  1. This is way over my head. I have been using Geoclip to move cache descriptions to my old Casio 250 via PC sync and the clipboard. It works very well but it is slow as you have to clip them one cache at a time. So I joined up, got the pocket query file, spun it, and now have html files from my search. How to I get these cache descriptions in bulk to my windows clipboard so I can download them to the Casio Viewer via PC sync?? Or do I just need a new Palm and Plucker? 2. Thanks all.. for the time being I will go with the serial cable on the desktop. However I have two unused usb ports so maybe one of "Larrys famous usb to serial adapters", would be the slick way to handle things.
  3. Now before you say.. of course you can't. here is what I want to do. I have two gps units, a palm,a digital camera.. well you get the picture. Can I build up a cable that will "split" one of my serial ports into two ports.? That way I could have both gps cables connected at all times and then just connect the gps wanted,(they use different connectors) change preferences and download. I would not have to reach behind the computer to keep changing the cables. Do I need blocking diodes in this home made splitter? I am thinking I would not need any blocking because only one gps unit would be connected to the other end of the serial cable at any one time. thanks wingryder
  4. Thanks Greg I will do just that. wingryder
  5. Decided to keep this jewel. I have a pc cable on the way but still need a factory manual. I know I can print one for free but thought maybe someone has one leftover. thankyou wingryder@sysim.net
  6. thanks to both of you. Just exactly what I wanted. I have not taken the time to download the manual.since it said it would take 73 pages. wow... so didnt even know that screen was there. I appreciate your help. wingryder
  7. Is there anyway to get the Etrex Summit to display the current long. and lat. and continously update this data when locked on? I know it will show this info when you "mark" a waypoint but would be nice to have it displayed all the time. (Like the 76S for example) Yes I know, pay the bucks and get the feature. I would just bet someone has figured out how this can be done. wingryder
  8. Garmin Etrex Summit (has the built in compass) No manual (avail free on line) no pc cable (9.00 on Ebay) Works perfect. about a 9 on condition. (tiny marks on screen) 145.00 with free shipping included. email me wingryder@spamsisna.com
  9. It was suggested I ask this here. How can I open a large prc (palm) file in windows and convert it to a twf file that Pcsync will send to my Casio Pocket Viewer. thanks wingryder
  10. No-one seemed to know how to convert this prc file to a twf file.. so who can tell me how to open a large .prc file in Windows. (2000)?? If I can read it I can copy it to the clipboard and then upload it to my Casio Pocket Viewer. (I hope) wingryder
  11. I have a large prc file I would like to upload to my Casio Pocket Viewer through PC sync forWindows. Pcsync seems to only open files with .twf extension. Can I convert the file or ??? When I try to open the prc file in Pc sync it says "unexpected error" Help please wingryder
  12. Oh do I have egg on my face... I missed that little "delete all" message under waypoints. It pays to re-read the manual. Sorry about that
  13. Thanks to all but.... First off that underwater reset button is a little too drastic for me. Second my gpsr is a 76S and its easy enough to delete waypoints "one at a time" I have over 800 in it. I am looking for a simple way to empty (dump) them all. As has been said.. if I just upload a new file.. it will just add those waypoints that are not dupes. There is a reset procedure for this receiver but then you have to go through the "new out of the box" sat. setup and I dont want that. All I want to do is "clear" the waypoints. ????
  14. My son and I geocache with the same handheld at different times. We maintain a "current" not found file for each of us. Is there a quick way to "clear" the current waypoints or will just uploading the new file do this automatically?
  15. Thanks gdps That is just what I wanted. All my loaded caches on three pages. Neat. thanks again wingryder
  16. Thankyou Gdps with your help and directions I can now strip out everything except the GCnames. Now how can I print more than one column of names. As I have it now it will print one column down the left side and still take many pages. I want it to print several columns with consecutive waypoints. Then I could get them all on say two or three pages. Sorry to be so much trouble wingryder
  17. Over time I have downloaded several hundred cache sites. How can print the GC names of these waypoints in a condensed version? If I print it off easygps its twenty pages or more. All I want is either the GC name or alpha name so I can quickly check to see if I have already loaded the waypoint. Yes I could search the gps but a master list would be nice. wingryder
  18. When I log on to Geocaching.com and do a search for x city... how do I get it to not display the caches I have already found and logged as found? (I like to clear up the clutter and see whats left). wingryder
  19. Ok so you load in 100 plus waypoints (caches) and then download the information for each to your pda using geoclip or whatever method you choose. How can I alphabetize (hope that is spelled right) by the name of the cache and not the GC waypoint number??? Would make finding it in the pda so much quicker. wingryder
  20. This is a newbe question. I have a gps full of waypoints with names like GC1234. How can I make the gps screen read the real cache names. Even just the first four letters would be enough. Those GC names are pretty worthless to me. wingryder
