  1. Welcome! I started out like you. I am still pretty new but am having a lot of fun. I also am upset that it took me so long to find this hobby. Good luck!
  2. I have the same unit. Here is a step by step. If you want to start a new track do this: 1. Go to SETUP>RESET>CLEAR CURRENT TRACK 2. Back up one screen and hit TRACKS>TRACK LOG (make sure this setting is set to "RECORD, SHOW ON MAP") 3. If you so choose, you may change the other features in under "TRACKS" if you want different intervals, or track colors. 4. Go on your hike! 5. At the end of the hike go to TRACK MANAGER>CURRENT TRACK>SAVE CURRENT TRACK 6. You can view your previous tracks from the TRACK MANAGER menu. 7. You can upload your tracks into base camp by plugging your device into your computer and transferring the data. If you are in the field and want to view previous tracks do this: 1. Go to TRACK MANAGER>"YOUR TRACKS NAME">SHOW ON MAP 2. Repeat step #1 for all the tracks you want to see. 3. VIEW MAP Hope this helps.
  3. I used the one month free trial--thanks for the tip!
  4. I've been caching for about a month. It's been a lot of fun so far. I guess I'm worried that once I find all the ones close to home I will not be as interested because I won't be able to do it as often then. Do you find that you end up making reasons to travel to find new caches?
  5. Just as the thread title says, I'm on the fence about upgrading to a premium membership. I live in a more rural area an am not sure that it's worth it to get the premium membership. Though, I travel a lot and it might be nice to have the information to find more caches in those areas. Do any of you regret being a premium member?
  6. I had a similar start recently too. Glad I'm not the only newbie! Good luck and have fun.
  7. My wife asked me what I wanted for Christmas and after some thought I decided I wanted a handheld GPS for my hunting and hiking adventures. While trying to decide which GPS unit to get, I learned about geocaching. It sounded like it was a fun activity so I thought I would give it a try on my phone (since I don't get the handheld until Christmas!). I remember riding my bike on the Katy Trail near Marthasville, MO when I was a child. For my first cache I was excited to find out that there was a cache near the Katy Trail trailhead in Clinton, MO. Since this would connect me back to my childhood I decided that it would be my first cache. It was a fun experience. I look forward to finding more caches and being a part of this community!
