  1. Why don't you go here for your questions: http://www.usps.com/. Anytime you mail outside the US and it's territories you use a custom form. If you mail to a military base outside of the US you use a custom form and you will have to use international rates and mailers for some. I've had packages get to their destination in the UK and Germany in 4 days using international priorty small flat rate mailers. You can put a stuffed padded mailer inside them and they cost the same as long as you can close it. The form 2976 (small green one) is used on small packets and flats. If you are going to mail internationally you ask the clerk for this form and have it filled out before you get to the window, most have them available in the lobby. And if you think you will mail more ask for them. That goes for priorty mailers both international and domestic. If you call your local post office and ask them when would be a good time for you to mail 60 or so padded envelopes they'll tell you when their down times are or have someone on hand to handle the extra load. It makes for a better transaction, remember attitude makes a difference (give them some tude dude and see what goin postal is all about) you be surprised at how easy it is for something going next door to suddenly go across the country before it gets there.

  2. If you own a travel bug or coin you are the one that decides the goal of that trackable. If you want to just keep it in your collection or get mileage on it you can log it in and out of events or caches you visit. The control feature on the inventory drop down helps move several at a time instead of one at a time. Theres no need to worry about it messing up when you are moving a bug since it only drops the ones highlighted. I activate coins I plan to keep, that way if I decide later on to make it a travel bug and put it in the wild I can go back and give it a goal. You own them whether you activate or not, some don't activate so they can sell or trade them later. But that's the good thing about all this you decide.

  3. I'm putting 2 in the Barney Rubble cache 1 activated and 1 unactivated and might do a couple in other caches in the area. And all 4/4 and above caches I do from now on will have one left in them.

  4. Yes, I remember up the creek without a paddle and in a CAVE without a flashilight also.

ARGHH! If you be testing the plank first, I'll be walkin the plank also. Err, that is if the cannon is aimed in the other direction.... Uhmmmm .... I'm bringin a life vest.

I can see your next personal geocoin. A flamin' tennis ball!

A flamin' tennis ball would look too much like a basketball. but you are giving me an idea. Don't forget your pirate outfit so you can walk the plank and look for a nano!

  5. I had my Moses coins dropped in my hand and didn't have to climb up a bluff that was 2 tenths or walk across a log over water or walk a trussle or I-beam bridge to get to. :P But would have surely done any of these things to get this coin.

I love it. The detail and the colors are great. It's just one of the coins that feels like you are holding something in your hand. Pictures do not do this coin justice, it is very classy.

This is a VERY nice addition to my collection and is one of my favorites as well as the cacher. :P

Moses! You Rock!!!... and Roll sometimes according to JayPea. :P

Thanks for the coin and getting me in those adventurous caching situations and not letting me get hurt. :P

B1/2 I've never have forced you up a bluff for 2/10ths of a mile but I have sent you up a creek without a paddle. I might bring back the plank at my event on the 24th, will you walk it?:P:ph34r:

  6. I've seen people not want to spend an extra 15 cents to mail a package and it would mean the difference between parcel post and priorty mail (2-3 days or 5-7).

Last time I sent a package I splurged and spent the extra 15 cents for a faster delivery. It took 10 days to deliver the package one state over.

Yea they use mules in North Carolina

  7. I work for the post office and they will insure for the replacement value ( the price to purchase said item) not for a suggested inflated price. Because you say these collectables are more valuable you must prove this claim through an accredited appraisor. If not then any Joeblow can insure an item for ten times it's value and claim the postal service lost or damaged it. If you insure for less than $50.00 it will not have a tracking number, if the clerk or carrier your package comes into contact with doesn't do their job and scan it, tracking becomes useless. I mailed out my coins using delivery confirmation and had to contact a couple of buyers because it wasn't scan delivered on their end, I also got one back because the package had been flatted out (all the little bubbles had been popped, might have been a stressed out carrier) and didn't met the width requirement. I found out after inserting it in another envelope and mailing it off that I could have gotten my money back on the original if I had brought the envelope back in with the markings on it for the reason of return.

If you want to send something that has value and it's hard to prove said value, pack it securely and include your addresses on the item before you slip it in the mailer. Spend the extra money and send it Express mail which has built in insurance and tracking and is delivered 365 days a year including Sundays and Christmas.

I've seen people not want to spend an extra 15 cents to mail a package and it would mean the difference between parcel post and priorty mail (2-3 days or 5-7). In over 21 years of service I've seen just about everything that people try and everything that can go wrong. It's not a perfect system but it works the majority of the time.

Just remember before you send out anything that has value to you or the person on the other end, it's a good idea to take precautions on packing, labeling, identifing (take a picture) and protecting the item. Because after it leaves your hands and the clerk that puts it in the mail system, no one else knows how precious it is to you. It just becomes another piece of mail.

  8. I'm sure this has been addressed before, but a cursory search yielded no results. I just got a Geo-Coin that kind of represents me well, so I was considering making it a personal coin that I log in and out of each cache I visit/have visited. Is this legal/allowed/ethical? Is there an easy way to log all my old finds? Thanks in advance.

If the coin or bug is owned by someone and it has a goal attached to it, you should help it toward that goal and put it on a watch list to see when it reaches said goal. If it's goal is to travel from cache to cache and see how many miles it can get then theres nothing wrong with keeping it in your pocket and logging it in each cache you visit, take pictures of it at the cache location. I had a travel bug that was alittle different and it had it's picture taken in some strange places, we enjoyed seeing all the places it went to. http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=24013

Hitchhikers as they were called early on were put out with that in mind, the owner liked to see it travel near and far and hopefully see some pictures of it and the people it came in contact with.

I've got some coins that are going into 5/5 caches and they will be there for the taking and their only goal is to see more true 5/5 caches.

  9. We will be there. Looking for newer and older version 1's personal geocoins that I don't have. I can't wait to meet everyone that I have traded/talked with. Question: How many geocoins can I put in my suitcase and keep it within weight limits for a plane flight?

    :):)

500 coins weigh about 43lbs depending on the size, so I guess you'll have plenty of coins available in Dallas

  10. Got these yesterday! :o

    Very Nice!!

Had some good fun with the envelope at church last night! :)

Showing it off to everyone that I'd got mail from "Moses" and that he didn't live in heaven as thought, but actually in Tennessee!!:blink::)
