  1. What happened to FLG's post? EDIT: now a mod has combined the two threads, my question looks really stupid!
  2. Ah, well spotted - he has few enough finds between both his accounts to have possibly not realised what he had picked up. Anyway, I'm really glad it is back in circulation!
  3. Onr of mine just turned up 5 years and one month after vanishing! Can't imagine where it has been. Lisa
  4. Oh yes, I meant to add a link. The long lost TB. Edit: A quick search on the TB forum threw up this TB, missing for 7 months longer than mine. Oh well, a UK record maybe? Lisa
  5. I got a notification yesterday that someone had grabbed one of my TBs. I knew it was one that had gone missing but I was really surprised to see that it had been missing for 5 years - could be some sort of record! I wonder where it has been for all this time? It can't have been in the cache it was found in for all that time as the cache is only a year old. It also doesn't seem an obvious cache for someone to visit to drop off a TB they have hung onto for 5 years - i.e. it isn't a cache n dash. So, if you have been missing a TB for years - there is hope yet that it will turn up! Lisa
  6. That was exactly my point. Thanks for understanding! And I can think of at least one other example of a word (mentioned earlier in this thread) that is used innocently in the US, yet is pretty rude in the UK. Edit: or was it mentioned in the other thead - I've lost track!
  7. So you don't mind your kids using it in normal conversation? With teachers, etc? I don't have kids. Oh, and you didn't answer my question. I don't know what the "W" word is? Rhymes with tanker.
  8. So you don't mind your kids using it in normal conversation? With teachers, etc? I don't have kids. Oh, and you didn't answer my question.
  9. I think you are correct, however it would be a bummer if all the merchandise was printed up with the word Mega on them and it turned out not to be one! Lisa
  10. Honestly - an awful lot, if not all UK folks don't consider the D word inappropriate. Neither do we think the H word is (if it means what I think it means in your post). Maybe that's because there are a lot less catholics here? Do you consider the W word inappropriate? Lisa
  11. However, as you probably know, in the UK the D word is no more offensive than 'bother' or 'drat' and can be used interchangeably with those words. On the other hand there is a pretty offensive word that starts with a W that used to be virtually unheard of in the US (I believe it is gaining in usage in there now). I even saw it used as part of the name of a business in the US (a restaurant or cafe or something). My point is - are there any other words that will get someone here a ban or a warning that they might have used in all innocence? Lisa
  12. Of course, someone wouldn't be breaking the rules of the competition if they collected a coin but chose not to enter the competition. Lisa
  13. You'll have to put some mention of your previous handle in your signature - it'll take me ages to remember who you are otherwise. Lisa
  14. Well, I have been using the forum since before geocoins came about and was never aware that the geocoin section had different guidelines to the rest of the forum. Maybe this needs to be more widely publicised? I'm really glad I never felt any need to venture over to the geocoin area and risk tripping over guidelines I didn't know anything about! Lisa Edited to add: now I know that there are geocoin section-specific guidelines, I have spotted link to them (which is in very small text and easy to miss). However there is no mention there of the suspension without warning policy in force in this section which is different to the rest of the forum.
  15. I thought a warning was given for a first offence? Or is the geocoin forum a special case? Lisa
  16. I agree - what do the mods of that forum have against writing a polite note saying "you have posted something that you shouldn't have, please don't do it again"? Maybe that would be too much effort. Lisa
  17. Apparently some residents of the Hoo peninsular have been stopped several times just going to and from their own homes so an area best avoided for the time being! Lisa
  18. Yup - see page 2 of this thread - it's a known problem. Lisa
  19. Adam and I were very pleased we made the trip up from Kent for this event. We were very impressed with how well it all went and it clearly took a lot of effort to organise! Our thanks to all the members of the committee and anyone else who was helping out. Lisa
  20. Okay ....very sorry about that..I have given myself a double slap on the wrists. I didnt realise I was 'breaking any rules' but it appears by looking at some other of yesterday's posts I 'm not the only newbie to consider themselves told off. Is there an 'Apologies... I posted in the wrong forum' forum by any chance ????? You aren't breaking any rules - I suspect the post in question was written to make a point and not aimed at you. Lisa
  21. Hmmm Lisa, you seem to know a lot about reviewing and you are a 'girl'... could you be the new reviewer? Chris (MrB) Good god no, I'm not that stupid brave. Lisa
  22. I wouldn't call myself a dusty old person but I will answer your question. There were always reviewers (since I joined anyway) but the reviewer notes option didn't exist way back when. Lisa
  23. Not me - though I'd only heard the word used in a medical context (referring to skin). Lisa
  24. 645.1 miles away on Fetlar (Shetland). We found it 1 year and 3 months after it was placed! Lisa
