DO YOU READ THE FORUMS? YES OR NO?
Jomarac5 replied to Jomarac5's topic in General geocaching topics
Woodsters knows what he speaks of when it comes to caching. His advice is often very good. The person below me understands that it's not important whether someone answers yes or no to the poll, only that they *do* answer yes or no to the poll. Either way, they confirm that they *read* this forum, thereby giving us an indication of how many people read the forums and an indication of how many post to the forums. If the person below me doesn't get it right now, they will by the time the week is up. The person below me also puts tuna fish sandwiches in caches... -
DO YOU READ THE FORUMS? YES OR NO?

DO YOU READ THE FORUMS? YES OR NO?

The person above me didn't write anything about the person below them. The person below me will be the same person as the person above me and will write something funny about the person below them. ***** -

WANTED: Paddling partner with big arms. My wife now can't make it on that weekend so I have an empty seat in my double kayak. If anyone wants to go and hasn't yet made kayak arrangements, you're more than welcome to paddle up with me. *****

DO YOU READ THE FORUMS? YES OR NO?

The person below me: Reads the forums... ***** -
There was recent discussion regarding how many people involved in caching read the forums at this website. The numbers quoted seemed unreasonable, and I thought it might be interesting to see how many people actually read the general forums over the course of a week. For those of you who post on a regular basis, please add something funny about the "person below me" -- but only for a period of one week. Doing so will bump the thread up and near the top of the board so that the majority of visitors to this forum will see it. If you have access to multiple computers, please only answer the poll once, we'll try to keep this as honest as possible. At the end of the week, (around 9:00AM on Friday, September 19th), we request that someone from Groundspeak close the thread. Even if you don't ever post to the forums, please, just this once, participate by selecting an answer to the following question: DO YOU READ THE FORUMS?

I voted to allow Team360's virtual. And as I've said before: Have both. Think about it -- the virtual is not getting in the way of the physical cache. Nor is the physical cache getting in the way of the virtual. They don't conflict in any way. Forget the tenth mile rule and treat each type separately. You can now go and find a physical cache AND pick up a virtual while you're at it. If you don't like one or the other, then don't do it. What's so difficult about this? *****

Hey Peregrine007, does that boat come with the optional matching water wings (you know, the ones that go on your arms) in case you fall out? *****

Dagg, I've got a friend that also has the same boat as you -- he really likes it too. *****

Gorak -- we'll need to be on the water by 9:30AM so you'll need to be there earlier to pack your boat. I plan to be there around 8:00AM. As you mentioned, we'll meet on the beach in front of the Deep Cove Kayak Centre. You'll have to park your car on the street as there is no overnight parking in the nearby parking lots. Shouldn't be a problem finding a parking spot on the street at that hour. Dagg -- I'd really like to meet Mr. Hutchinson too -- he's a living legend. Maybe we should put this trip off until the following weekend (just kidding). Is your boat a P&H or a Current Design? *****

Good News For Some! As of September 9th, the North Shore mountains are now open again. The following (as of Sep 9, 2003) is from the Ministry of Forests Protection Branch: The following forest districts are again open to backcountry travel: Squamish, South Island (Vancouver Island), Rocky Mountain, Columbia, Arrow Boundary and Kootenay Lake, except where other closures are in effect. The following forest districts remain closed because of the continuing extreme fire hazard: Chilliwack, Cascades, Kamloops, Okanagan-Shuswap and the Headwaters forest district south of Blue River. See the Ministry of Forests website for more information. You can also call 1-888-3FOREST for more information. *****

Great News! MrPeabody, you can book that kayak rental now. I just called the Squamish Forest District and the backcountry ban in Indian Arm has now been lifted. We're good to go. ----- Pat, glad you liked yesterday's lunch. Sorry, but since you complained about the salmon being too dry, you're on your own for your meals from this point forward. This ain't no restaurant man! *****

GeoCache Pirate Appears to be Back Up & Running
Jomarac5 replied to Mark 42's topic in General geocaching topics
Mark 42, wasn't it you who posted this: Looks like you can't make up your own mind about what you think. ***** -
I don't understand why, if knowing that there are so many who object to religious materials being left in caches that some *still* insist that it's OK to do so. I doubt that it's doing your causes any good. So why do it? *****
-
You guys are all *so* correct. Thanks for showing me the errors of my way. *****
-
Mr Peabody, we can't say 100% at this time that the event will take place on the 20th as the backcountry ban is still in effect. With the current weather situation, I'm hopeful that the ban will be lifted. I heard on the radio today that the ban on accessing the North Shore mountains has been lifted. I'll call the Forestry Service office tomorrow and find out from them. I was paddling for five hours on the Arm today (took Pat Patterson to do the three lower caches) in the pouring rain -- it was quite nice. *****

Wow (again), this is great! I don't even get two threads into the forums and find controversy here too! This is rather disturbing to me as I didn't start any of it. I don't think that religious or political propaganda (or any other such materials) are appropriate in a cache. But if I find a cache with this type of stuff in it (and I have) I simply choose to ignore it (either that, or I remove it without mentioning it to anyone -- you'll just never know ). To think that all this could have been avoided if the person who wrote the log just removed the material and didn't say anything in their log. What's even more disturbing is that I've agreed with Seneca twice in the same day. *****
-
Wow, I go away for a day and nothing changes -- I guess it's not only me that gets things heated here. I must say that I tend to agree with RK and Seneca on this one. I myself am a bit miffed at all this politically correct crap -- it's just a bit too silly for me. BTW: I heard on the radio today that cows all over North America are upset about the term "homo milk" and are petitioning to have it renamed "man-milk". Where will it end? *****
