  1. I think what Dan said is right - make sure the window you are trying to view the cache page in says 'you are logged in' at the top right. The same thing happened to me - for some reason I was 'logged in' in one window and 'logged out' in another window at the same time. Regards, Lisa Edit: oh, you've sorted it out.
  2. Many thanks everyone - looks like we will be checking out local libraries. Lisa
  3. Does anyone know of any directories of internet cafes? We are going on a 2 week holiday in Wales and are planning much geocaching. Trouble is, we don't want to wait until we get home to log 2 weeks worth of caches. Many thanks, Lisa
  4. To T&J - has all the upset of the last day or two affected the cache bash at all? Regards, Lisa
  5. My thanks to all the admins also. Its really sad to see people who were willing and able to do work for the geocaching community feeling forced to leave. Regards, Lisa
  6. And me. You've pretty much said what I would have written if I were eloquent enough! Regards, Lisa
  7. If the GAGB website wording is all that the problem is can someone PLEASE change the website? I myself support the idea of an association but I agree, the wording is inaccurate - the association will only ever represent the association's members, not all UK cachers. Regards, Lisa
  8. Personally I'm sorry to see T&J go as I admire anyone who makes an effort to actually DO something for the benefits of cachers rather than just talk about it. Even if they do make mistakes along the way (they are only human after all). I don't blame them for their decision, though. I'm quite amazed at how confrontational these forums are sometimes. Regards, Lisa
  9. Its an odd thing about this forum. I'm constantly puzzled over why some people take offense at something that I took to be inoffensive when I read it. Maybe I just have an unusually tolerant nature. Regards, Lisa
  10. Many thanks to both Mark and Ian for thier hard work - it really is appreciated. Lisa
  11. Adam & I are planning to come and maybe help out if we can. Not sure about the camping though - would require purchasing a tent (which we had been thinking about, anyway). Regards, Lisa
  12. If you ever get bored with geocaching... GPS Drawing [This message was edited by Adam & Lisa on April 14, 2003 at 09:25 AM.]
  13. Wow - thanks for the prompt replies, guys! Trust me, I bought some cheap brand of cards I'd never heard of before which doesn't seem to correspond to any of the Avery layouts. I will have a go using a Word table and a tape measure. Cheers Lisa
  14. OK I've bought some business cards for use in my printer to make visiting cards with. Does anyone know if there is any easy way to format my design to print out properly on the cards (i.e. actally get the image squarely on the card)? Is there any (free) software out there which will do it or is it going to be a trial-and-error job using Paintshop Pro or Word? Cheers, Lisa
  15. I'm sure we are part of the (largely) silent majority that support you, T&J. We rarely post but often lurk and we think you do fantastic work for caching in the UK. Please stay!!!
  16. Sometimes time is short and we like a fairly quick cache to do, sometimes we like a good long or hilly walk when we have more time to spare. Whichever, it is much nicer if the location is worth going to for its own sake. Also, I agree what someone else said about there being a good clue/spoiler. We recently did a cache on holiday where the tree cover made getting an accurate lock difficult and we spent a very long time searching. We didn't want to give up as we probably wouldn't have a chance to go there again as it was so far from home. Regards, Lisa
  17. I don't have much of a problem myself, but it did occur to me that anyone living near a cache I visited on the Isle of Sheppey would have a problem. I gave it a try and the 'nearest' cache to GCCD7C (Minster, Sheppey) was GCD028 in Essex - listed as 9.9 miles away. The AA's route planner puts it at 66 miles.
  18. Thanks for all the welcome messages! Much appreciated. BTW the cat's name really is Minstrel (named by the RSPCA, not us) but he is now sadly departed, due a road accident in 1999.
  19. Hi folks - me and my hubby Adam just started caching at the weekend and we are hooked! I first found out about Geocaching via Yahoo picks (can't remember if I found the site directly or via a link to another site) but didn't do anything until the BBC Southeast Inside Out programme reminded me. Already got some potential locations in mind for our own caches! Regards, Lisa
