  1. You can also go to www.wheresmyrebate.com to check on all the rebates Magellan currently has on offer. Worth a look.
  2. If you are gonna eat Crow, at least kill it humanely first. 1. If this is a troll of yours, than forget the above. Just designate it as such and I will eat my crow. I've been on the 'net since '94 and know how even the most ardent 'net heads can sometimes fall prey to the most basic of fiascoes after a bit. 3. I use them in mine, and its been great. quote:Originally posted by nathanstl:Okay I just purchased a Sportrak Pro and when reading through the manual I noticed that at several points it says to make sure your using akaline aa batteries. Does this mean they don't recommend using rechargable NIMH batteries? I want to use them because this thing sucks batteries down. I'm on my third set already and I just bought it yesterday. I'm getting more like 5-7 hours out of them, but my digital camera is the same, with normal akalines it doesn't last very long. Now when I use my NIMH in the camera it lasts about 4 times as long!! So I'm hoping for the same response from the sportrak pro. nathanstl
  4. No Canadian GPS satellites. Not yet anyway quote:Originally posted by LoneHowler:ok refrencing back to a artical in this months discovery mag it said that there are 24 american GPS sattalights where my Rino labled one circling overhead as number 30, is my Canadain Rino picking up other counties perhaps even Canada's own GPS sattalights? or are there more american ones that they're not telling us about More to see, More to do
  5. Nowadays I think its good to be a NERD, we are in demand. quote:Originally posted by CoronaKid:Although I love caching and I am still fairly new to the sport, I can't help but feel a little nerdy everytime I put that lanyard around my neck. My wife stills says to me, "You're such a nerd!" Am I? Are we? I mean, what the heck are we actually doing anyways? I suppose the nerd stigma will slowly dissipate as the sport grows in popularity. Time will tell. --CoronaKid
  6. I plug my nose and it comes out my ears. quote:Originally posted by cachew nut:What does your funny sneeze sound like? You know, like when you feel a sneeze coming on and you are feeling a bit goofy. What does your funny sneeze sound like?
  7. Which camera do you have? Its a pretty standard feature to change the quality of which photos are taken. quote:Originally posted by Waterboss:Software did come with the camera but played with it for a while but no luck on how to resize it. But I'll also try some of these great idea's.
  8. Better get a lanyard before you break it or lose it. quote:Originally posted by jsstyle8:ok i just wanted everyone to know ..this product does everthing.. its water proff and i have dropped it 6 times already 2 times it hit the rocks and tumbled down the hill.... i highly recommend this product . i will never give it up ....so why are there higher priced units what do they have my magellan doesnt ???? i cant figure out what else i would use ...but maybe i am missing out!!!
  9. I can't beleve some of the stuff you can get for a buck. Lots of great items, mixed in with alot of crap. Basically, something for everyone.
  10. I guess it all depends on location. The Future Shop and Best Buy I was talking about are both in Leaside.
  11. Since we are talking about the Sportrak, I just bought a Leather cell phone case that fits it almost perfectly. Its for a Nokia 918. It was only $4.99 at Future Shop here in Toronto. BTW, they have the Sportrak map on sale for $299, which is good since Best Buy is currently selling it for $349.
  12. I have this one: http://www.canadiantire.ca/assortments/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=395969&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=185761&FOLDER%3C%3EbrowsePath=408697&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=408697&ASSORTMENT%3C%3East_id=166971&bmUID=1042423899409 quote:Originally posted by rm17:Hello, I would like your opinions on the two following compasses and which one is better. 13. This datasheet might help.... http://data.energizer.com/datasheets/library/rechargeables/consumer/accessories/chm4fc.pdf
  14. I know all about that "got to have it now" feeling. Hey, if you do spend the money on the Mapsend, I would sure like to get some feedback on what you think of it. Especially since we are in the same city. Thanks, Liberto. quote:Originally posted by mrcpu: quote:Originally posted by eroyd:I've seen the Sportrak Map available at a few retailers for $299 cdn. Gonefish'n on Vancouver Island for one sells them for that and will sell it with the Mapsend Canada CD for $399. The Sportrak is listed in the gpscentral web catalog for $294.95. They out of Alberta which means you can avoid P.S.T . Try to support your local business's first. See if they'll match prices or at least come close. Cool! Only thing is that Shipping cost... AND my "I HAVE TO HAVE IT NOW!!!!" problem :-) I'll perhaps check them out for the Mapsend CD though. Thanks all! Cheers, Rob Mobile Cache Command
  15. Sorry to repeat what res2100 said. I started to type the post before lunch, and then only submitted the reply when I got back. quote:Originally posted by res2100:It's $295 at GPSCentral (I bought my SporTrak Pro there), plus the great thing is that we save the PST...Also shipping is very reasonable. I have found that GPSCentral has the best prices for GPSes and accessories. Before buying mine, I shopped around at the various stores locally, but they were all overpriced and Best Buy would NOT match what I could get it for at GPSCentral. http://www.gpscentral.ca/products/magellan/sportrakmap.htm ...hope this helps. http://ca.geocities.com/rsab2100/pond.html
  16. I bought mine at Future Shop just after Christmas. It was on sale for $289.99 down from $329.00. Also, if you buy it online from Http://www.gpscentral.ca they have it for $294.00 and they will only charge you the GST. Of course there is $7 shipping, but there is still some savings.
  17. I agree. Without permission it is nothing more then graffiti. Anyone who is not a Geocacher would see it as graffiti. [This message was edited by Liberto on January 08, 2003 at 01:19 PM.]
  18. You can also go back into the original post and make changes. I have done that before.
  19. I was going to be a smart *** about the "Wife won't let me" part. But my wife will kill me is she saw it.
  20. I think most newbies are so excited to have a new GPS and wanting to go on their first find that they are unprepared. When I did my first, I didn't bring anything but my GPS. quote:Originally posted by billyjoebob:i haven't seen pictures uploaded from any of the newbie's first finds. why don't more newbie's post their pictures? i can see that after the first 5 or so finds, posting a picture would get old, but the first few finds, it's exciting, why not?
  21. Was definitly kidding. quote:Originally posted by Team GPSaxophone: quote:Originally posted by Liberto:How do you decrypt this " *****ing "? I hope you aren't serious, but here goes: Think of what a female dog is called....
  22. I have not tried it myself, but I would make sure the batteries in the unit are not just about to die. I think it will lead to problems if the battery dies and the update was not complete. quote:Originally posted by Readymixer~Vol: Has anyhad had issues when upgrading the SporTrak Map to v4.02? I have read that if you don't follow the directions you can corrupt the flash in the unit. I just want to know if there were any traps I need to watch out for. If you shoot for the moon and only get half way, think about how far you've gone.
  23. Which unit do you have? You might not even have that feature. quote:Originally posted by Texas Lucky Dog:Hello all.... I am looking for information about the WAAS feature. I am looking for a cache in my area and my GPS tells me it is directly in the middle of a fairly busy street. Now, others have found this cache and I am new to GeoCaching so I am sure the error is all mine and my GPS. I read thru the posts and one states "... disable your WAAS if you ever want to locate this one..." I don't even know what my WAAS is much less how to disable it! Could some wise seeker out there tutor me on this? Thanks ya'll... Thump
