  1. I have been having the exact same problem. It occurs on my home computer, as well as, my work computer but not every time. I did start happening right after I noticed some changes to the site.
  2. Same problem as everyone else but I'm so frustrated with these maps I have to vent. I agree, give us the old mapping back!!!!! I've been trying to print out a map but I only get a portion of the map on the printout. There is no button to make the map printer friendly. I also noticed that the topo maps can not be made printer friendly anymore. That's probably not a gc.com problem but I just want to print a map with all the caches in a particular area and I just can't do it. I'm very surprised by the lack of response from the power that be.
  3. A couple of years ago, I took a friend of mine geocaching for the first time. At the time we lived in West Virginia and he was out for a visit. I can't remember the name of the cache but it was at the top of this hill in dense brush and the usual stickers. We took some long round-about hike to the cache but we finally found it. We were totally turned around; no idea where we were. Luckily, I had marked the location of the car. I was letting him use the GPS. He said, "We hiked all that way and look, the car is just over thereeeeeeeee....." He took a few steps towards the car but it was a pretty steep drop off in that direction, hence the round-about hike. He tumbled head over heels for a good 20 yards down this hill finally using a big sticker bush to stop his fall. He was pretty scrapped, cut , banged, and briused but OK. After I extricatred him from the stickers, I mentioned one of my Golden Caching Rules, "Stick to the trails as long as possible even if it means a longer hike.
  4. Already mentioned but, "Oh No, not another micro alongside a major highway!" We were recently visiting relatives in Florida and tried to get a little local caching in. The first 3 caches we visited were all micros within 0.2 miles of each other along a major highway. We drove up, took a quick look, got back in the car and moved on. Pretty hard to be stealthy with all the cars whizzing by.
  5. I've read both Angels and Demons and the Da Vinci Code. Loved them both. Something about the treasure hunt theme that I like. Must be why I like geocaching so much. I recently started working at a different location and now have a 20+ mile commute. I just started getting into books on tape and they really make the drive go by quickly. Unfortunately, the local library has a very limited selection of books on tape.
  6. We were out caching today and this particular cache was located near a frisbee golf course. One of the other logs for the cache mentioned that they also logged a virtual reverse cache for this location. I had never heard of a virtual reverse cache before. I looked at the cachers other logs and saw that the cache he logged was for coordinates of any frisbee golf course. You find a course and log it's coorindinates. I tried to search for this type of cache but could not figure out how to do it. Does anyone know how to search for virtual reverse caches?
  7. Hi Delaware Cachers. We will be moving to Delaware (actually just over the line into PA) from West Virginia in the next month. I have already done some caching in Delaware. Compared to my area of WV, Delaware has lots of caches that don't require long trips. My 2 sons and I will be busy for many months. I was wondering if there are any Delaware caching organizations or groups? Do any Delaware cachers get together periodically?
  8. Hi WVDan, I live in WV myself but I am orginally from Delaware. We were home visiting friends and relatives over the Easter holiday so I worked in a little caching. I was surprised at how many caches there were. From my parents zip code there were 32 caches within 10 miles. Nothing like the long distances between caches in WV. If you have time to head North (maybe 50 miles from Dover) there is a great bunch of caches at the Fairhill Nature Resource Management Area. One stop nets you 10 caches (2 multis and 8 regular caches). http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=9584 When are you heading to Delaware?
  9. One of my first caches was called The Mothman Returns! in Point Pleasants, West Virginia. http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?ID=4541 The cache is hidden at the spot that the Mothman was first spotted in 1966. The story was made into a movie starring Richard Gere. We were there on an overcast day in December and it was SPOOKY! Didn't see the Mothman though.
  10. With all the discussion around the first cache in WV, I was wondering if anyone has logged ALL the WV caches? How do you actually tell how many caches are in the state? Searching WV yields 123 caches but at least 2 of these are meetings. Do archived caches count?
  11. Is that cool or what! Great article on geocaching. It was kind of a shock to see "real names." I half expected the reporter to use your cache names. With all the publicity, I wonder if we will see a jump in new cachers? The more the merrier. Bookworm3
  12. We were already to make the trek to Charleston. We even planned on hitting a couple of caches along the way, but because of the snow we wimped out. Sounds like the party was a blast. We'll make the next one....
  13. Me and my two sons will try to be there. It's a little bit of a drive from Parkersburg but maybe we'll hit a cache or two on the way!
  14. Hi All, I have only been caching since December, but I'm addicted. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I actual dream about caching. I have checked this forum a couple of times and I am glad to see some WV cachers talking. I usually go caching with my two sons and my dog.
