  1. By far, the best cache in the Springs would have to be Duc996's cache: http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.asp?ID=15036 Nothing around here comes close to this one!

  3. I'm so proud to live in Colorado. Pull a virtual indeed.....sigh.

  5. I don't normally carry cash when I go caching so if I found I had to pay to get to the cache, I'd write it off and continue on my way. On the other hand, if it's noted in the cache description that there is an entrance fee, odds are I'll be sure to take along enough money to pay my way in. Things like paying entrance fees are ok by me, as long as the placer of the cache notes it in the cache description. I didn't vote in the poll because neither one fits...
  6. PA Bug Troop - check the dates on the posts you replied to...lol... Cache safe!!
  7. We don't hunt MOCs. Personal preference, I guess.
  8. Just being nosey - are you a member of EPCSAR? Team Squad51 used to leave EPCSAR stickers, etc in our caches until we ran out of them. One member of our team used to run independent fundraisers for EPCSAR, trying to help pay for the new comm vehicle...wonder if they ever got it??? We were promised the first ride! LOL

  11. I've never entered the elevation while seeking a cache and haven't hit a no find yet... and I routinely cache 8000+ feet above sea level....
  12. That will automatically appear (either by magic or more likely thanks to the person who approves your cache) when you submit your cache!

  14. Hi Valerie! The best thing I can tell you is: A) Read every page on geocaching.com! and Read back over old posts/topics here in the forums. Everything has been covered at least once! That's how I got my start and I felt right at home by the time my Mag330 arrived! Hope this helps you out! Team Squad51

  16. You can find a full list (and map) of COUNTY parks here: http://www.elpasoco.com/parks/prktrail.asp For the lazy (like me), they are: (El Paso County Parks ONLY) Bear Creek Fox Run Park Palmer Lake Park Homestead Ranch Park Black Forest Park Fountain Creek Park Widefield Park And trails that are county owned: New Santa Fe Trail Rock Island Trail Fountain Creek Trail On the above link, each park and trail has it's own linked page, so be sure to check them out for more info. On a sadder note, here's where you can find the listings for city parks, which we all know are off-limits... http://www.springsgov.com/Page.asp?NavID=788 Their website states::: Today, Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services manages 7 regional parks, 8 community parks, 123 neighborhood parks, 6 sports complexes and 40 open space areas. Combined, there are over 12,000 acres of parks, trails and open space, and we continue to acquire and maintain more, enhancing the quality of life for the citizens of Colorado Springs. ENHANCING THE QUALITY OF LIFE....heehee...yep.
  17. Heehee....April Fool's will take more than a weekend, especially since stage 2 has gone missing and we are working on replacing it! We have temporarily disabled April Fool's until we fix this. But if you hit stage one, and figure out where stage two is, email us with the coords you have figured out. If you are right, we'll email you the puzzle that will lead to stage 3... If you hit Kitty Cache, just a bit down the road is King Albert... Team Squad51

  19. Yep, Bear Creek is free for caching! Though right next door, Stratton Open Space is NOT! We had to remove Lost Souls, Inc. recently. But, the ranger we talked to at Bear Creek Nature Center said the city has nothing to do with Bear Creek, so as long as the rules are followed, caching is ok there. We'll see what we can do about getting a complete list of where we can and can't cache. BUT... Squad51 isn't a he, we are a they, and the one who does all this yapping all the time (me) is a she! LOL...

  21. I don't think changing the paint job will help! One of our caches was stolen. It was an Easter themed cache - ammo can painted with pretty bunnies and eggs, pastel and pretty... Snagged. Ah well.....

  23. Nowhere on the Parks page is this month's meeting date and time listed. I'll see if I can find out when it'll be. Unless Husker Nation knows??? Husker Nation knows all!!! LOL! Guess we'd better get to work removing Baby Bear II and Lost Souls this weekend. Sigh. First we have a bunch stolen, now the remaining caches have to be pulled. Tsk tsk tsk.... The strange part is in May, my team mate had a conversation with one of the Parks people and they said they were aware of geocaching and had actually already discussed it at a meeting the previous week. They said they were going to turn a blind eye to it, as long as nothing drew their attention back to it. Something like that.. can't remember the exact words. So we[re wondering what changed their minds in the last month? Anyone have a clue/run-in/problem??? Team Squad51
