  1. Ohhkkay... This is probably my biggest pet peeve and I had to look on your profile. It's stated that you work in security. I assume you may have had some sort of firearms training. Why is your finger on the trigger ? Rule one in any basic firearms class is your finger is the first safety. Terrible photo. Doesn't show anyone anything other than you know very little of firearms. It's a joke. Don't be a jerk. No smileys or anything, so who's to know ? Still a stupid, terrible pic. I immediately assumed it was a joke and thought it was very funny. And no, i do not have a gun myself, never even touched one.
  2. I personally do not like a cache that requires i visit (several) others to get the final co-ords. Invariably either one of the preliminaries goes missing before i find it or i just fail to find all. By the time i get all the info either the final is missing/archived or i have lost all the info. Nothing wrong with this idea, though.
  3. When you pick up a TB, mention it in both your log in the cache and online. That way it is easier to try to figure out where/when the bug disappeared.
  4. I was in Europe and discovered that at the airport there was a TB that wanted to go to my home state in the U.S. I had my niece take me there, 30 min one way. After i retuned to the U.S. i drove three hours (one way) just to get the TB to the city it wanted to visit. The owner never contacted me and never said Thank You. I will never do that again.
  5. LED is definitely the way to go. To my surprise regular Wal-Mart had by far the best selection of good lights for under $30, much better than R.E.I.
  6. What GPSr do you have? Your GPSr is connected to the computer. You click on the Send to My GPS icon. What message do you get?
  7. Make sure the tree is not rotten and can support a person weighing more than 100 pounds. It does not have to be an easy climb - not all caches were meant to be found by all. Yes, the difficulty rating is the key, but you do not have to reveal in the description that it is high up.
  8. Not all "lock n lock" containers actually are lock n lock brand. Not all of them are water proof. Please test the container before you put it out. The hide-a-keys ae not water proof, either.
  9. Do not take things too personally here. People responding to your question do not know you. You are not the only person reading these responses. They maybe did not help you, but there are others who may have learned something. There are people out there who do not read instructions and need to be reminded to do so. There are people out there who get sloppy co-ords when hiding a cache. Good luck.
  10. This goes against everything your Mother ever taught you: you are not special, nobody cares about you. Strangers are too busy with their own affairs to bother with yours. You look much more suspicuous if you first fiddle with your bike/shoe and suddenly reach for the lamp post. Just walk to it and lift the base as if you had a reason to be there and knew what you were doing. Good luck.
  11. The first log entry for every cache is from the reviewer. Click on it so you see "his" profile. Click on 'send message'. If you already did that, what happened? Good luck.
  12. 1. You do not have to have maps to find a cache. 2. You are more likely to get a response if you post in the Finland Forum here. 3. Your best chance of a response is in www.geocache.fi
  13. Check out GC11VFT and others near it in Reedy Creek Park. Very pretty place for a couple of hours of caching.
  14. Hei! If you attend any of our Triangle, NC events before your trip, look me up. I'll give you some cache info for Helsinki.
  15. You can go to the country/language-specific forums here and ask for help. You could even contact a Cache Owner whose page is written in both the foreign language and in English. It is possible that he/she did not write the English part himself/herself and can not directly help you, but he/she might be able to direct you to someone who can. The translation sites are not perfect, particularly with words that are not that common in everyday language.
  16. I recommend you visit http://www.ncgeocachers.org/index.php From there you can find info on local (NC) geocaching groups.
  17. Here are some possible answers: 1. I keep it because it is pretty and i really want it and i am a thief. 2. I accidentally keep it because i forget all about right after i pick it up and it gets lost in my bag/house or i drop it in the woods. 3. One day at a cache i find a TB/GC in my bag. I have no idea where it came from. I leave it in a cache without writing down the i.d. #. I get home and i realize i never even logged the pick-up. I live too far from the cache/i am too lazy to go back to get the number.
  18. If you bought your 60CSx used and did not get the insruction booklet, you can find a copy online at the garmin website. Are you having troubles getting the co-ords into the GPSr? Or are you having troubles with figuring out what to do once the co-ords are in the GPS?
  19. You are more likely to find a local friend in your local forums. Try http://www.floridacaching.com/
  20. In the safety bit you should remind me to wear clean undies in case i have an accident and have to go to the hospital.

    Traveling to US?

If the TB is still there when i get to Finland in July, i'll be happy to garb your TB and bring it to the New Continent with me.
  22. One simple way: Say the sign is Charleston. Take, for example, the second letter on the sign, in this case H. H is the 8th letter in the English alphabet. So you get 8.
  23. Since you don't have that many logged finds yet, how do you know what a good cache looks like?
  24. Congrats. What took you so long?
