  1. The nano that we just placed came with a log sheet with spaces for 37 nano logs... $0.99 each including one log sheet on e-bay (no, they are not for sale by me... That's just where I found them)... update... I just ordered 20 @ $0.99 with $0.75 shipping... for a total of $20.95... found out after I ordered... that same seller has 10-packs for $9.75 (with logs) and free shipping to US... 20-packs have free shipping international... This is about the cheapest you'll find... I do like nano's... if placed in a good spot that is of historic value and/or close to other good regular caches... or in an urban location... I do not like dumpster caches of this type... like beind a W**mart or k*art... or on some non-descript guardrail... If you are going to place a nano cache... PLEASE, place it in a spot that has some interresting feature... and not just somewhere for the sake of placing a cache... Think of a nano cache as being akin to the old Virtual Cache's... If it's not an interresting spot... don't place it there... OK.. that's my 2 cents...
  2. There are quite a few at our local Community College...
  3. So basically, the issue is Cache Drone and Cache Tech going after "old" Wal-Mart caches, where no other reviewers anywhere else in the world appear to be doing so? I have had to change a cache that had a referance to a commercial endevor... In New York State... After a polite e-mail I got from the reviewer, I have no problem with the restriction... So Canada, don't feel you are being singled out... Them's the rules... either play nice or don't play...
  4. I understand the plastic ones mentioned at the top of this thread split very quickly in cold weather and do not stand up to UV very well... I am surprised anyone is having trouble getting ammo cans... They are readily available online...
  5. I posted this on the General Geocaching Forums, but felt it was important enough to post here also... This was mentioned on another thread by another poster (I can't find it right now)... You can create a custom route with Garmin's Mapquest... Just click, click, click the route... save it as a .gpx file... and upload to GC.com... then create your route pocket query... Very Kool... and a lot easier than using Google Earth... for a custom route that does not follow the Google Earth Directions Route... It provides a way to plan a route off the major highways and most direct route to your destination... We often plan routes when we go from NJ to upstate NY... and want to get off the Thurway at an exit and take back roads to the next entrance... It is very combersome to do with GE... The process is explained very well at Maxwell's FAQ's
  6. Hey Mark... How about when your wife/husband says... Geocaching or World of Warcraft... BUT NOT BOTH!!!
  7. I believe it has to do with the quality of the satallite pictures of the particular place you are looking at... There are some areas that have very old sat picx... and possibly it is in an area that has sensitive military installations nearby??? where Google is restricted from showing detailed views???
  8. I have seen the same problem, sporadically too...
  9. Thanks Mushtang, and Markwell... That's where I read it... can't believe I have been screwing around with GE for so long and never realized I could do it so easily with Mapsource... This is a really BIG time saver!
  10. I agree... many times when we go from NJ to upstate NY... we like to get off the NYS Thruway and take back roads for a portion of the trip to get caches... Get off at one exit... get back on at the next entrance... Using Google Earth, it is extremely cumbersome to accomplish... But, since you can do a "save as" with a .gpx file extension with Mapsource... It's a couple of minutes at most to create a custom route... I doubt I'll ever use Google earth again for this effort...

  12. Night Sweats by HartClimbs (GCHA0B) Just off Rt. 78 in Central NJ...
  13. Deb & I will be there... (as long as we don't have another Geodog emergency the night before)... along with jimmybojangles... rest of the family & friends (Adirondack Boys, kiffman, calvinater, another one or two???)... we have two sites... # 16&20...
  14. You got that right C&S 143... I do the same thing at work... The last thing someone troubleshooting and repairing a problem is other people constantly bugging them for an update... You spend all your time answering those questions and giving updates... valuable time that could be spent fixing the problem... A simple "we are aware and are working on it" should suffice to any user...
  15. Does anybody have a direct link to "Create Pocket Query"?
  16. natureboy... the cow is for Cow Bingo ... make a square cowpen... divide it into 100 squares... Like a superbowl pool card... everyone buys a square... whichever square owner the cow leaves a "road apple" in first wins... Cow tipping is just an after hours bonus... for the die-hards... Just be sure you are nimble footed... if you happen to be stupid enough to tip Bruno The Bull...
  17. If it is a bridge... I'm sure there is some place you could hook a small piece of bent coat hanger, etc... I do like Brian's gorilla tape idea... that stuff is 10x better than duct tape...
  18. How would you know if a cache was illegal? They may have gotten "special permission" to place the cache... Something that only the cache owner and the approver are privy to??? There are many extenuating circumstance posibilities... like... the owner or manager of the proiperty might say... "You are my brother (wife, sister, husband best friend, the guy holding a gun to may head, "you bought me a beer and you, only you, can put one there", etc), so I will allow your cache here on this property, but no others"... so that cache has permission, but all ohers are excluded, unless you can also get permission... My point is... just because another has gotten an approved cache in some place... does necessarily not make it open season for anyone to place a cache in that area...
  19. Mon anglais est à la Traduction française bien ? Je ne parle pas de français et utilisé un traducteur en ligne... http: // translation2.paralink.com/
  20. That would put Wildwood, NJ in the SOUTH... (the rest of NJ calls it POLENTA)... They even have scrapple there... That's just fried grits (OK... POLENTA) mixed with sausage... as far as the grits vs. polenta thingy... I liken that to what everyone calls calamari... On the North Fork of LI we call it... BAIT... At the supermarket calamari is $10.95 a pound... at the BAIT store... it's called squid and is $1.50 a pound... same stuff... same package...
  21. I would do a search of the area the will be in in Germany...
