We just did something similar to that with the Cub Scouts on our last camping trip. We magnetized a needle and floated it on a leaf in the woods to see if it pointed north. Teaching the kids how to make a compass when they are lost and need to find a bearing. What your looking for may be something similar to that. Now to make it as a trackable coin type object is going to be a bit more difficult. Problem you will have is then you get them to magnetize the items they may not do it correctly and not all of the trackables will point north. Another problem you may have is that the metal coins sink and dont float, making it from work may allow it to float but then all your really doing is a wooden nickel with a compass rose on it with a piece of metal inside partially magnetized. Ok so heres the real story. We got an order from Sandy Johnson from Austin, Texas and we sent it out at the end of October after we moved to Arizona. I sent that package out without tracking. After my wife got a message thru her facebook account we found out she didn't receive the coins. So we shipped out another package with tracking. After she received them she decided she no longer wanted them and wanted to return them. We agreed that once I received the coins back I would issue a refund. Which I did that day with paypal as long as she could provide proof that the items were shipped. As soon as she confirmed it she would have received her money. I told her numerous times she had to check her paypal. She never followed up with paypal and therefor paypal ruled in my favor. After paypal ruled in my favor my wife and I received threats from her on facebook saying she; November 19 at 1:07pm Report Why are you now ignoring my requests for a refund when you have your coins back? If I don't receive my refund in the next 24 hours, I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau in Golden Valley, Arizona and Torrance, California. I also will file an online report with RipOff Report.com, so anyone who googles SoCalGeocoins or Matt or Nanette Thacker, will see negative information about your business and your tactics, ahead of your your website address. Your best bet now would be to issue the refund before all this comes down on your head! I called paypal today to file a harassment complaint against her and they told me she needs to cease and desist and that I am not to respond back to her. Because she never followed up with them and I sent out 2 sets of packages that I did everything in my power to make her happy. They said she is not entitled to a refund unless she can come up with that second set of coins which we did not receive back.

This was the official Event coin for the Big Bear Event this year. The Organizers backed out this year and Yard Farmers took over the event and we were asked to make the coin. The Event this year wasn't as big as previous years but there was a great turn out with all the people that came to play in the Big Bear Mountain off roading on all the trails.

I think that would be a great Idea and we would host one here in Southern California. There hasn't been a geocoinfest here since the one that was in Temecula.

As a vendor that has gone thru some of the same issues as some of the venders currently. We stuck it out and made good with everything promised. We have kept our name and are working hard to make more coins that people want. Those vendors that are changing their names to hide from past mistakes are wrong to do so. If they have had past problems they should work it out and move forward not just hide under a new name that makes people think they are trustworthy. Who is to say if they will not do the same mistakes that they previously did.

Maybe they went out caching like the rest of us over the weekend. They are really good at getting back to customers. Give it a little more time.

The new policies are great it will allow more people to come out with coins, only downside is the cost of the coins may be higher due to the initial costs of the molds and the icon. I still don't see many people who are making smaller runs of coins adding the icon up front. We try to put the icon up when we start so that when you 1st activate your coin you will have the icon there and not have to wait until we can afford to make one.

Just a note to let you all know that all our presale coins have been finished. 3 of the coins have been mailed out and you should have already received them. They were the Mercury, Crystal Dragon and Scurvy Dog coins. We just got our shipment of the Spiral Dragon Coins in and will be shipping out by the end of the week. Personally for your coin I would go thru cointracking.com for 12.00 you get to list your coin and send out a listing to their entire data base and they can buy your coin direct thru you and all you have to do is have a valid paypal account and ship out the coins after payments. I haven't spoken to Tracy since last week, She told me Tank was doing ok physically and that they were going to see if he could breathe on his own. And if so they would probably be moving him out of the hospital and into a home to help him.
