  1. Virtual Victor, my virtual travel bug had just over a million miles logged as of 05/16/03, but now shows only just over a hundred thousand. Not only that, all the logs have been lost as well. Now the Blue Fairy won’t change Victor into a real Travel Bug. It's a crime! Over 120 accounts worked to propel Victor to Victory and now it's mostly gone! Why? Why? Maybe he was only a Virtual Travel Bug, but he has a very real ID number and didn't deserve to be robbed of the fulfilment of his dreams. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  2. quote: How is it possible to have more bugs found than caches? I would have to say that some folks just like to play with their bugs. I saw where one fellow put 20,000 miles on his own travelbug by dropping it off and re-grabbing it again and again and again. I guess he was happy playing his game his way. Personally, I don't care who has caught the most bugs, what I want to know is who has the most miles on his travel bug. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  3. Roger, I was impressed with the time capsule device. But because it is not clear plastic, I will choose not to use it. We have had some problem with nut cases planting booby traps inside sealed objects resembling cache containers. So far the cops have not made any connection, but I'm sure they could. The booby traps have been acid/soda type which blow up when tipped or handled carelessly. One person was hospitalized. For my own standard, I will use biscotti containers which I get for free from the local book & coffee shop. The clear plastic allows the finder to see most of the contents at a quick glance. I do recomend washing it out to eliminate any scent that would attract critters who would ruin the whole thing. Also the biscotti container is a wide mouth, 1 gal. affair that can accomodate larger travel bugs, etc. I pack 'em full. See ya round, play fair, keep geoing. 4. I was in the city of Kowshung, Taiwan on Christmas Eve 1970. (Please forgive me if spelling is not correct.) There are so many beautiful places to hide a cache in Taiwan. I can not believe that GeoCaching is slow to get started. In response to the statement: quote:Does everybody have the desire to meet each other? Maybe we can create a meeting cache. I created a meeting cache in Florida, USA called "Ground Hog Day Picnic". The Ground Hog, or Woodchuck as it is sometimes called, is a small furry animal that digs holes in the ground. The legend about this animal is that if he comes out of his hole on February 2nd. and if he sees his own shadow, he will be afraid and go back into his hole which will bring six more weeks of winter. The Picnic meeting cache was a great success and we met many new friends with the same interest. This was also featured in our local newspaper, so it brought GeoCaching to the attention of many more people. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  5. quote:In the spirit of the original race, interference is suggested! I find the idea of suggested interference somewhat irresponsible. There are thousands of MIA T/B's already. What if all the Cannonballers were interfered with? No one would win. But in keeping with the "Spirit of the original race" I will certainly interfere with the pace car, if I find it, because that is apparently suggested by the owner. Can you say "Dragon Bait"? Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  6. quote: I think that moving & logging them is a simple thing. If some one can't under stand that, How can they read a GPS or a cache sheet?Mejas Well, Mejas, maybe they do understand. I happen to think that some people are just so mean spirited that they enjoy spoiling other people's fun. For example: how many people intentionally include "spoilers" when they log a find?? Example #2: I had opened a new cache with two or three T/B's in it. I came back the very next day to check how it had faired during the night's hard rain and found that it had had only one visitor since I had been there the day before. That visitor had taken a Travel Bug but had not made reference to it in the log book although they had entered a name. ( I can not find that name anywhere else in the GeoCache.com system.) Nor had they logged their find electronically on the cache's web page or the Travel Bug's page. That Bug is in the graveyard now, poor thing. After coming 10,000+ miles she only had a couple hundred miles to go to reach her goal. As far as the concept of the Travel Bug being dead is concerned, I think the "Where's George" system works fairly well. Some of the dollars do disappear, but most stay active for a long time because the object of money is to spend it, i.e.: pass it along. So in different forms, the concept of T/B's is not dead. No one wants to just keep a Where's George dollar, but they do want to keep those collectable or extra cute Travelers. Maybe a laminated, printed Travel Bug card would work because it just doesn't have the "keep me" appeal. Play fair or I'll sic my dragon on you. Go home! 7. I had our dog fixed, now he doesn't work. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  8. How can I find out which T/B has logged the most miles? Can anyone beat 60 thousand (and counting)? Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.

