  1. Certainly not... in fact I'd like to see some from other areas. I just posted in this forum because I try to avoid the main forum.
  2. That is the only button I ever went out of my way to get. They were pretty rare by the time I started caching... so when I saw Patoons had left one on table rock I went right up to get it. Little did I know BDC and LR&T had several of them. I eventually came up with one of those "laser" pointer key chains as well. Unlike my coins most of which I've traded for via mail just over half of my buttons came from caches.
  3. Buttons seem to be pretty common signature items. While I prefer coins I have collected a few buttons and other items... decided buttons needed there own thread. Here is my collection, lets see some more.
  4. I can't wait to go home and check my mailbox
  5. The first item I ever left in a cache was a coin with a 4 leafed clover on it... I didn't take anything in trade... sadly I was the last finder of that cache so who knows what happened to it. The first item I traded for was a glass bead... I left a state quarter. I still have that glass bead someplace. Back then I would trade often, but today I hardly ever trade anymore.
  6. This is a slightly revised list of what I need. This is my personal coin for trade Also anyone with personalized wooden nickels, plastic tokens, or poker chips I like to trade for those as well.
  7. A few weeks ago traffic was stopped between Oregon and California because of a suspicious box next to the "Welcome to California" sign. The first thing I though was "its a geocache" turns out it was someone's cremated remains
  8. I don't post often but I have changed avitars a few times. My current one is the blazers logo from 1970-91 and they should have never changed it. My first avitar comes from my favorite South Park episode about Gnomes who steal underpants for profit. I drew in the GPS and some underpants. After a while I wanted to change it. I had drawn a special pirate gnome during that whole pirate thing, but I never used it. I created this one when the hand/chin thing was all the rage I eventually decided I needed to change again and used an image of a painting I made... as you can tell I'm not much of an artist Now I'll probably use the trail blazer logo until I decide I need to change again. Might need to Show some OSU pride for them going to the College World Series
  9. Sometimes the hint is the first part of the cache page I read , but other times I search for caches with just waypoints and don't even have the hints with me. I use the hints most often in urban areas where I don't want to spend a lot of time looking. Now with my PDA I am less likely to look at the hint until I need it
  10. I'd love to go, but no way I could make it. One of these days though I'll get up there for that one.
  11. I had a State Officer stop and ask me what I was doing once. The cache was on the underside of a recycle bin and my friend Dave actually tipped it up so I could look kind of a stupid thing to do, but we thought no one was looking I explained the game and he laughed and said ok... he just wanted to know what we were up to. I called 911 once after finding a cache because on my return to my car I found a lady sitting in the mud outside of her car... she told me she had been breathing carbon monoxide for the last couple of hours. A quick look at her car and I saw the muffler in the back seat with towels proping up the hatchback. Anyway I called 911 and they concluded she was just really drunk... though I do think she was trying to commit suicide but her car ran out of gas, and she needed to run a hose from her exhaust into her car (but I wasn't going to suggest it to her) After paramedics checked her out the local deputies questioned me for a few minutes... honestly they were very unpleasant... made me feel almost criminal for calling it in.
  12. This sounds like fun and I just happen to be planning a trip that direction on that weekend. Depending on how my plans go I'll see if I can stop by.
  13. I have no doubt that Wahe is the real adventure. We'd need someone with a rope and some climbing experience to go before we'd attempt it... and what exactly is this "cliffs of doom" section like... I've got this thing about heights (I don't like them)
  14. Looks like the 16th will be our day since my friend Dave (Johonusburg) commited to the trip.
  15. Looks like it is. I actually picked that weekend so that I could also attend the NWTAMS Convention and Auction which is that same weekend in Portland (Figured I could go geocaching on Saturday and hit the convention on Sunday.) If enough people would like to go, but don't want to go on Champoeg weekend then I'd be open to making the trip another day. I plan on being in PDX the 16th anyway... I can always find other geocaches to do, but I'd rather not change plans unless there is some serious interest.
  16. I've had Ka-Ho-Nee Falls on my "to do" list for a long time. So I thought I'd brave putting this in the forums and seeing if I can get a group together to try it. I'd appriciate advice from those who have been there. The date I have in mind is July 16... plenty of time to consider making the trip. After a recent thread about The Pipeline* and the mention of great caches in the area I decided I needed to go get Ka-Ho-Nee Falls. I'd love to do pipeline as well... are they both achievable in a day? Wahe Ka-Ho-Nee is probably a little too extreme for me, but it does sound interesting.
  17. KV was pretty easy to work with... their time frame can be lengthy. They do good work and their work is obviously in demand. With that said there are certainly other fish in the sea. I have coins from a lot of companies... one of my favorites is CKayaks who had their coin made by BEX Engraving & Mint. Not sure at their cost but if and when I think of making another coin I'll probably contact them.
  18. You could have it freeze dried and shrinkwrapped... that would preserve it and make it pretty much odderless... maybe
  19. I once sent a couple of emails to a friend (in the same day) and she got them both a little more than 4 months later. Not sure how or why but it can happen. More than likely it is just someone who figured out they forgot to log the cache... happens all the time.
  20. I am definatley disapointed in myself... but how was I to know L&O CI would be so bad? Besides I rarely watch new shows... I wait till they rerun them so I can watch daily rather than weekly... or buy the DVD
  21. First time I've watched that particular show... I wasn't impressed. I could have written a better story than that. Pretty lousy geocaching tie in. Then again what do I really expect... television was never meant to be believable.
  22. 1. Carrying Case 2. Car Power Adapter Everything else is optional. I don't have any maps for my Legend beyond the basemap... maps are only for those who don't like driving in circles I do imagine they'd be useful for urban areas you're not familiar with.
  23. 27... with 391 caches I will be the youngest cacher in the Rogue Valley to reach 1000 and I have about 30 years to do it
  24. I think it has already started... I saw a couple of active canadian geocoins sell on eBay. And canadian coins are still for sale. Very little can stop someone who thinks they can make a buck.
