  1. I don't mean to be a stick in the mud, but isn't that scalping? Isn't it against forum guidlines to sell things here, anyway? Actually they are face value SO NO SCALPING, and these are our friend! SORRY PLEASE DELETE IF NEEDED OK BACK TO GEOCACHING

  3. We have an electric dryer in excellent condition that we can donate to someone who lost their home in the fires. We will offer it up to the geocaching community first. Having a family of five, a dryer is something you miss real fast, especially with kids! We live at the northern base of the Cleveland National Forest in Corona about 1.5 hours from San Diego. So if someone knows someone who needs it than perhaps someone else can help come pick it up as we don't have a truck. Friday night as Tim was excitedly packing the jeep (sporting new 35" tires!)...he had a painful slip... and we found out soon after he tore his acl in his knee. Ouch! So unfortunately we had to miss the campout. No long hikes for a while for him. So he can offer 'some' help loading it up. But not alot right now. Also, if you know someone who needs this but they can't get it right now we can hold it for a while. No worries. It's understandable that people need to get situated in a place first. Let us know if anyone needs it! We were sorry to miss the campout and our caching friends. But since we are in San Diego almost every weekend to drop off the kids at Nana's or to be building friends jeeps ...there is no way we can possibly miss the Marko/Nomex event!!! Blessings and Good Times! The Slaby's OK, so we will take up a collection at the Nomex v. Ramius event on Saturday. Bring your spare items (and from personal experience, I can recommend gift cards from places like Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, shopping centers, etc.) and we will make sure they get to them... Gift cards are an excellent idea; can someone provide an address to mail them in case we can't make it to the event? Dave K., if you need any help transporting, I offer my truck and a driver - me! Tinfoil-Hat Head & Wall-Eyed Nutbag, sorry to hear about your casa.
  4. Thanks for the information on the meeting Tom. We looked and the site has not been updated yet but we are definitely going to help in any way we can. So glad to hear that our caching community is doing ok. And we send love and light to those who are hurting from this. Through this I must say that it has been deeply touching to see everyone out there come together and offer support during this time of crisis. It speaks loudly of the human spirit and the hearts natural reaction to reach out and connect when there is no time to 'think' about it. There is no desire to know what ones beliefs, life choices, or affiliations are. Prejudice and judgement has no place then. The innate instinct to connect, comfort and console each other comes alive. That is truly a beautiful thing. The Slaby's
  5. Amen. Sheesh, no kidding. My tent trailer is still hooked up and with Ramona still burning, it looks like it might stay that way until the weekend. So I'm ready to go. We are pretty much ready also.. We cant wait to get into fresh air. We are waiting to be notified for evac. They had an earlier warning for Rancho San Diego, but retracted it. Looks like the are by cache Golden 94 was burnt. TA As it stands right now all roads to the desert are closed, unless you go out 8 to S-2 and backtrack to the 78 67 closed 78 closed 76 closed We can cut through from S2 to Fish Creek then to the campout. Hmm.. Tundra might not like the Devil's Drop-off though. The tundra would do fine I watched a full size 2 wheel drive suburban drive down that trail and yes thats crazy. That would be a very long drive to the event if you have to go all the way around!
  6. He never answers his phone. Oops, did I say that out loud? Actually, I think he once told me his phone is usually off. You may have better luck sending him a letter. I know that he lives in Bonita and that area has no current fire problems. As long as he wasn't up in the Cuyamaca area then he should be fine. I finally talked to Chuck B he is ok and is home with his wife Thanks Tim Slaby
  7. Has anyone heard from Chuck B I have tried to call him Several times to no avail? SlabyFam
  8. A few very good friends have just been Evacuated from the Fallbrook area They live by Gird Rd and Rechee Rd. Another Friend was just Evacuated from Solana Beach Loma Santa Fe. We hope everyone is ok SlabyFam
  9. That's really bizarre - I can't imagine your caches are being targetted specifically. Have you had any go missing once you've replaced them? You might consider making them member-only caches for a while so you can see who is checking them out. We have an idea, but unfortunately, as this person knows, it is not something that can ever be proven in geocaching. So there can never be any consequence in that way. Which is why we chose to appeal for the community and through the community to try to have this stop. If this person can see it is not only hurting us than in good conscience they will hopefully decide to return these or just stop taking them. It's not fair.
