  1. That's certainly true! My cockerspaniel has had a golden-yellow coat for 6 years—now, all of a sudden, his coat is black. Z.
  2. Beavers have really big front teeth and I have tried to hold them and paint a picture on their front teeth. So far I have not been able to do this... If I could somehow get my paint can open with one hand and hold the beaver with the other I might be able to do it. Beavers just don't appreciate art. Other than that they are all right, I guess. I have forgotten about the cache a long time ago. What I think happened was when I submitted the cache, someone who works as a helper for Geocaching called their evil friend and told them there was a good new cache from a newbie up for grabs. I don't hold a grudge though. A couple of the items have turned up in local caches so I guess I am still contributing to the sport I saw recently that someone else had listed a cache in RestHaven and they let it through. They blocked mine, remember Z. ------------------------ FIGHT BACK AGAINST SPAM! Download Spam Inspector, the Award Winning Anti-Spam Filter http://snurl.com/21bk
  3. I forgot to include a deck of cards. If you are lost just find a flat rock and start a game of solitaire; in no time at all, someone will be looking over your shoulder telling you to put the black 9 on the red 10 Z.
  4. I have a jungle first-aid kit that I picked up from cheaperthandirt.com and an old nasal spray filled with hydrogen peroxide, plus a tube of Neosporin, eye drops, bactirin ointment, surgical gloves, enteric coated aspirins, snake-bite kit, sewing kit, flashlight, FRS radio, mosquito repellent, extra socks, toilet paper, garbage bags, pepper spray, alcohol swabs, q-tips, fingernail clippers, travel toothbrush, Akwa tears ointment, disposable razor, pens, pencils, notebook, safety pins, shoelaces, rubberbands, extra pair of reading glasses, 2-quart canteen, knife, chapstick, rubber duck, insulin kit, glucose, allergy cream (bites), disposable lighter, jersey gloves, poncho. That's all, I think. Z.
  5. Ok, in order to satisfy both the police and management we'll take 2 GPSr's; leave one in the car and take the other one in with us
  6. The name of the place is "Resthaven Wildlife Area", so they probably archived it because it IS a wildlife area. Was this what was confusing you? They allow fishing and hunting there. Z.
  7. Oh well... whatever happened the cache is gone so I'll have to try again. Since it was my first cache I wanted it to be a good one and sunk about $35 bucks in it. I had a $12.00 set of hitler stamps in there... maybe a stamp collector got it Z.
  8. Mtn_Man works for Geocaching.com. After I sent in the report he sent me an email saying he would have to archive it because of ODNR policy. It was well hidden and no one could have found it without the coordinates. I believe that if a ranger had somehow found it he (she) would not have left the garbage bag behind. Z. Douglas R Davis
  9. I am from Sandusky. Just found my first cache yesterday.
  10. Someone stole my first cache! I mistakenly hid this cache in Resthaven Wildlife Area (forbidden by Ohio DNR). and posted it in a report. Received am email from Mtn_Man that the cache was illegal and I should remove it. Went to get it the follow weekend and someone had stolen it. It was a 4-gallon bucket and I put it inside a garbage bag and sealed it with a twist tie. They took the bucket and contents but left the garbage bag. Since the cache was archived right away by Geocaching it never made it to the list. This was a well-hidden cache and nobody stumbled over it! So how did they get word on where it was? Doug - Zaarenoc
  11. I had a chance to discuss this GPS issue today with 3 Cedar Point cops and they said there was no policy in effect concerning GPS units. Zaarenoc Sandusky, Ohio
  12. I went to get the cache and relocate it today but it was gone! It was a 4-gallon bucket enclosed in a trash bag with a tie. All that was left was the trash bag. This was my first cache and I really went all out to make it a good one. I was the only one that knew where it was. I sent the report to geocaching but it was never listed due to Ohio DNR policy. Believe me, no one could just stumble on this cache. How did the word get out that it was there? Doug - Zaarenoc
  13. That's a good tip and I will remember it. The cache went directly into the archives because Ohio DNR doesn't allow caches. I grew up playing in that wildlife area and didn't give it a thought. Thanks, Doug
  14. Ok, thank you I have relisted it today. Doug
  15. If I post a new cache and they decide not to list it for some reason, do they notify me of that? I posted a new one on the 13th of May, 2003 and haven't heard anything yet and it didn't make it to the list. Doug Davis
  16. Thank you for the prompt answer I think I have found an adaptor from Staples that will suffice. $83.00 for a little adaptor is expensive though. Doug

  18. I just bought a new SporTrac Pro and a new Toshiba laptop. The cable to connect the gps unit to the laptop does not have a connector that matches any on my laptop. The cable ends with a 9-pin (serial port?) connector but my laptop does not have one of these. Just 4 USB ports, a parallel port, J-5 LAN, phone connector and a 15-pin connector. Aren't laptops supposed to have serial ports? Thanks, Doug
  19. Yes there has only been the one. I originally thought it was two but realized it was the same person using a different email address. Today we gave the coordinates to a person over the phone and the came from 30 miles away and went right to the cache. Must be a bad GPS Zaarenoc
