Hello all,
There was some discussion at one point about making a simplex frequency somewhat of a standard for geocaching.
Does anyone know what was decided?

I think that would be a really cool idea, especially for events and megaevents. These forums would probably be the place to actually get that done, so if there is any suggestion on what the frequency would be we could probably start work on that.

I passed by Tech exam last weekend and received my call of KK4AJG yesterday. I did the paperwork to get the vanity call of W5IEM yesterday as well as that was my late grandfather's call.

OK, I have the CD's, so I should be able to use it for both, correct?
Thanks for the assistance...

I currently have a Magellan Explorist 500 with the Topo software, and would like to upgrade to the XL but keep the 500 going. I have heard and read alot of conflicting info on using the Topo software on both units, and have heard all of the horror stories about contacting Magellan to answer the question.
So, hoping someone on here can help me out on this....

So, are you able to install either the MapSend or Topo software onto more than 1 unit? I currently use a Magellan Explorist 500, I am looking at upgrading to the XL, but not sure if I will have to repurchase the Topo software if I do so.
Help me out on this one, please!!!

I have four-15" 5-lug black steel Jeep wheels for sale. They are in great condition. All four have the little cap in the middle that says "Jeep". I'd like to get $60 (pick-up price) for the four of them but will consider all offers, since I'm not very well versed in how much car stuff is worth. I am in the Charleston, SC area.
If you want them and want them shipped I'm willing to ship them to you but you will need to also cover the cost of the packaging materials and shipping. I will have to buy a box (or boxes) to ship them in because I don't have anything that they'd fit in. I'm not sure how much all that would add up to but my guess is that the shipping would be pricey because of the weight.
If you're interested and want to see a picture let me know and I'll take one and add it to the listing.
Thanks for looking!

I am quite interested. PM Sent...

Can't wait to put out a few Jeeps and watch them disappear less than a week after they are released.
Seriously, I have never owned one of these TB's, but I have noticed that they are the most stolen TB's out there, which is just sad. I have found one, moved it on, and I believe it was stolen very soon afterwards...

I got really lucky, or better, I just paid attention on the Groundspeak forum around Christmas and picked up a 500 WITH the topo software for under $200. I love it, and find even more uses for it everyday...

I did my first "Night Cache" today, and it was great. It was not just doing a cache at night, but was a true night cache, totally reliant on reflectors and flashlight.
It was great, and I would love to do more like it...

I am wanting a challenge for a travelbug that I have laying around that needs to go somewhere.
I am challenging someone in an East Coast state, to a travelbug race to see who can get a bug within 5 miles of me. I am willing to put up an non-activated Geocoin, probably a Great Smokey Mountains National Park Stamp, as the wager. You have to place the bug within 5 miles of your home coordinates, as will I, as early as tomorrow.
Anyone up for it? First to PM me about it will have the challenge, so let me know what you are willing to put up as a wager.
I think this will be fun.

I live in Southern Arizona, which is full of ghost towns. I might be able to get some info on them and participate...

I picked up some small spiral notepads at Wallyworld today for $0.25 each, and some pens 10/$0.48. Those, with some extra baggies is about as far as I will go...

I am both new to Tucson and to Geocaching, so this thread is great. Going to try a few this weekend...

are there any benefits of charter member that premium members do not?
Originally, Charter Members were guaranteed to keep the same membership price as long as they kept up their memberships. But sometime recently this benefit was given to all Premium Members.
Now I think the only additional benefit is the complimentary "Jelly of the Month" gift subscription.

I, too, can just see some angry coin collector showing up at someone's home demanding that their stolen coins be returned...

My pet peeve is getting messages from amateur sleuths that accuse me of taking a trackable and not logging it.
