  1. Dont know what welch is trying, Ive been attempting to use the UBB url tag without any luck. So...what are you using to get the link in your sig Sparky?
  2. dont know....I found my problem, at the moment. None of my sig changes are being picked up (yep, Im logging out and back in).
  3. Sure looks like it should work....Oh Well....
  4. okay, I took the UBB created when I added a link to a message and put it into my sig. It works in the message, but not the sig. Hmmmm....
  5. one more time before I say "the heck with it" []
  6. new signature? trying to get the UBB right so for the link to the group. maybe it worked this time....?
  7. Hope this doesnt mean no more polished rocks.
  8. I initially saw the UTM thing as a hassle also, but there are so many places online (and on some GPS units) to do the conversion that I wasnt worried about it. I read this as a guestimate to determine if they should charge.
  9. I just picked up some "coin holders" on the clearance rack at my local scout office. It is about 1.25" diameter and about 4.5" tall. It has a threaded top with a rubber gasket and is supposed to be for carrying your money etc when you go swimming. For less than a buck each, I could pass them up.
  10. Im surprised nobody has answered this yet.... To get the TB icon to show up, you have to "drop" the bug in the cache. If you have "picked up" the bug from the cache where you found it, it will be in your inventory. When you log a cache, you will be given a list of the bugs in your inventory, and have the option to drop it/them. To keep track of the caches you intend to hunt, you can simply bookmark them with your browser. Or you can "watch" them and use the list on your My Cache Page to quickly get back to them.
  11. Thanks for the link Spinwebby. My first impression is that the policy is very reasonable compared to others Ive read about. I think it will be a bit of a hassle to move the cache each year, especially since gc.com now requires reapproval if the coords change significantly (AFAIK the other site(s) dont require this). But, that is a small price to pay. I like that they are already planning what would get added to the DNR web site. They mentioned having a list of lands where geocaching is permitted. Hopefully it will include the contact info for each. Thanks again
  12. Keep an eye on Goodwill, second hand stores and consignment shops. At least around here (central Iowa), they often have used-but-good "Gucci" stuff for next to nothing (the adult sizes dont seem to move as quickly as the kids stuff). Ive found the the shops near the local university are great for this stuff.
  13. I get a warning from my browser that says I am "about to go to an address containing a user name". It tells me the user name and server in question. A look at the source for the page shows an img src tag that contains an FTP link. Maybe this is what canadazuuk was talking about?
  14. If Skywatcher Gorge is too much, how about South CRT. It is long enough to be able to visit, but the terrain should be much easier (though it is rated at 3.5). And...as of now, South CRT has not been found (Barthonis found most of it but not the final stage). THis weekend work for anyone? A little caching, then a little last-minute shopping?
  15. I really enjoyed the series when it started, but it has been so long since the last book (which I didnt enjoy as much as the first three anyhow) that Im not all that excited about the newest one. Anyway...I think the only "right" way to do a Dark Tower cache would be to have the cacher follow The Beam. Off the top of my head, here are a couple of ideas that might work: A puzzle-multi that follows a route through town This is the only one Ive actually done that shows what Im thinking. You could have the intermediate waypoints be similar to Rolands waypoints. The other thought was to use some of the laser pointer ideas mentioned here to create The Beam.
  16. That is pretty cool. Thanks Eric K and thanks Texas Geocaching.
  17. Ahhh, multiple bugs, good point. Just a thought....
  18. Ive recently taken more interest in Travel Bugs and am wondering if the TB icon on the Nearest Cache Page could be a link to the TBs page. This would allow seeing the TB and its goals without going into the cache page. I think this would be useful for checking on new bugs in caches Ive already found.
  19. I cant tell from the pics that are there, but if the river freezes you could walk across. I did that for Abbys Treasure Island last winter.
  20. I think that is very cool. I hope that people actually do what has been requested instead of taking the easy way and just moving ISUH from cache to cache. Ive added ISUH to my watchlist so I can follow his progress and read the stories. I better start thinking about who I would honor in case he makes to my area.[]

    $78 GPS

I picked up an eTrex Yellow for the $80 also. By the time I got there (around 10:30) there was no line. The shelf was empty, but they had more in the back. I also noticed that Wally World didnt have the Legend marked at $168, though it may have rung up at that. And that they had a Geko 101 in the counter for $75. As welch said, the GoTo will take you closer than the map does. Once Ive found the parking area, I rarely use the map screen on my Legend. Happy Caching....
