  1. I also like the idea of priority access to the servers for premium members. Yesterday the system was so bogged down it was almost non functional. The slow response time needs to be fixed. Other speed up suggestions: - drop all the fancy stuff, go back to the basic geocache functions. - Use a routing system to parse the various functions to dedicated servers. I don’t want to see someone else start up another geocache website like they did in the letterboxing world.
  2. Good luck Grandpa! Too much stress for my taste.. Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  3. I'm happy to take over the 38-mile cache, its very close to my home. Go ahead and have Jeremy transfer ownership. Sure wish you didn't have to move. Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  4. Sorry to hear someone ripped off your cache. It would be nice if everyone would respect other peoples property but some steal just for something to do. Unfortunately there seems to be a fairly high death rate for caches. I have to admit that is a "very-cool-looking" railroad trestle so look forward to working the new one-stop virtual. 5. Congratulations on Little Rocker and #400! Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

I don't want you to feel uneasy regarding the money issue and I would certainly be glad to mail you a check now if you prefer. An alternative might be to wait until the shirts arrive then set up a distribution/collection meeting at the Beaverton IHop location. A Saturday evening time may allow folks to complete their scheduled activities and have some dinner first. Thanks to you and Team JOYSON for helping us save some cash. The T-shirts are $3 each. Gofindit and myself are interested in purchasing the T-Shirts. Maybe we can get a list of interested persons at the gathering tonight. Speaking for myself (Marla may have other opinions) it might be a good thing to have a cache there if only to show what people will dump on the roadside. I doubt the town of Banks would like the association When I placed the cache the oil was not exposed but there was some trash around. Log entries indicate that both the trash and expecially the oil appear to be offensive to cachers. People seem to like the tour through Banks, they just don't like where the cache is located so I will try to find a new site. 9. It's a bummer! I shut down the Banks Tour cache because of all the complaints about the cache site and I cleaned up the crap at Wilkesboro Station. That's about the best I can do to improve the situation. Trafcon - I apologize for the indiscretion of one of our fine tourists who just "couldn't wait". There are persons who believe that the country is just a convenient place to get rid of their problems. About once a year on average someone will walk up my drive way and take a dump right in the middle of the road. In the years past in front of my gate they have provided me with a rather ripe deer carcass, a stolen car and one guy dumped an entire house worth of carpet completely blocking the road. Had to use my tractor to clear a path so I could get out. Even with the "gifts" from an occasional inconsiderate tourist, I still love living out here... 10. So far, I'm very happy with the new software. It looks great and it loads much faster. Still checking things out... Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  11. I was out geocaching with a friend the other day when we were approached by an alien who asked, "What you doing with those things?" (pointing at the GPS receivers). My friend answered, "Looking for radiation leaks." Whoa.. wrong answer!!! The alien nearly went ballistic. He was ready to round up the wife and kids and evacuate to the high country. I think a geocaching class is a good idea. Not only to learn the GPS basics but also how to deal with the public when you're out there beating the bushes. The current terrorist hype has made the public a little suspicious of peculiar behavior. Love the white bucket "Steer Manure" solution. Oh, a better answer that most aliens will accept: "We're on a scavenger hunt" Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.

  14. I'm reader number 2387 of this post!! I believe that plus $1.25 will get me a cup of coffee at McDonalds. Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  15. The first item I took from a cache was a Yaquina Head Lighthouse button. Not sure why.... but I'll keep it just because it was the first. And yes, I love to collect signature items. It's the first thing I look for when I open a cache. Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  16. I agree with Orgeone's comment, a Geocache is well.... a Geocache. It's something that you hide and someone else finds using a GPS receiver. Use the bridge location, it's a great place for a cache. If you want people to notice certain things, create waypoints for a multi (how many support towers? etc.) Nothing wrong with documenting the bridge construction but a web site might work better for that. Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  17. Great idea Team JOYSON, I'm sure there will be a lot of interest in a weekly gathering with big turnouts. Lucky you have a large house. Ah... what was the address again? Charlie Trail Duster - If everything seems to be going well, you have obviously overlooked something.
  18. I just had my new cache approved on Monday in 2 1/2 hours! Now, that's good service... Charlie Trail Duster - I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.
  19. Geocaching is fun no matter where you do it. There is always something new to see or learn about. If I'm traveling and I got some time, I go caching!! But where's the best place to geocache? Wherever you're at my friend.. Charlie Trail Duster - I almost had a psychic girlfriend but she left me before we met.
  20. Team JOYSON, I saw both of you at the event but unfortunately there was not time to visit. Next time I will arrive a little earlier. Thanks so much for your effort in orchestrating the very successful Hammerhead event and I look forward with great anticipation to the "Beaverton Cache Machine" in the near future. Keep up the good work! Charlie Trail Duster - Borrow money from pessimists - they don't expect it back.
  21. Born in Minnesota and moved out here in 1952. Raised in Tacoma, spent 8 years in Denver. Purchased my current home, about 40 miles NW of Portland, 20 years ago today. 22. They look really cool in the picture and the beer deal is nice. How many to I have to find to get a new car? Charlie Trail Duster - When you pat a dog on its head, he will usually wag his tail. What will a goose do? Paul Lynde-- Make him bark.
  23. Sure wish I could go. I grew up near the bridge (a long time ago). When I was a kid, we used to ride our bicycles across it to go hunting (that's when there was nothing but forest on the other side). The bridge tenders always had popcorn in the little booth on the east side and they would share it with us on our return trip. I've made may trips across there on my old three speed bicycle. Have fun.. Charlie Trail Duster - When you pat a dog on its head, he will usually wag his tail. What will a goose do? Paul Lynde-- Make him bark.
  24. Cynical or not, congratulations on your 100th find! It's wonderful that you are now a reformed cynic, and I agree there really are some decent people out there. Every couple of years I run across one (just kidding). Now that I'm nearly 60 I don't worry so much as to whether I'm cynical or not, what I worry about is: if I go after that cache, will I be able to get back out of the gulch? Keep up the good work.
