  1. How much is too much...when you find a cache in bad shape, and the owner is aware of it for a significant period of time, how much TLC would you give it if its not yours?
  2. I posted a similar topic in northeast forum called 'crap in a cache'...same idea as this topic. From what i have heard, the closer the cache is to a city, the crappier its contents get, and the terrain is usually over rated. I haven't found too many caches yet, but so far this theory seems to hold true. True-North
  3. Caches are disappearing in Reading, PA anyone know whats going on? Especially those placed at or by Blue Marsh Lake. True-North
  4. I have a really cool cat. I don't like cats, but this one is alright! I lived in Ocean City, MD and someone left her behind after their summer vacation was over and i was the only one living on my street and she just came right up on my porch one day. She looks just like "Church" from pet cemetary...maybe she's reincarnated too! I took her to the vet and to my pleasent surprise, someone had already had her spayed and turned out that they felt she was about 2 years old. SHe always lived outdoors, has a bunch of cat friends in ocean city and lives there still. I don't anymore, but my neighbor feeds her and i still get her to the vet regularly. She keeps our renters in the summer happy, they really like her andshe has her whole social world going on with her 2 cat buddies! True-North
  5. Speaking of gross finds on your way to a cache...i found a liver , intestines , cartilage and other organs frozen in the snow during the search for my last cache. They were so uniform that i could have labeled them with a marker. I assume they were the work of a deer hunter, they looked to large to be human... True-North
  6. Thanks for the info Harrald & BassoonPilot! True-North
  7. I haven't found many caches, only 3 so far, all of which i enjoyed a nice walk and a great view upon finding the cache. I guess caches where you drive past a landmark or a figure or something and then have to email the owner of the cache with a list of answers to "twenty questions" turn me off. Its like homework, followed by a pop quiz...niether of which I was ever fond of. True-North
  8. Must a cache be to be considered a Micro vs a normal cache? Thx True-North
  9. My first hunt was only a few weeks ago, It was Nolde Forest by Team JackQuest. What a mess, i was using my GPS wrong and of course i didn't find the cache. Got some help from Salvelinus (Smoochnme). Thankyou Salvelinus, who also got me started on geocaching. The forest was really pretty, it was a forest I walk in alot, but i had never taken this particular trail before. There were alot of trees down and a few inches of snow. It was snowing pretty hard when i finally found the cache on my second try the next day, now that I was using my GPS right. I didn't take anything out of my first cache find, I was just thrilled to have completed it! I didn't have a screen name yet so i just signed the log with my last name. I can't wait to see what this part of the forest looks like in the summer. It wasn't till my 3rd cache find that i experienced the lovely adventure of 'bushwhacking' but it was worth it! True-North
  10. What kind of critters or odd things have you encountered in searching for a cache? So far nature has never failed to make its mark with me from hooting owls, moths in the middle of january to a frozen and nicely preserved pile of deer guts packed snuggly in the snow. I wonder what will come next! True-North
  11. What was your first cache hunt, and what was it like? True-North
  12. I haven't found a micro cache yet, but at this point I wouldn't not plan to find a cache because its a micro. Perhaps my feelings will change after i find one! I like the hunt for the cache and the feeling of accomplishment i get when i'm on my way back to the jeep after signing the log book more than the actual cache itself. True-North
  13. I'm new to caching, and just wondered what everyone else's opinion is on this topic. If you found a cache and inside you found dead batteries or ketchup packets from fast food places, etc., would it be wrong to help these things find their way to the trash? ...Just wondering... True-North
  14. Just got started geocaching, having alot of fun. Found my first cache on 1/5/03. Took me two tries, but i made it. Thanks Salvelinus, formerly (Smoochnme) for getting me started and for the navigation help...now i got to learn to live up to my name. True-North
