  1. Rather non-descript place, eh? So does that mean that Groundspeak has completely abandoned its 5th Avenue location, or is it just that Jeremy has moved where he works?
  2. Less rain! Rain screws up any chance of me going geocaching. I tried geocaching in the rain once, and it wasn't fun.
  3. We have one of those in my area, but the keys aren't trackable.
  4. Only the large contributors get invited. No, just kidding. You can send a note to contact@geocaching.com and say you want to visit. The visits are Friday afternoons a 2pm, unless that has been changed. Bring coins, bugs and swag. There is an awesome cache to find and swap. Jim Although the street address has already been leaked.
  5. If we played it higher in the air, would it be a strato-cacher? (and indeed that was terrible, so I had to respond as badly) "-caster!" D'oh!
  6. What you need for true telecaching is a video link to the remote finder.
  7. Canadians can already find all of the benchmarks they want since they are already listed on the site. I must be confused. You are confused. They're already listed on NRCan's site, but not on geocaching.com.
  8. Unrelated, but another benchmark-related request. Do you think you could allow Canadians to do benchmark hunting on geocaching.com by licensing the data from http://www.geod.nrcan.gc.ca/online_data_e.php?
  9. Then make the colour code optional through the user preferences.
  10. To make different cache types really stand out, I'd like to see a consistent colour code implemented on geocaching.com—especially on the maps—for all of them: Traditional: Green Multi-cache: Yellow Mystery/puzzle: Blue Letterbox hybrid: Orange (cache icon should be coloured orange to match) Earthcache: Brown Wherigo: Aqua Event: Red CITO: Pale blue
  11. Why is my Groundspeak Weekly Newsletter in miles again? Please resend this week's newsletter to me in kilometres.
  12. Yeah. It can look like you're doing espionage.
  13. I thought we just called that a "pocket query".
  14. Shhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Don't send too many muggles Jeremy's way!
  15. Even better, have GZ ID'd from waymarks.
  16. The eTrex H has the high-sensitivity receiver system that the Geko 301 lacks. I recommend you choose the eTrex H. As for the interface problem, all you need is a USB-to-RS232 cable. They go for as little as $2 on eBay.
  17. Just make sure you take the full solar analemma into account. And make sure you synchronize your camera's clock to your GPSr's clock. Hey, if you want another idea for a difficult cache, why not show the GPS satellite skyview plot for a particular date and time from the cache site? You can reconstruct a satellite skyview plot by using the numbers in the $GPGSV sentences from your GPS's NMEA output, but to do that, you'll need to take a laptop to the cache site.
  18. Why not just give those particular waymarks GC codes? Oh, that's right, you'd have to overhaul the geocaching.com site to do that.
  19. Which results in S 32°11.597' E116°01.085'. Which is east of the Southwestern Highway, just south of the intersection with Eleventh Road.
  20. DTBSL: "dropped travel bug, signed log" TTBSL: "took travel bug, signed log" TF3: "thanks for the first to find" SPOD: "suspicious pile of debris", something most likely to conceal a cache ROOT: "ran out of time" Any other personal acronyms (six characters or less) that you use in your cache logs?
  21. I've wanted to add coloured text to a log on a cache's webpage, but I don't know how to do that. I've tried '<font color=""></font>', but that's stripped out, and I've tried '', but the site ignores that. Does anybody here know how to put coloured text into a log?
  22. Shhhhhhh!!! Don't give thieves any ideas! I use just one unit for geocaching, my trusty 76CSx. I keep it with me everywhere I go.
  23. Try adding ", USA" or ", US" after the ZIP codes. That problem manifests itself with the search box on the front page, but not on the /seek/ or /seek/nearest.aspx pages.
