  1. well I for one don't want my money back, but I also don't want their revised intro to replace the paid app I like.. If they do take it away all of us who paid should get a refund. but personally I would much rather keep the app I like, and paid for.. I really don't care for or want this new one. if it comes down to it, I will likely use C:geo
  2. So let me get this strait, all us users who have dished out the funds to buy the "official paid app" will be loosing this for their new jazzed up previously called into version?? Really?? your going to take away something we all paid for? For an updated version of something we did not want... looks like C:geo will see a whole lot more use once this absurd move takes place. I have tried, and hated the intro version, and am no more impressed with the new version. How can you justify taking away something we like, and paid good money for???
  3. oh I know there are other options. however it was there, and handy. I think its a waist to run a PQ nearly as often as I lokked on that list. I will have to do some digging to see if I can come up with that URL.
  4. I really miss the old newest in my area list link we once had on our profile. I used it all the time to keep up on the latest hides and events.
  5. I don't know about everyone else, but I used the newest caches link all the time! why is it gone?
  6. My wife has both I5 and a Samsung G3, and honestly we found my Blackberry to have a bit better accuracy. I am kind of leaning toward the Sony mostly due to being waterproof, as I cache year round, in all sorts of weather. I have dropped my phone into the snow countless times, luckily it has never landed in an actual pool of water, but that's always a possibility. But GPS accuracy is an important consideration to me as well, as I don't always have and use my Garmin when out and about.
  7. well its now again time for a new phone. Not starting a GPS VS Phone debate or anything, I have a GPS as well. I have used several phones now, using several different apps. What is everyone's opinion on what is the best caching phone. I have heard several people say the I5's are not as accurate as the older models. Any consensus on what phone has the best GPS function? I like the idea of the Sony being waterproof, but that's one phone I have not physically tried. Anyone have feedback on one?
  8. I am not a fan of how labs mess up the stats, I guess that's why you can now edit your milestones
  9. WOW! Ammo cans are totally my favorite! you can even get them in plastic now. I still like the good old steel.. Tupperware breaks in the cold of winter. ammo cans don't. they are the best hides out there.
  10. WOW, as much as I enjoy being naked... ya the thought of other naked geocachers is truly frightening... and the thought of caching naked... um ya.. probly not... as everyone has already pointed out the thorns, sticks, bugs, and thought of running into others puts that thought to rest fairly quickly. and where would I pack all my gear??
  11. that's not the rest of the story.... just one more outlined point of some of the foolish things wrong with game guidelines. so the way it is one could make an account up to hide a "vacation cache"... my example is merely how is this acceptable when someone with stats cannot make the same hide... explain that quacks?
  12. bit of a difference from the founder to the current game... point being why are people actually get out and play the game rather than sitting on a computer creating false identities, perhaps false or fake hides... I would assume the reviewer's don't care much for these shenanigans either. Are people not supposed to have to maintain their hides now??? If not, then why did my brother-in-law have his cache submission declined when hiding a cache while on vacation? So a faceless geocacher with no identity what so ever can get away with putting out hides, but an avid player can not??? how does that work?
  13. Wow there seem to be a lot of Quacks on this here forum HAHAHA Ya no worries I don't have "my knickers in a bunch" just giving my opinion, like it or not. Actual geocachers go out and find things, they don't just sit on a computer and come up with silly reasons to make "sock puppets" and fake accounts... real cachers look after, and maintain their hides, and are proud to have their name on them... If one cant go out to find a few, what point or reason do they have to hide one?
  14. whatever the reason it should not be... If you are not an experienced cacher you should not put out hides.. if you are, you should be responsible enough to put your name on it. there should really be guidelines prohibiting this. anyone putting out hide really should have a certain amount of finds under their belt. simple as that.. and since you are supposed to be responsible for maintaining your cache, you should first have to show the community you are a player by having some stats. this is a poor way of getting out of being accountable for your hide, and just not cool
  15. Ok, I have personally seen this a few times, and really do not understand the logic of it or why GC will allow it. A hide will pop up by a CO with no finds or stats what's so ever! then there is an issue, and now what? No accountability what's so ever! I can understand a group or organization starting an account to put out hides, but when they are private, it seems to me that its by somebody who must cache but for whatever reason does not want their "identity" associated with their hide. How is this acceptable??
  16. started out with am old school one called eagle. didnt take me long to upgrade to an old style etrex, which was a great unit! now I am using a 62S. honestly I have yet to master it. I do like it, however its much harder on batt's than the old etrex. I do most caching by phone now tho. no waisting caching time loading caches and so forth, and being rechargable, saves me a pile of money on batteries. However, out in the feild the phone sucks its power fairly quickly as well. I figure its good for about a 4hr run before needing a charge.
