  1. A review of the data would show that almost everytime I post anything here, this thread goes dormant. I bathe, even in France. I carry a poop bag (taking Marwags advice regarding large four hooved mammals) and get hoplessly lost and don't care. I was beginning to feel insecure. On a lighter note, how does one post a digital picture on this thread. Euro Caches have a different look to them. Is it Me? (Moi?) Monty Le Mule (I'm Irish anyway, so..) ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  2. Joani came up with the initial design, and her brother came up with a lot of the artwork. We can't wait to make it into our own custom smashed penny die. Once we do this, we'll be leaving smashed pennies as our sig item. --Marky " RE: SMASHED PENNY Well, I got smashed in Amsterdam (that town is designed for it) I almost smashed my hire car in Toulouse but it got towed instead (the police gave me a break, don't park in a vegatable market) While walking around the Medieval Walled City of Carcassonne in France I happened across a coin smashing machine and thought of the Marky and Joani smashed penny project. So I coughed up 1 Euro and smased a .05 Euro coin in the image of that old place. When I finally get back to the Bay Area (hopefully next week) I'll drop it off in one of their caches. How about a smashed coin cache? Like Marwag says, could be near railroad tracks. A fine way to lose some loose change (Word police might relax over that usage) Monty ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  3. [ "Vacation" caches are not currently allowed as they wouldn't be maintainable --Marky "All of us get lost in the darkness, dreamers learn to steer with a backlit GPSr" I go there every third month, and asia every other month (now that the SARS thing is "over") but not monthly. I'll try to get one of my colleagues interested enough to place them. Thanks for the advice! Monty ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  4. quote:Originally posted by Woof!: So what WAS everyone doing? Happy Halloween We went hiking at Grant Ranch (need to put a couple of caches there) and at Mt. Hamilton. The San Jose Flea Market (some GPS guidance there would be useful) Also spent some time preparing for a journey to France (yes, Toulouse) next week. Not many caches in France so I guess I'll place a couple there too. Yardwork of course...suburbanites, so it goes.. MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  5. I appreciate a sport that allows me to participate at whatever level I feel good about. On the whole (I've only been doing this a little while) I'd say that the caches I have found have been in interesting places that I would not have visited without a little "guidance". Trying to be at the top of the finder pile seems futile, a cacher getting started next year would have one helluva time catching up with a team like Marky and Joanie (we're not worthy, he he) But they are inspiring and though I'll not catch up, I don't care. I feel more in touch with my community just knowing those folks are there. So whats my point? (I forgot, sorry) ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  6. I wish I could blame this reason for my inability to find your Big Lady cache.... ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank

  8. quote:Originally posted by barefoot&twinkle:I dunno if Buckethead is _THE_ Buckethead, but if so, asking him to play at the pizza party is like asking...uh, well, there's no appropriate comparison. It would be a pizza party you would never forget and we'll just leave it at that. I'd be there for that one, bring band-aids ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  9. I am travelling to Toulouse next month. The map page shows the caches in France and their location distribution across the country. I wish there we more, but I'll not find them all anyway! Vive Le France! MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  10. Stagettes? Hmm, humans, can't live with 'em, can't deep fry 'em ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  11. It appears that someone has moved Yosemite to the south in the image above. I thought I would have felt that.. Actually, I am trying to figure out how much map data I can upload, this is new to me. ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  12. Can she sue herself for enticment? If she had been more discreet people might not have known so much. Who cares anyway, California coastal erosion will doom this property. California probably bulldozes 5 houses a year into the ocean because the beach is natually eroded. Boo Hoo? ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  13. I started caching with a Garmin GPS92 (Aviation unit) Now I own a Garmin 76s too, which I am very happy with. ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  14. quote: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Originally posted by Ron Streeter: It is akin to the *rule* that doesn't allow dogs on EBMUD trails where horses are allowed. In that case, I'm sure there are some differences in dog fecal matter as opposed to horse fecal matter, and for those dog owners who let their dogs run instead of having them on a leash, I can see where some squirrel (or maybe a cow) might get offended by a dog's presence. ************ Gee, I'm speechless. 15. I am one of your American Cousins, a bit lost however.. My wife is from McGuiresbridge in the north. She's a McGuire. Cheers to all of you! Monty ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank

  17. Hey Texas, Check out caches by Ruprex, he has the "urban assualt series" that are a lot of fun in the bay area. Cheers MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  18. Here are two in the South Bay (that's where I live, so) Mountain View Surplus, 1299 W El Camino Real Mounatin View, ca (These guys have lots of different kinds of cans, and cheep too!) and Stevens Creek Surplus, 3449 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose Cheers MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  19. Hi All, Here is some additional information on the "Haunted Toys" cache by Marky and Joanie. The finders comments regarding the difficulty in grabbing or retrieveing the cache are interesting. I myself had to hold on to it while the unknowing were seemingly camped out in a van next to it. I didn't mention it in my cache log as only last week I was the Last To Find a cache and thought my luck was in need of some assistance.....but I am not alone..Anyway, check out this new article on the Sunnyvale Toys R Us http://sunnyvalesun.com/sv-news4.shtml Cheers MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  20. Uh Oh, I thought you meant north Santa Clara County. Glad you didn't try to make it all the way up to Cupertino that night. My mistake MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  21. Drive up page Mill Road to Steven's creek county park parking lot, hike from there to Black Mountain on Montebello Ridge There'll be a few of us there Cheers MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  22. Yes Inspector, it could have been....Mules are not so sensitive to that green substance. And we are already sterile so ignorance is, uh, I forgot what it is. Actually Inspector, your assistance is probably needed at the "Resurrection of Superman Cache" as a "stiff" was discovered there this week. Poor Jimswim had to deal with that one. Could Kryptonite have had anything to do with that? ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  23. While seeking the "Mystery Science Theater" Cache yesterday at lunch, I walked to the cache location to find the cache container sitting in clear view on top of a garbage can. After doing a trade and the paperwork I re-placed it in a bush behind the can since I wasn't too sure where it was supposed to go. Well, I guess that the gardeners weren't through with that particular bush and it looks like they found it again as I checked this morning and it was gone. I have E-mailed the cache owner with this sad news. Any suggestion on what would have been a more appropriate way to deal with this? I think now I should have taken the cache for safekeeping and re-hid it later and taken new coordinates. The Sunnyvale Gardeners are a very efficient crew apparently. Sunnyvale parks are more groomed than Singapore, where an ugly garden will get you caned I hate being the "Last To Find" a cache ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  24. May someone could "divide" it and make 2 travel bugs out of one monkey. Presumably one of the two would be unrecognizable as anything at all. MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
  25. I have a plan... MtM ***************************************** This Space Intentionally Left Blank
