  1. Since you'll be driving a Fiat it should take less time and parking would not be hard as you could hide it under parallel sticks. In the NW, you would be amazed what you find under parallel sticks.
  2. If you happen to be using a Mac, once you have loaded the PQ into the GPX file you will need to eject the Device in Finder. Then disconnect the GPSR from the USB Cable. That should do it, besides the 64 is better suited as a door stop due to the antenna
  3. Have you gone here to check what your Nuvi can do? http://www8.garmin.com/products/poiloader/index.jsp The Nuvi 500 can be used for Paperless Geocaching and can be found at various sites.
  4. Now if you were living in the NW you could load these into your GPSR.... http://www.switchbacks.com You might even recognize the author.
  5. If it were to happen, a mass of logging roads would need to be cut into the area or would this be an example Helo removal. This area would be scarred for ages to come. It is a beautiful area and lately they have been improving the trail system within the area. Let's hope it does not happen.
  6. Welcome Heather0731, enjoy the game & have fun with it. I can remember long ago when I started I was teaching Map & Compass to a group of Boy Scouts. I had with me a GPS to show how they related to each other. Someone came along & asked if we were Geocaching & I explained what we were doing, they informed me we were within feet of a cache and these boys went crazy over the idea. Treasure!!! Have fun and ignore the bitterness you may hear around the forum, make it your time with family and friends. It's only a game to be enjoyed your way. Welcome to the Family!!
  7. How about a pocket full of my coins to drop off and find nothing but Nano, film canister or pill bottle. Then leave home without coins and find a cache large enough for a coin. I just can't win for losing.
  8. Bob, most computers such as Mac has translators on them, you can even get one for your smartphone. Free wifi in Europe is everywhere. Below is part of your statement in Russian.. Более поздно этот год мы будем делать каникулу которая принесет через Англия, Nederland, Германия, Словакия, Венгрия, Чешская Республика, и франция. И мы идем к geocache ВЕЗДЕ мы идем выйти серии Just explore and you will be amazed at the help you can get from the locals who like to help.
  9. Spellcheck has struck again, don't you just love a computer that thinks it knows what you really mean? Good catch niraD. I've got 20 Decons, 10 black & 10 Green, just caught Safari trying to change again.
  10. How about placing a U.S. Mil. Devon Box but you then have an issue of those who don't close them correctly. As for Ammo cans, they are out there you just have to search. Watch for Base sale in which Lots of 100-1000 cans are sold. You get a group together to buy a lot, then come the transportation of these Pallets of cans. I'm sure you know someone in the service or retired from who has Base privileges who could check for you. Remember to ask yourself about your placement of your cache. Is it just about throwing a cache down for a number or you have a very nice spot for others to visit? I've found baggies wrapped in Duct Tape stuffed into a Guardrail and to me these were bad but at the time I didn't know until I made the grab.
  11. You could run away screaming " They have landed must run away!!" Or just introduce yourself.
  12. When using Maps and looking for Canyon Creek Road, Montana the search shows it as Canyon Creek Road, Libby Montana off Lake Koocanusa Scenic Byway 37. Also canyon Creek Rd runs into NFD Road 4912 :animate:
  13. Drive up to the pole lean out grab, sign, put back, drive away.
  14. have you looked around Libby, Montana?
  15. Old Virtuals can stay, new ones are a no. Most Earthcaches are educational I like that. These have been a very nice replacement to a Virtual. Earth caches = yes Virtuals = no
  16. Howdy WRASTRO!! It's been awhile, great to know you're not caught up in the insecurities of some PowerPoint Chart builder. OOPs! Back on track of the subject at hand. Some folks live for Stats/Numbers and various other reasons. No one is holding a GPS to anyones head and saying you must go find a Cache right this minute, only you can make that decision. It's only a game that each of you plays your own way. As I play it my way. Walk, ride, hike or climbing out doors is fantastic instead of sitting staring out a window. You can call it exercise or maybe grabbing some fresh air, each to his own. Even just sitting on a bench watching to Sun rise or set is great. ( Oh, by the way I hear there;s a cache located under that bench.. HaHa ) Gotcha! So in short don't listen or read about Geocaching just do what you want or like to do. Enjoy the outdoors, there is some amazing places out there. Go find them, if there happens to be a Cache nearby, OK, if not, OK. Let step down off this soap box and venture over to that lamp skirt. Go have some fun, maybe go fishing with your mind.
  17. Too much early morning coffee and afternoon expresso...Great video!
  18. Sounds like your Zoom is incorrectly set on your unit since you say it eats your destination.
  19. Opportunity ... Yes, opportunity. A set of circumstances that make it possible to do something. Really. It is your choice to do something. Which shall you choose? I may or my not attend an event since that day marks my 8th Anniversary as in being married 32 years. Most likely I'll not attend. Will it hurt my feelings not to acquire a souvenir? Nope. Each day you make decisions to do something that brings a smile to yourself. Why complain about it? You make your own choices not Groundspeak. Good Luck on your Quest for Fulfillment. It's only a game.
  20. I prefer the GPSR over phone since its more reliable especially in the rain/show. It can get wet and keeps a signal better. There are places that the phone can lose a signal then what? In city your phone is ok. Each to his/her own choice. I've dropped my GPSR and it's a Timex as it keeps on working. Drop a phone down a steep bank and it may require replacement. Good Luck in your choice..
  21. General ... Have you looked to fellow Cacher in your area you meet up with and they could help you get started. There could be an event in which someone at the event has the same model as you and they could show you a few pointed. Good luck and hope that someone in your area helps....
  22. Is there a Posted Sign ... Private or Member Only? Who did you contact to Grant permission to place a Cache on this Property? How can one access this Cache if it is only available a few times a year? Does one need to sneak in under the cover of darkness? Best answer would be ... go find a better spot, somewhere the Public can access without problems.
