Ordered my first handheld GPS, what do I need to know?
MtnMutt-ProDuckShins replied to brieeyeball's topic in How do I...?
It appears you live in Oregon... Go to Switchbacks.com & from there you have many options as to Maps including NW Trails & Topo. Welcome to the Game & enjoy the outdoors. BTW go to NW Forum & see a Cache Machine is going to Beaverton in June. -
If they know where they be visiting "Cities", why not make a a few PQ's to load. They can easily map their route & PQ's can be done. Lot's of Wifi spots to check nearby Caches. They just need to plan accordingly.

downloading query from my Mac to my GPS
MtnMutt-ProDuckShins replied to Gma&Bear's topic in GPS technology and devices
Or just do your Pocket Query, then just drag & drop it into your GPX folder of your Garmin. -
After playing with the new Garmin express update, I feel that a PQ drag & drop is easier & quicker. Garmin Express is great for updates for your GPSR as soon as you connect, letting you know if you have an update due. For a single cache load GPX File, then drag & drop. This is just my opinion, everyone will have their own, just saying.

This site should help you & you can make a practice cutout too. http://cachebug.blogspot.com/2006/10/lizardtoadz-sell-out.html Good luck, remember sometimes the decipher could be offset a few letters to get you a challenge.

Have you joined the Facebook Addicted to Geocoins Forum/Group? -
:roll eyes: Go to https://coord.info/GC6Q1H8 , then on right side you will Bookmark Lists, click on the T's, now do your PQ. Or have a fellow cacher load them for you. Good Luck...

Sounds like you're having a fun time but no mention of the fine sunny weather over there.

Additional help ... Attend an event in your area and ask for help from the local cachers as most are a friendly group willing to help you. God luck.

Logging an old archived cache
MtnMutt-ProDuckShins replied to Ge0Patr0l's topic in General geocaching topics
I f you happen to archived the cache, did you keep the log book/sheet. Check to see if that is a true log. If it has been some time as if a couple of months .. delete. Also check the profile of the person in question and see their pattern of caches of later. If you feel they are playing the Log Archive Game .. Delete. It all comes down to you need to make the final say. -
The Coventry Canal trip was fun and doing the Stairway to Heaven all 21 locks in a single day without interrupt was incredible. Hard part was grabbing a few while running between locks. The Pubs and food was amazing. I was the only cachers of 4 on the trip.

Car has a built-in GPS signal jammer?
MtnMutt-ProDuckShins replied to ivss_xx's topic in GPS technology and devices
This vehicle has a huge windshield which should allow clear view of sky. Are you putting the GPSr on the dash or possibly in your hands in say the backseat? You didn't mention where the unit placement is, the dash would be your best bet.
