  1. I really want to try this but need a little more advanced notice! Anything planned for the future?
  2. I have looked around for an answer to this question and couldn't find it. Weird, since I know I saw it on the site somewhere before! We were out trying to find a cache this weekend and were getting seemingly erratic readings. Then, a huge cloud cover rolled in and we started getting readings that were off by 80 feet. Next, no signal! I am using a Garmin eTrex Legend, if that helps. Thanks for you answers, - netgeist
  3. Well, sounds like people are doing their own thing today, so melborne and I tried to do a few yesterday. Turns out, we only have one done so we might do another caching day on Sunday (a week from yesterday). - netgeist
  4. While I have this Monday off from work, the lovely and talented bride-to-be, Melborne, does not. I'd love to do some caching...but we are new and I don't know anyone else that does it yet, so I have an idea! Any other cachers in the area want to head out and do some caches in the morning or early afternoon? It would be a great chance for us to meet face-to-face, and those of us still new to the game could learn from the grizzled vets on the forum! Any takers? - netgeist
  5. My first found cache was a micro and it took me to an area in my town that I've never bothered to explore! Now I go there a lot and check out the whole area. Thanks again georgeandmary...micros now hold a special place in my heart! - netgeist
  6. Hmmmm....always wanted to try a night cache. I might be up for this! - netgeist PS - I doubt melborne would join me
  7. Well, melborne and I found another one today, and took a picture. We will probably do that for all of our caches! - netgeist
  8. No pics...I was afraid they would make the cache too easy for others to find, since if you are familiar with that area, it's obvious where I was! - netgeist
  9. Woot! I found my first cache! It was a small cache but a huge step forward for me as a newb. Now I need to find a few more, hide one or two, and get (positively) Markwelled! Then I will feel like an insider. - netgeist
  10. Well, I couldn't resist naming a 7 pound cockapoo Cthulhu. It's funny to think of the 'Call of Cthulhu' as being 'here boy'! I get great reactions when people learn his name. Some people call hum Zulu or Yahoo becuase they misunderstood what I said. Those that know the Mythos always say that they pictured him as being more intimidating! Of all of the RPGs that I have played in my 20+ years as a gamer, it seems CoC is probably the best choice for using with Geocaching. I am sure caches could be set up with Mythos related stuff in them and would gladly set one up out here in California to help the cause. Once I get a bit more experience with caching, that is!
  11. Former gamer and brand new geocacher here (still working on finding my first cache, actually). I hope to take my dog with me on a few hikes. His name happens to be Cthulhu! The mix could be a lot of fun! Haven't gamed in awhile - I mostly just read Jolly's work as a reminder of why I don't game anymore - but I'd be interested in trying out a combo of caching and gaming. - netgeist [This message was edited by netgeist on December 10, 2002 at 11:34 PM.]