  10. quote: is there anyway to "release" a bug without logging an entry? Say for example I'm creating a new cache ... I don't see anything in the creating a cache sheet to also note a bug ... is the only way to do it ... to log as an "other"? The answer is yes! Use "Add a note" or "Other". If you add a note to any cache page and add your bug from your inventory and enter your log. Then come back and delete your entry from the cache page. the bug will magicly still remain on the cache page bug inventory. What's really bad is when a dragon eats you. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  11. quote:No good deed goes un-punished. Maybe a Virtual travel bug is the answer. I started one as a joke. Ha Ha! He has logged over 60,000 miles less than a month. Check out Virtual Victor, the world's first truely virtual travel bug. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  12. As with any Travel Bug, who knows what kind of bug will make the journey. We dream, we hope, we plan. But in the end we are dependant on the kindness of strangers. Fortunately they are mostly strangers who are much like us. There are a few who will intentionatly do you wrong, but they only hurt themselves more. Faith is the key. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  13. quote:My kids are grown Well, mine are, grown, too. But I'm not! I have fallen in love with McDonalds Happy Meal Furbys. For me they are the best travel bug. In fact I have re-created them into a new creature, the "McFurby of Clan McFurby". You can see their pictures if you do a search by travel bug name "McFurby". I have five McFurbys out there now. Hey, if you have some and don't want to use them as travel bugs, I'll take them. I'll pay postage, too. The hard part is letting them go into a cache where they will be all alone in the dark for days and days. On the more practical side, A travel bug should not be too large so it wouldn't fit in a smallish cache container. And not so small that it could fall on the ground and you wouldn't see it when you rehid the container. A Travel Bug should have a personality that speaks of it's owner, or be suitable for the quest on which it is sent. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  14. My answer to MIA T/Bs is Virtual Victor. Check him out, he's coming to a locationless cache virtually near you. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  15. I opened a new cache with a couple of T/Bs I had saved for a few days, no longer, plus one of my own. Floriduck#3 was missing after someone signed the log book as "ECONGANG". I had up-keep visits on either side of their visit, so I can say it was them. So OK! Why didn't they sign the E-log for my cache, why didn't they put Floriduck#3 in their inventory. Why doesn't their name show in a search for them????? Phooy! I E-mailed the Floriduck's owners when after a week he was still not removed from the cache record. He's in the Bug Graveyard now with oh, so many others. Somewhere there really is an island of lost toys. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.

  17. Can we enter Virtual Victor? He has his own pick up truck and will visit only virtual caches. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  18. Hey fellow heart patient, I feel for you about loosing your travel bug. I think there are only two things you can do about it. 1, "Fogetaboudit"! Your wife trusted to the fair play of others and not all others play fair . But it is only a game and not worth the effort of getting mad which will raise your blood pressure. The cache was TNLN but people did both, therefore you are ahead and shouldn't worry. Best of all, look at what your wife and friends did for you. 2, Send a nasty note to the bugnapper. Start a feud. It won't get you anything except nasty notes back. Why bother. If you have the tag numbers, change the name, change the goal, send him to the travel bug graveyard. I wouldn't waste what little time I have left. Do what's good and right and nice and forget about it. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Company.
  19. If our buddy hacksaw is in, so are we. No pictures yet. Gotta keep it under wraps. Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Co.
  20. How big is the average size cache? Will my racing Bug fit? How big a T-Bug should one enter? Do large bugs move faster than small ones? (Does size really matter?) I was going to enter my model Jag as a racing bug, but there seemed to be too much confusion coming from the other postees. Then I thought I would enter anyway 'cause, Hey, it's just a game. Then I realized I would probably be too late to enter, then I read that the starting date was moved back. Then I found that there was a run on T-Bug tags and ground speak was out of 'em for a while. Then I received the 8-pack I ordered a long time ago and forgot about. So now I have to make up my mind, would I want to go to California, stopping in every state to register my racing bug at a cache just to win a contest??? Is that cheating? What if I gave all the other bugs a lift too, just to be fair? quote:All that wander are not lost! Captain Walker, Frodo & the gang Dark River Rangers, Florida Co.
  21. Merry Christmas to all New Zeelanders, my friends in times of need. (There's a long story there) I'm thrilled to see so many NZ GeoCachers out and about. I'ld be there with you if I could. From Florida, the States, Go out and hide something, Thomas & Robert