  10. We'll be posting this in the San Diego topics as we feel it will be read by the neccessary person somewhere in here. In recent months an unusual amount of our 'in the country' caches have gone missing and with help from our caching friends we have been getting them replaced . But it is still going on. I would like to ask the person doing this to please stop. It is unfair not only to us but to the geocaching community to take the caches. Once they are out there they are for everyone to enjoy. Our appologies to those who have tried to get our caches only to find they are not there. Especially to those who have taken long hikes . Thanks to those of you who have given us the heads up on the status of many of our caches. If anyone tries to get to any of our caches and it is not there, please feel free to log it as a find. There is no way for us to know if some of these are gone until someones logs a DNF or tells us about it through email. The cacher who finds they have stumbled upon yet another missing SlabyFam cache should not suffer for what we feel is a deliberate act. When ammo can's placed well away from the casual observer in the mts and desert start to go missing in such high numbers there is obviously something going on. And we are not thrown off just because the cache next to it may be gone as well. There is a very obvious pattern here. Many of these were placed with our whole family and have special meaning to us. So this not only affects us, our kids, but the entire caching community as well. If there is some way to get these back, please send us some sort of anonymous message so we can get these returned. If not, well if there are caches that have not yet been taken please let them be for the communities sake at least. Sorry again to those who have not found our caches. We feel the same sinking feeling when we hear they are gone. One by one we'll get them all back up. 7 more to go! That we know of anyway. Thanks, The Slaby's

  13. I remember I really enjoyed doing the Fish Creek Wash with RocketMan and Trailgator. There were plenty of good caches and the slot canyon was the coolest part. That was a lot of fun. You guys could do this cache which is located on a rare degree confluence..... I'm going to do the Squezze then Pinyon canyon to fish creek on sat. the 13th. then go to Skillets property. If ya want to meet up e-mail me. That's a great run! Make sure you get some pics coming down Heart Attack Hill after you get through The Squeeze. Or even video! We've seen 'unexpected' things happen there! I've seen some boyz in their toyz get near tears when they see see that little hill! It will test your nerves. So if you pick up any one who is just getting their rigs out...get ready for some Good Times! Oh the memories! Other than Truckhaven this hill and the squeeze are about as challenging as you'll get out in AB with your 4x4. Going up Diablo Dropoff isn't bad. Rodriquez Canyon is easy now. Can't wait to see the pics! I love that hill. Those rushes you experience when you do some of the more challenging off roading are the best. Each time that Tim or I drove our rigs down HAH it was still edgy fun! We have a GC at The Squeeze and we hid a GC with our 4x4 group at the bottom of HAH many years ago. Check out the pics in the gallery for the Pinyon Mt. Trail cache near our Squeeze cache. It sucks when you see a rig roll like that. But it happens. Be safe!
  14. Thanks Dave I can always count on you! Tim
  15. Way to go guys! We know this was something you were all really looking forward to and that is so awesome that you scored 1st place! Cool!!! Can't wait for the campout. Looking forward to some jeeping and getting some new caches out there! And for the record, Shilona was on the bannr in June again. so it was nice to finally be noticed! Thanks for that screen shot! That was cool.
  16. Why I oughta .... Truth is that babes can't resist my Krispy Kreme eyes. Just as I said: many parts are edible... The down-side is that FATTBOY calls me every night to ask what I'm wearing. Wow! We're out hiking Mt.Whitney and this is going on! You guy's are just to funny! That tree did smell good though! Good Times!
