  1. Hi All, A friend of mine is after the London Eye coin to complete the set. I'd like to help him out but only have spare Big Ben, Angel of the North and Stonehenge. Anyone care to help with a swap?
  2. Wow that was quick! We have the start of the database already! If you want to be on it (& receive it) follow the instructions above.
  3. Hi Berni, Congratulations on getting the factsheet printed - the door is now firmly wedged open. All we need now is sufficient Scouters, Guiders & Leaders to keep "bothering" their counties, Gilwell, etc. and we might actually get a "Geocaching badge". The original intention of this thread when I started it soooo long ago was to try and build up a contact network so that we could meet up at Scouting events or provide "Geocaching activities" at Jambos & Moots. Unfortunately forums don't work that way as they are unstructured and can change focus from one page to the next. However if anyone wants to be on a "Scouting Geocachers" database, I'm in the process of building one based on e-mail & telephone contact info. If you want to be "on" the database - and therefore receive a copy of the database (plus an update once or twice a year) please let me have the following information - Name - Geocaching Name - Scout or Guiding position - Scout or Guiding Group - Scout or Guiding County/Country - E-mail address Contact telephone number - (Home or Mobile) Send the info to les@ecg.uk.com - you have my word as a Scout it will only be circulated to other members of the database. 4. Hi All, When I started this thread nearly a year ago, my initial thoughts were that if we could form the core of a group we could possibly have a "meet" or get together at the WSJ at Hylands Park. Initially only a few replies came in and, mainly because of physical mileage, it was impractical to get together. Since then many of us have been busy (WSJ, Summer Camps, etc.), but now a year later there seems to be a renewed interest in getting together and a lot more names on the thread. From experience, if this group is going to "gel", it needs one or two individuals to coordinate the communication at the early stages, ideally to set up some form of contact database and to ensure that all those that are interested (or might be interested) are kept informed and have a chance to share their opinions. This is the sort of thing that I would normally volunteer to do, however with International Scouting and other committments, I'd be much happier for someone else to take the role. Readers of this thread and other Scouting/Guiding Geocachers that are interested have a choice - the thread can remain a forum for discussion and friendly chat or it can be the catalyst for a more coordinated group that can get together occaissionally and "do things" - camps, event caches, Scouting Geocoins, etc. I think the idea of an event next year is great and will do my best to attend. Please post some replies and let me know what you think. Some may be happy with the thread remaining just an informal forum - I personally think that Scouting and Caching combined presents us with an amazing opportunity to do something really special that will have positive benefits to both activities. Let your imagination go wild and just think what we could do if we got ourselves organised? I hope you all have had a great Christmas and have a very happy and peaceful New Year! 5. Hi All, Have received my poker chip coins and they look fantastic! Many thanks to Tank & Tracey for pulling this all together. I'm very happy to donate a coins for the set to be sold on Ebay for Tony's medical fund - I've contacted Nochipra and will post one off as soon as I have details. I'm also interested in swapping these TNT poker chip coins for others in the set. I don't have contact details for the other 18 purchasers so this forum is probably the best option. If you want to swap one of yours for one of mine contact me on les@ecg.uk.com - mine are the silver coins with black & gold enamel. Merry Xmas to you all, Sinclair of Rosslyn (Les Sinclair) from the cold wet and windy UK!
  6. Hi Guys, I was at Winter Camp this weekend and visited Gilwell 1 & 2 on the Sunday. If we had some way of formalising a communications link we could agree a time and place to meet (bit like an event cache but linked to a Scout camp or event). Please contact me on the e-mail in the general note posted. YIS Les
  7. Les very interested I am also a n active cub leader and have talked to gilwell about geocaching please e mail me for my contact details it would be good to talk. Simon Heys (Tacanman) Hi Simon, please see my general repply and drop me an e-mail. YIS Les Sinclair les@ecg.uk.com
  8. Hi All, Sorry for the delay in response I posted the topic and then had to go overseas at short notice. If you let me have your details (name, e-mail, mobile, current Scout or Guide District) I'll endeavour to set up some sort of communication group. We will have to be careful, particularly regarding issues like Child Protection, when discussing Scout & Guide related events. YIS Les Sinclair les@ecg.uk.com
  9. Many thanks, I'm very new to the whole concept of Forums. Les Sinclair
  10. Hi As an active Scout Leader and an enthusiastic Geocacher I'd like to set up an informal network of UK based geocachers with strong Scouting connections - either Scouts, Guides or Leaders. With the 2007 Centenary celebrations fast approaching it would be fun to lay on some special caching activities (events, CITO meets, Scouting based caches, etc) to mark the occaision. We will also have Scout& Guides & Leaders visiting the Uk from all over the world and the odds are that a fair percentage of them will be geocachers. Anyone interested please let me know. If there's enough of us it may be possible to formalise the group, but that's a possibility that would need careful thought.
