min after we get there. After that she was hooked she now says itd the best purchase Ive ever made.As for my friend that told me about it he still hasnt got gps yet. You dont have to be afraid of the creatures you hear in the woods. Its the ones that are silently stalking you that you should be concerened about.

  12. If I wasnt hiking on this trail would I still be able to get to the cache.Would I have to park near one of your fences and hike across a feild and open and close a bunch of gates to get to the cordinates I'm assuming you have a large property like a farm or a ranch.I know when I do alot of cache searches and the description doesnt tell me to start at x and y cordinates.I usually use the arrow to guide me straight to it.This method works but doesnt always take me there by the best route. You dont have to be afraid of the creatures you hear in the woods. Its the ones that are silently stalking you that you should be concerened about.
  13. Maybe the first finder made a mistake and he logged the wrong cache on the web page. Is there another cache with a similar name ? I dunno it could happen. 14. Ok ty I was just curious so I guess the equator would just be 0 degrees neither N or S You dont have to be afraid of the creatures you hear in the woods. Its the ones that are silently stalking you that you should be concerened about.
  15. It depends on where the cache is located and other factors that are involved. There are some caches in my area where security is involved on or near property.Ive searched a cache for about 45 min near a casino property before I was asked by security what the heck I was doing. The really sad thing was it was a 1-1 cache and the clue said for a 1-1 cache clues arent necessary. The cordinates took me to a place where there was about 5 acres of river stones with a few small bushes and small evergreen trees.Stupid me looks under every frickin stone and doesnt stop to think to look in the trees 20 feet away.I did find it later though but now i know that the gps definitly is NOT pinpoint accurate.
